I want to stop taking metoprolol ext rel 100 mg. after taking this my legs feel very heavy and stuff joints , can hardly walk. Also very dry mouth, headaches and light tingling of fingers. I am taking this for high blood pressure. How do I get off of this? ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Metoprolol is a beta blocker and it can cause those types of side effects in some people that take it, along with nausea, dizziness, hypotension, hair loss and stomach pain. However, when taking something for high blood pressure, it is very important to not just stop taking it, without replacing it with another medication. If you stop abruptly, it may cause rebound effects, which could include elevated heart rate and blood pressure that could lead to heart attack or stroke. Thus, the best thing to do woul...

I've had 2 failed back surgery's, I hurt so bad, through the years, yes I have taken more than I was suppose to, but changed Doctors 4 months ago and have done as told 5 Roxy's daily, with Gabad, (spelling sorry) the nerve meds for my hip and legs. I lead a pretty good life on these meds, but I get quite emotional and cry a lot because my life as good as it is, revolves around these damn pills. I am on a short leash with new Doc, see him every 22 days, except not wanting to spend the money, I don't have a problem with this. I quit smoking pot after 43 years in Jan '13, it sucks, I wish I could be given the medical stuff, not to try and feel high, but to help my pain, I live in GA, I will never be able to legally. To imagine, a pot pill and no narcotics. That would be...

I have been gainfully employed for 20 yrs. until 2 foot & ankle surgeries...I can not recive a Medical Leave as a precursor to my employment is to walk/stand for long periods of time...Currently on Lyrica, but my prescription coverage is due to run out soon. My Dr. doesn't take Medicaid or my current insurance..ugh, I am on the verge of losing all...Stress is high as I take care of elderly mom & disabled son. I know others have it worse, but its getting pretty bad..I tried Neurontin & other pain killers, no relief & made me droggy & sick... Any recommendations? ## You may wish to try applying for the manufacturer's patient assistance program called Rx Outreach, and another option for you would be to obtain a free Rx Discount Card which you can print and take ...

My back pain is through the roof, I fell off a ladder and cannot get a script. I can barely walk let alone work.I have no insure so I'm kinda up a creak and thw doc wouldn't even think of giving me a script ## The highest mg for Percocet is Oxycodone 10 mg/Acetaminphen 325 mg. If a dr has proof that you are in enough pain, they should prescribe you something for it. But that doesn't mean it will be what you want. You can go to a free or sliding scale clinic or a teaching hospital or public hospital if yuo don't have insurance. You will be charged according to your income. They will probably order diagnostics to see exactly what is causing the pain and making it difficult for you to walk. ## Thats not the highest. There is Percocet 30s. People give out awful advice. I have been on Methadone for about 5 years. I had an addiction to oxycontin and the went on methadone to quit. My highest dose was 120mg and I have managed to wean myself down to 17mg. The problem is I am having a really hard time getting off of it. Doing some reading I have learned that methadone is one of the worst for trying to quit. I have a perscription for 12mcg/h fentanyl for back pain which I havent been using but was thinking about quiting the methadone and using the patch instead so when I eventually drop it the withdraws won't be as bad. Has anyone tried this? is 12mcg enough? Any other thoughts or advice? ## I'm sending only a suggestion for you and that is...... If I were you the 12mcg. will be way way too low of a dose when coming off of oxycontin!!!! You should be...

Five years ago I was put on Seroquel during a very anxious, cyclic, bipolar episode due to tremendous stress in my world. What should have been a short term medication (for me), turned into an endless health nightmare. Weight gain, high blood pressure, trouble with making simple sentences in speech, extensive pain from weight I just could not fight, immune system compromised. After a while my anxiety increased and my Dr. increased the Seroquel and just kept pumping it in without listening to me about how physically miserable I was. I changed Dr.'s in November, and he is a Godsend. He put me on Lamactil and I have no side effects from it. However, even though I tapered off the Seroquel, I still suffered a horrible withdrawal that virtually lasted almost 7 weeks. I had a few good days...

how long does it take to be weaned off a medtronic pain pump with the med. dilaudid the pain management wants my daughter to come off it in one month is that to fast and will there be alot of side effects and withdrawal please help i'm really scared for her and they are suppose to start reducing tomorrow ## Dialudid is a potent narcotic containing the active ingredient Hydromorphone. It really depends on how high of a dosage she has been on and for how long. It should be done on a very slow taper, slowly decreasing her dosage every 5 to 7 days, until she eventually isn't using any. She will, more than likely, still experience some withdrawal effects when she finally does stop altogether, however, they should not be severe nor dangerous. Just somewhat miserable. Did they say why ...

Have been on Gabapentin for a year. Built up to 3200 a day for osteoarthritis in my feet. Decided to get off as it wasn't doing much for pain. My doctor brought me down to fast from 3200 to 1600 to 800 in 10 days. Now having stomach issues, anxiety, trouble sleeping, tightness in my chest. Been off of it for 8 days now. Does anyone know how long withdrawal lasts? Been told the higher the dose and time on it that it takes a while to feel better again. ## Hello, Sandy! How are you feeling? Have things improved, yet? There is really no precise time frame that can be given, because it can vary from person to person, it can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to over a month. As listed by the FDA, other withdrawal effects may also include rebound pain, fever, chills, and diarrhea. ## No...

Well yesterday was my last day of subs for me. I tapered myself all the way down to .5mg a day. I'm ok today but my back is starting to mess with me, but I'm fine. The highest dose I've ever taken was 8mg but didn't like the way it made me feel. I've been on subs for almost 5yrs now and it's just time to stop. I'M SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED!! It all started with a real bad car accident in which I rolled my car 4 times on I95 in Virginia almost 11yrs ago. Was put on pain pills and the next thing you know I was using oxy's and H main streaming it. Got clean then went right back to it. Went to methadone clinic, and then switch to subs and here I am almost 5yrs later. The hardest part for me right now is that I have a full time job that I like, an...

I am 14 years and i have a chest pain which is on and off so i have not yet got medication but i need your advice. Glavan. WHAT MEDICINE CAN BE GIVEN TO A PERSON SUFFERING FROM CHEST PAIN? NB: its not as burning pain ## Because there are a number of possible causes for chest pain, I highly recommend that you see a doctor if you can - they would be able to evaluate your condition and give a proper diagnosis and treatment. In the mean time you also might find FreeMD to be of some help since it is like a virtual doctor which asks you some questions, and might be able to give you more info. For chest pain: Please post back and let me know how it goes!

I have recently been suffering a MAJOR sinus infection...let me start off my saying I have taken tylenol and advil for all of my adult life...the 'hardest drug' has been Tylenol 3 with codeine. I am posting here becuase yesterday I went to the hospital, because I was in sooooooo much pain...They checked me out and ended up giving me a shot of morphine....a 5 mg shot to be exact. Is that a lot of a little?? I am very tall and weigh about 250 pounds.....but i didnt feel a thing!!! When I hear people talk about morphine, it seems like they were living high on a cloud....and for me, I didn't feel stoned AT ALL......I drove home from the hospital...and then I took 2 percs which I had at home....and still didnt feel relief.....is this normal?? I've been taking Norco 7.5 for over 2 years. I have severe degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my neck. In the beginning I took as prescribed by as most people it eventually took more to do the job. I am now highly addicted. I can and will take up to 10-15 per day if I have it. I want to stop. I have to. This has taken over my life. I've tried several tines on my own and I just can't. I'm wondering should I talk to my pain management doctor about this or where should I turn? I fear she will cut me off all together and I can't go through the withdrawals by myself. I'm thinking suboxone but don't know where to start with that. I live in a small town in Alabama and don't have a lot if choice where doctors are concerned. Where should I start? Who shoul...

I was prescribed opiate painkillers for 5 years. I gradually became totally addicted to the point that while these drugs ( Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Oxycontin and others) worked well for their intended purpose, the 'good feeling" they gave me became the focal point of my life. The unavoidable physical and psychological dependence eventually led to serious and harmful consequences- damaged or ruined relationships (divorce in my case) with people who were now less important than the drugs. Responsibilities and interests I had fell by the wayside. Although I have a legitimate need for pain relief due to nerve damage caused by disease, the doctor saw that I was abusing the drugs- taking too much and using them to get high- and cut me off. The withdrawal symptoms were horrific. I went ...

i have taken bystolic for 2 days and it made me feel like was having a heart attack can get right off are do still to go about slowly ## Hello, Sham! How are you? No, you'd not have to wean off, if you only took it for 2 days, but if you're taking it for high blood pressure, then you need to contact your doctor to try a different medication. It isn't safe to let high blood pressure continue untreated, doing so creates the risk of heart attack, stroke and congestive heart failure. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks, that will be all. I'm now on lisinopril. ## I had an EKG done because of light chest pain and shortness of breath. Trying to find out how much pain someone would be in off toung cancer ## Hello, Rilarry! How are you? All cancer can be painful, especially as it advances. The treatments can also cause a lot of pain and misery, so it really compounds things. However, I can't speak for how much pain any given person might be in, because pain is relative. Some people have a very high tolerance and pain that brings others to their knees has no effect on them, while other people might be totally miserable from a simple paper cut. Is there anything else I can help with?

My name is Jim and I recently moved (January) from Detroit here to Los Angeles. For the past 7 years I have been taking 30 mg oxycodone (not contin) for my debilitating headaches. I do have a doctors verification and my medical records to back me up Up to now I have been using the ERs for medical treatment. Because I have to go so often and I don't want to risk being labeled a drug addict, I find myself using different names sometimes to avoid this. I HATE that I have to do this. These headaches are keeping me from holding down a job. They are truly debilitating. Please know that I do not get a "high" from this medication. It only helps me function in this world. If you can offer any suggestions, I would be greatly appreciative. ## Hi Jim, I may not have a doctor I can refer...

Hello, I am a 24 patient diagnosed with foraminal stenosis, lower lumber facet arthopathy, degenerative retrolisthesis, and neuropathy. I was put on Hydrocodone 7.5mg 4XD (120 monthly) three years ago. I had to leave my original pain management doctor after over two years because they dropped my insurance. I had to rely on my PCP to prescribe my medicine to me, but she dropped it down to 5mg - 90 a month until I get into a new pain management doctor (due to see one the 20th) despite my body having built a tolerance and being used to the higher dosage. I didn't complain, I've just dealt with more pain and have been put on sleeping medicine to try to get rest. My doctor has taken me off, put me back on, denied refills and treated me like some junkie, saying I'm too young and s...
