I had knee replacement surgery two weeks ago and took oxycodone and then vicodin. I've had nausea from surgery and for the entire two weeks. I've stopped taking all narcotics for two days but still have nausea. When can I expect the GI upset to go away? ## Hello, Carmen! How are you feeling? Has the nausea eased, yet? Both the anesthesia used during the surgery and the medications can cause nausea that may linger for quite awhile, even after you stop taking them. However, after being off of it all for a week, or so, it should start to improve. If it doesn't, then you should consult your doctor. The FDA classifies this medication as a analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constip...

Will hydrocodone from 2006 be safe to take? I took some liquid hydrocodone that was from 2006. ## Hello, Crissy! How are you? It would be best to dispose of the remainder and contact your doctor, if you still need this medication. The FDA classifies Hydrocodone as a narcotic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nasuea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. I took 2 10mg hydrocodone 325 acetaminophen for the pain of wisdom teeth coming in. I understand to drink as much water as possible but should I take it on a full stomach or eat with it?? I feel kind of light-headed but in no need of emergency. ## It can be taken either way, but since it may cause some nausea, and dizziness, according to NIH reports, some people do better taking it with food. Other side effects are listed as possibly including headache, drowsiness, constipation, and dry mouth. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

I had a spinal during csection it didn't go well and my back is in constant pain it's so bad I cry myself to sleep ## The best thing to do is go to you primary care Dr or obgyn. Let him know what is going on with you ask him if he can write you a prescription for pain order x-rays, mri's , c-t scan and refer you to a pain clinic. How long has it been since your csection? If not long and you are in that much pain I would consider ER. Seeing it is saturday so they can rule out any injury to bones, spinal cord , or nerves . Also they will help u with pain meds for a few days. Can't say for sure if it will be hydrocodone but if the pain is that bad they will give you a pain shot or pain pill so you have relief before you leave.

WHITE OBLONG WITH THE LETTER V ON ONE SIDE AND THE NUMBERS 3536 ON THE OTHER ## Is there a possibility that it says 3596 instead of 3536? If so, then it would be hydrocodone 7.5mg and acetaminophen 750mg. This is a narcotic pain reliever by the name of Vicodin. It is highly addictive and can cause constipation, lightheadedness, marked drowsiness, euphoria. If the tablet really says 3536 then I am unable to find it at this time.

He won't switch me back....what medicine will work for me? ## Same here he wont put me back on hydrocodone.....I'm having bowel incontinence with the embeda ## Hello, Dawn! How are you? What dose of the Embeda were you prescribed? There's a chance that it isn't equivalent to what you were taking. I started seeing a pm Dr after having major surgery on my shoulder 7 weeks ago. My surgeon listens to some gal in his office and had cut me from dilaudid down to hydrocodone leaving me in a lot of pain especially during 3x week therapy. The pm Dr put me on fentanyl patch 12 with nothing else. I had been taking 4-6 hydrocone 7.5 a day but now only have the patch. I have been feeling wds and the patch is not doing anything for pain and I cannot see pm for a month. I think I made a big mistake. How much hydro is the equivalent to the 12 mcg patch every 72 hrs ? ## Hello, Trish! How are you? Fentanyl is the strongest opiate that's available, so the patch is equivalent to just a small fraction of the Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the p...

Would taking 3 vicodin 500mg/5mg be the same affect as taking 1 15mg oxytocin ## Hello, Dreamy! How are you? Did you mean Oxycodone, the narcotic? If so, then no. Oxycodone is actually stronger than Hydrocodone. 15mgs of Hydrocodone is only equal to about 10mgs of Oxycodone. Did your doctor make this switch? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Thank you so much for replying im educating myself on all the different pain pills thank you

are there reported differences in strength or quality between the hydrocodone products of the different manufacturers? ## My doctor prescribed 5mg hydrocodone /apap as needed for pain not to exceed 4 hr intervals. The pharmacy dispenses the drug from at least three different manufacturers in differing forms of tablets. Are there studies or reports comparing the pharmacokinetics or quality control results for the tablets? ## No, there are no reports to be found to give you those precise details, but yes there can be differences from one generic manufacturer to the next. She was 83 with multiple heart and kidney issues - did not know if these issues would hinder the metabolism of the drug?

My wife is a chronic pain patient. Today she went to have her periodic office visit with her pain management physician. She has, for several years, been prescribed fentanyl transdermal patches, 75 mcg/hour, along with hydrocodone/apap 10/325, 1 or 2 tablets every 8 hours, PRN for breakthrough pain. She changes the patches every 72 hours. Today the Dr changed her treatment regimine changing the fentanyl to 100 mcg/hrs, changing patch every 48 hours. He took her off the hydrocodone/apap, and said if she still has breakthrough pain, that he will prescribe immediate release morphine to replace the hydrocodone/apap. Her Dr says that this is in response to new laws or guidelines from the DEA and FDA. Is this true? He said that they can't prescribe hydrocodone/apap for chronic pain any lon...
