How To Quit Suboxone

It's been a month without suboxone and I tapered down very low so it wasn't too bad but depression is horrible. Will it stop? I have one thought, doom! I'm scared. I have a traumatic brain injury due to a car accident where I fractured my skull, and broke my neck. I was on suboxone for 3 years at the time and 3 years since. Highest dosage was 4 mg. I'm on cymbalta, max dose. Seroquol. Now lotuda. I almost want to go back on sub. And just live on 1 mg. never had depression like this. Just feel like I'm not gonna kick the depression. If I didn't have 3 young sons I would contemplate taking my own life but would never do that to my wife or kids. Just wondering if anyone has been in hell like this? ## Dear John, I'm so sorry 2 hear about yor situation. But, wanti...

How do I best stop using this crap. Been trying to do less and less. I had shoulder surgery got onto perks and vikes. Long term stuff but weened myself off. This one isnt so easy. Thinking I should have done this tge hard way rather than try other folks advice. Any suggestions? ## Hi Mark, It really depends on how much your taking per day. Subs have the long half life so that makes things so much different then the usual pain pill wd. I can tell you this, when you get down to 3 or 4mgs you should not drop more than a half mg at a time. You need to wait until your body feels comfortable on that dose. I,m talking a week at the least. It,s because of the half life. It takes a long time but well worth it. If you do this the jump will be fairly easy.

Hello. I'm trying to prove a point and figure this situation out so I need as many suggestions and help that I can possibly get with this question. If you handle quite a few Suboxone wrappers and had even handled Suboxone itself but have never taken Suboxone, is there any way that could get into your system without taking it? Thank you so much this means a lot to me. It really does. And yes I have tried to research this question and I get so many different results so I thought I would come to this wonderful MedChat and try to get a lot more information. Just trying to prove a point. I'm so desperate to figure this out. So please help me. ## Hi Annie, I'm not an expert in the forensics of touching a medication like Suboxone. However, I am under the impression that Suboxone ta...

Hi everyone my name is Peter. I was addicted to opiates for about 1.5 years and in my point of view my tolerance was huge spending thousands of dollars, slowly to see how i corrupted my family and a life of my newborn daughter... and to make matters worse im separated with my wife and my little daughter till today......sad story i know. BUT there is a way to do it and you guys have to listen to me carefully ... first of all im not thinking of me as a mentor or anybody like that cause to be honest i was probably worst than most of people that are reading that right now.. My point is i thought they need to lock me in the room without handles to quit what i was doing ...and i was doing horrible things.. im gonna try to make that story as short as possible on the other hand i would love to ...

Guys, I've been on about 1-2 mg of Suboxone a day for about 2 years. Since the dosage is so low, is it possible to quit Cold Turkey? I wanna get this over with once and for all. ## It is possible, if your doctor approves, but you may experience some mild withdrawal symptoms. As listed by the FDA, withdrawal symptoms may include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was taking suboxone for the past 3-4 years after being addicted to lortabs for nearly 7 years. I was only taking on average 2 1/2 - 3 a day, some days up to 8 some days down to 1 depending on the supply in town. It was hell waking up everyday having to take pills to be normal. I discovered suboxone from a friend and got really sick taking my first one (it was only a 1/3 of one). I discovered that if I cut it into strips of about 1/8" long that was plenty enough to function. One sub would last about a week. I was way cheaper to buy this than Iortabs and I functioned 10x better. I recently decided I would taper down even less and attempt to quit all together. I'm on day 4 with no subs and have excruciating pains in my legs and diarrhea. My friend has given me ultram to halfway h...

My son is in rehab and they started him on suboxone one 4md in morning and 8 mg in afternoon. I can't find a provider that prescribes this in northern Harford County Maryland (Not Dr. Gay Please) How much is sub for an entire month supply or even daily. ## this site does not prescribe nor sell any medications. The price, however, can vary depending on where you purchase them, it is, quite expensive, though and you will not find a cheap price for it. Do you have any type of insurance to help with this? Have you spoken to the doctors about the possibility of Methadone as an alternative, since it has been on the market much longer and is much cheaper? Most doctors do prefer Suboxone, now, since it has enabled many people to get completely drug free, while a lot of people who use Methad...

Hi everyone I'm a 25 year old male and have been taking 2-3 30 mg Oxycodone pills a day for the last 3 years. I get w/d after 1 full day with no pills but I 100% percent want to be done for good. I was fortunate enough to obtain 3 8mg Suboxone film strips. I know everyone varies but can anyone give any helpful advice to get me off the Oxys with just these 3 Subs? I don't think ill be able to get more from the person and I don't want to pay all the money for doc visits and a script. Please help, I know I'm ready to be done and get back to my old self. BTW I'm 5'11 and 185 lbs if that helps with the advice of how much to take. Thank you for your time ## Suboxone is not meant to be used with such a mild habit, where you're really just dependent on the medication...

My suggestion is to switch to a short-acting alternative for 2-3 months until the Suboxone is off your receptors, then taper down and be sick for only 5 days. In my experience, the thought of quitting is worse than the reality of quitting it. Just do it!

I have been in Pain Management for 15 years. I have the usual round of diagnoses. Herniated discs at cervical, thoracic and lumber spine. Bone spurs through out. I have spinal cord compression in my neck. Pain. I just switched from 16mg of Exalgo (Dilaudid ER) with Fentanyl ir for breakthrough- back to 100mcg Fentanyl patches with 15mg Morphine 3x a day for breakthrough. I feel like a trapped rat. To the outside world I'm a professional woman, mother of 3 grown children. I'm no different from any other junkie though. I wanted to go into suboxone assisted substance abuse treatment. Then I found out that, for quite a while, you have to be at the program every day to pick up meds (and go to therapy/group). I'd lose my job! I can walk into Pain Management, ask for Suboxone and l...

I was on suboxone but had 4wheeler wreck and I started using pain pills again and quit suboxone program. Can I get back on program or will they not let me since I didn't finish the program the last time ## I don,t see why they wouldn,t let you back in sub program. Last time I went back it took awhile to find a doctor because they can only have so many patients and they were all full. ## Dear Colt, there shouldn't b a problem with u getting back on subs. My son went on and off, 2. He was on pain pills and went on subs and started using, again and then went back on subs. He just called his Dr and they put him back on. They won't refuse u treatment if u want it. If not where u were, then find another Dr or clinic.GOOD LUCK!

I suddenly stopped taking Suboxone when my suboxone Dr. Who was located 35 miles away, was arrested for writing himself xanex prescriptions. Being from a rural area there wasn't a local doctor that prescribed it, so after 3.5 straight years of taking 4 to 6 mg. A day. I suddenly had no medicine and no doctor so I decided to quit. I didn't gradually cut down, I just stopped. This was in June of 2013. I had a SEVERE MIGRAINE FOR 28 days straight the week after I ran out of Suboxone .i was hospitalized 4 times, and given Daladen. I actually thought my brain would explode ! It was horrible . DO NOT quit cold turkey after being in this medicine for a long time . ## So I was only doing about 1mg orally for a week or 2 straight. Now I have a swollen tounge, sores in my mouth and someth...

Hi! This is my first time writing about my experience on Subs. Let's see....it has been about 4 years I have been taking them. I was taking 80mg or more a day of oxycontin. I was wearing a size 0 in clothing, wasted every dollar I could get my hands on to go buy more (and where I live they were $70-80 per pill). And even worse, me and my husband were both on them so that doubles the money we were spending on them. After 2 years and nearly ruining our lives, we started the local Methadone clinic and things seemed to be getting better. We done that for a year when I had finally had enough of dozing off, falling asleep and gaining weight that I told my husband I was quitting cold turkey. I was getting my doses by the week at 80 mgs a day so we split it up so we both could do it and slo...

I'm quiting Opana using Suboxone. I've gradually come down from Opana ER 40 mg to 10 mg over a period of 6 months, and am switching today to Suboxone film. Dr told me to wait 24 to 36 hrs before starting Subs (wait till I can't stand the withdrawals any longer). Normally on 10 mg Opana I start to feel withdrawals within 12 hrs, can't get comfortable in my skin, can't sleep, restless leg etc. Problem is I ran out of 10 mg yesterday so the single last Opana I took was an ER 40 mg. It's been 30 hrs and still no noticable withdrawals. I don't want to start the Suboxone until feeling the withdrawals as instructed cause I don't want the Subs to kick in and suddenly block the Opana causing worse withdrawals. How long should I wait? ## There is really no precise ...

I started taking suboxone almost 11 weeks ago. I was only taking 4mgs and today i went down to 2mgs. How long will it take me to taper to nothing and not have withdrawals? Please help. I am so sorry I ever touched these things. ## Hello, Karen! How are you? Regardless of how low you taper, you will likely still experience some minor withdrawal symptoms, once you finally stop altogether. Has your doctor provided any instructions? It does contain a very potent narcotic, to you do need to taper off of it as slowly as possible. Is this the only medication you're on? ## ive been taking about 2mg maybe less for about 2 years. havent taken it in three days trying to quit cold turkey. the only withdrawel symptoms ive had was no energy very little insomnia and a little anxiety eapecially whe...

I've been on suboxone for 2 years now. I was addicted to pain pills. I've had withdraws from the pills and withdrawals from the suboxone, and the suboxone is 10 times worse. I don't know who discovered this drug but they should be shot. If I would've known suboxone was this bad I would've tried to quit cold turkey. They even have me on a higher dose than i took with the pills. But now I'm stuck!!! At least my Dr that I have to pay every month is happy. My advise is whatever you do don't go with suboxone. There's bound to be something better out there. ## Hello, Whisper! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had. However, Suboxone does work well for many people, because though it takes awhile and must be very slowly tapered, it has ...

I live in Hazard Ky. I need a doctor bad. I am 53 yrs old and I don't abuse drugs. I was in the suboxone clinic and was doing great but I couldn't quit the xanax and i don't go to a doctor on a regular basis but I'm trying to find one but I need a suboxone Dr that will write me something for my nerves and the suboxone. I know there are some that will. I have been on xanax for 20 years and I have tried so hard to come off them. I am a person that when I set my head on something i do it but I have to say that they stop me. I have been prescribed them and i don't take no more than the dr use to give me, that's 4 1mgs. It cost me 30 for a suboxone and 6 for a 1mgs of xanax 2 of them that is 45 dollars a day. Sometimes I get them a little cheaper but I have to have it...

So I quit opiates on my own and chose suboxone to help with pain... fast forward a few yrs and ive learned its actually fibromyalgia and herniated discs and arthritis giving me all of the pain. Problem now, drs keep passing me off to other drs. Nobody will help me. Im tired of being treated in a poor manner when im in massive pain and can hardly move or walk. I don't know what to do anymore. ## Where you taking Suboxone from an addiction treatment doctor? If so, then that would explain the problem. Doctors are going toe very reluctant to prescribe anything for someone that has an addiction issue listed in their medical records. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and co...
