My dad has bone and joint pain and he went to his doctor and diced to give him fenofibtate 48mg, is this good for bone and joint pain and should he take this medicine ? ## Hello, Alex! How is your dad doing? No, this medication will not help with those symptoms, at all. The FDA lists Fenofibrate as being used to help lower cholesterol and it can actually cause those symptoms as side effects, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and constipation. Is he on any other medications?

My bp is 150/82. I had coronary artery bypass graft surgery on 17-Sep-2013. Presently I am taking following bp medicine : Betaloc 75mg 2 times daily; Amlodopine 5mg daily; Frusemide 20mg daily + Potassium chloride 600mg daily. Pls advise how can I lower my HBP from 150 to 120. ## Try taking 1500 mg of fish oil a day. Mainly Krill oil. Fish oil works wonders for the brain, joints, cholesterol, memory, and bones in general. But should help you BP as well as long as you take it everyday. Natural compared to chemical. Any day!

Hello I have been dealing with pain in my lower back, pinched nerves, broken bones and chronic neck pain. I live in the Boston area and I am just wondering what doctor around here will be understanding about giving pain meds? ## Hello, Jman! How are you doing? I am very sorry that you're in pain. Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you have a PCP? If so, having them refer you to someone would likely be the fast and easy way to get the help you need. Does anyone know any good doctors in that area?

I had to Cushing's syndrome which caused me to go from 125 to 320 lbs. I had my adrenal glands removed or I would have died. I also have neuropathy on my left leg. But since I am a small person, I have so much excess skin hanging down and my whole life I've worn a size d in a bra so my breasts are hanging also. I have to walk with the crutch. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do besides surgery (which I am in the middle of trying) that could move my skin back to where it's supposed to be? Therefore I could probably just walk with a cane. ## It isn't moving your skin back to where it's supposed to be, it is that the excess weight caused your skin to become very stretched out, so now you have excess that will most likely have to be surgically removed. Dalaudid is the only medication I have found that helps relieve the pain in my bones from the cancer, and it helps me live a somewhat normal life so I can still get up and around. Can it be used in a dogs ear? As for redness, ## Hi nancy, Based on my research, Terramycin can be used for ear infections, in humans and dogs. Terramycin contains the active ingredient Oxytetracycline which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, active against a wide variety of bacteria. However, some strains of bacteria have developed resistance to this antibiotic, which has reduced its effectiveness for treating some types of infections. Side effects are mainly relating to the digestive system, and photosensitive allergic reactions common to the tetracycline antibiotics group. It can also damage calcium-rich organs, such as teeth and bones, although this is very rare. I would give your veterinarian a call if you're unsure of the dosage for your dog. You can learn more about this drug on...

I've been on methadone now for 2 1/2 years starting at 10 mls going to 110 now at 48. I have been losing my teeth and nails and my bones have been cracking and breaking ( literally ). I am wondering if anyone else has been going through this? ## Has this only been happening since you started taking the methadone? I've honestly never heard of this happening to anyone, but it may also be a good idea to get blood work done to check and see if you may be deficient in any nutrients. Low levels of certain vitamins and minerals, like B12 can result in hair loss and weak nails, etc. You can also view a list of methadone's side effects by following the link below; although I don't see anything listed that relates to what you're experiencing: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0...

Difficulty doing pilates, balancing my body, and have a fear of falling with vulnerable bones due to osteoporosis. ## Hello, Elizabeth! How are you? I understand your concern. My mother-in-law also has it and we always worry about her. However, in reality, activities such as Pilates, are good for you, since they do help keep your body stronger, more flexible and improve balance, which as detailed by the NIH, can help prevent future falls and bone breaks. Are you taking any medications to improve your bone density? Do you also make sure to take in enough calcium and vitamin D?
