can you shot it or sniff it ## has anyone found a sure way to break op/ oxys for injection ## no u can't that is the reason they started making them but i'm sure sum1 will figure out a way ## That is correct, even if you try to crush, chew or dissolve them, they turn into a piece of goo, so it retains its time released properties. However, it still contains the same narcotic and can cause the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Do you have any questions? ## yes yhere is a way google how to break down a oxycontin op you will see the forum there its not that hard and it works i have done it 20 times now you jus have to take your time ## this is how you shoot the op In the same situation . I used up all my oxycodonnes and only have OPs left. Plus havi...

I bought some op 20s with the coating scraped off already. They are easy to break with my fingers. Are they suppose to do that? ## I think you got taken. An oxygen 20 with no coating would have been hard as a rock. Sorry. Never buy anything without the coating. You can't verify what it really is without the coating and numbers. Be smarter next time!

{edited for safety reasons} Once completed your ready to go...once on syringe it should look just like smack (brown)...I've never shot anything up but I have seen someone do this with my own two eyes and it worked...how healthy is it for u? I don't know but what's it matter ...cuz chances are if your shooting up anyways lol it doesn't matter as long as it works and it does! ## Injecting medications that have not been specially formulated to use in this manner is a very dangerous practice. Tablets contain fillers and not all of them are intended to be used and broken down by the human body. Some of them are substances that are normally just expelled in your waste. When you break down a tablet and inject it, you are putting these substances directly into your body, in plac...

How to detox from home, I'm trying to get off these 30mg OPs I been prescribed for more than ten years, and I'm tired of the addiction,, please help me find a way to detox...... ## The only thing I can ever say helped me were a couple valium and LOTS of fluids, stay hydrated!!! Good luck!! ## A slow taper is usually best. However, the problem is that these are time released, so you can't cut or break them. How many do take each day? Have you consulted a medical professional for assistance? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression and diarrhea.

does the oxycontin dissolve in the stomach or the bowls ## I tried searching around for information on this but haven't come across anything explaining where it's metabolized, only how it's metabolized. It's a simple question you ask, but very difficult to find reliable information on. In terms of drug testing, Oxycodone is excreted through the urinary tract. Whether or not or it broken down first by the stomach or bowels is beyond my knowledge of the drug. I would think however that it is dissolved in the stomach acid, the same way most foods and drinks are metabolized, before they are discarded as waste. Just my opinion. Does anyone else have any information to add on this subject? ## Only that this medication is not nearly as effective. I think the time release mechan...

My doctor recently began prescribing me OxyContin 20 mg tablets for my EDS and arthritis pain. He also is prescribing me 20 mg of Pepcid for a stomach ulcer I have. From what my pharmacist told me the OxyContin is a time released medication broken down by stomach acid. The problem I'm having is with the Pepcid I'm taking I do not have enough acid to properly break down the OxyContin. I can literally see the pills come out in my bowel movements. I'm also having trouble urinating since starting this medication. My question is what type of medication can I ask my doctor to percribe me that will be able to break down with being on the Pepcid? From all of the research I have done as well as blogs I have read the most common medication prescribed is a 30 milligram Percocet. But is...

i have been on these 40 mg pills twice daily for about two weeks with Vicodin es 3 daily for break through, The oxy's only seem to last about 4 hours but they do kick in quicker on an empty stomach. I feel like they give me rush in th beginning, then after that its all down hill. i dont think the time release is much use, there new patent really is unproffessional and needs much more lab test to be done as well as they put less oxycodone in these op's which is a straight scamm, because they have a monopoly going on this drug and no competition with the generic companies. We need to contact purdue and the fda and complain and take our scripts to another pharm company. Make Purdue lose money and suffer just like us people in pain. Be proactive my people and take action. Much respe...

MIX 2 PACKETS OF KOOLAID WITH JUST ENOUGH WATER TO DISOLVE AND SWALLOW IT WITH AN OXY OP THE CITRIC ACID WILL BREAK THE PILL DOWN FASTER BEST IF USED ON AN EMPTY TUMMY ## I can assure everyone that reads this that the new Oxycontin formulation was thoroughly tested by Purdue in various situations, including someone's having a high intake of certain foods and beverages, to ensure it would retain its time released nature, so the only thing I can see this doing would be to make someone gag, due to the awful taste. Medications should always be taken in the manner they are intended to be taken, it is very dangerous to try to break them down and get them to work faster. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Your stomach acid is stronger than the citric acid. If you break it down t...

I've been on oxycontin 80 mg for years, I suffer from severe degenerative disc disease and c.p. These new OPs are junk, its almost like they added rubber cement to the pills. Breaking them down w/sandpaper or a cheese gratter isnt going to do anything other than gum up as soon as it hits your nose, because u r haven't removed the time release from the pill. Heat and/or moisture are what cause it to gum up....all your gonna end up w/is a really expensive booger.... people have to figure out how to remove this new time release polymer. W/the old OCs u could remove the time realease by cooking crushed OC, the time release was more like a wax so it was possible to remove w/heat then cold...someone who understands chemical equations and formulas needs to take a look at the new formul...

One year ago my pain mgmt doctor put me on Oxy OP but it ripped up my gut. Then he switched me to Opana ER and it too caused horrible gut pain. I read that the new formulation was basically some kind of plastic or polymer to keep it from being misused by people who want to abuse it. Because I could not tolerate these medicines my doctor decided to just let me continue to use hydrocodone 10/325 for several months since it worked fine for me. Now he's telling me I have to go back on either the Oxy Op or Opana ER, or another one (can't remember the name of it but it starts with a N) and use hydrocodone for breakthrough pain. What is in it that makes this so hard to digest and hurts my stomach so bad? I don't understand why the doctor wants me to go back to one of those meds sin...

I finally found and am now under the care of a wonderful pain mgmt dr. who is treating a years-long spinal problem. I was recently started at very low dose oxycontin OP/oxycodone for breakthrough. I've had zero relief from the OP, owing, from what i can gather, to the formula change from OC to OP. My doc, following protocol, is prescribing higher doses with every visit, but still no relief. I'm just one of thousands caught as collateral damage in the so-called "war on drugs" net. I take my medication exactly as prescribed, only for (as yet non-existent) pain relief. I had come across some posts on these forums as regards the oxy/coca-cola combo. I'd most probably not try it, but the pain has become overbearing. My doc, though sympathetic, can't do more than proto...

I been on all types of opiates and in some cases really high doses. now I'm back down to a reasonable dose of pain meds long acting oxy an 15mg 4aday Roxy ir for breakthrough. I'm supposed to have it in my system around the clock so the oxy 12hr med is not working at all it seems to me. I'm not a junkie so I have not ever been on the Actiq any mcg fentanyl lollipops an I see ppl saying how 1pop can last them on an off for a day but I'd like to switch the 2 20mg oxycontin for an equal amount of the say 400mcg lollipops an the 4oxycodone 15mg that do help my pain an get me through my day. I've been on opiates since age 24 and I'm now 38. I never abuse it but I know when it starts to get time for a dose. My stomach starts to kill me along with back pain hand arm leg...

I am currently taking oxycontin 40 mg and I going from a private insurance plan to a Humana PPO Medicare advantage plan and they don't cover it. Some of the other option they recommend from humana was Methadone, Hydromorphone, Codeine Sulfate, Fentanyal Patch, Morphine, and oxycodone IR. I know Oxycodone is the same active ingredient oxycontin but I also take Oxycodone 15mg for breakthrough pain. It helps somewhat but it does help enough. My good day after taking the medicine and having my spinal cord stimulation implant device on is a 5 but an avg. day is 7.5. To give you a idea what a five to me is I broke both of my arms with one bone poking through was a 5.5 and that is a good day for me. My doctor is very hard to get him to increase my dose. So maybe one of these other medicati...

Just switched over from oxy 30mg instant release 6x daily to oxycontin 60mg with 2 30mg IR for breakthrough. Been on this for a long time. I find that I'm very disappointed with the oxycontin 60 it seems to only last 5 hours at the most and I have many breakthrough pains during that period of time. I've heard of oxymorphone ER and want to know if this would be better for me due to opioid tolerance. If anybody can give me opinions on this please do. Thanks. ## First off, the 30mg that you're taking cannot be instant release tablets, the instant release is only available in a 5mg capsule. If you're taking 30mg tablets, then they have to be the regular release formulation, which is a generic for Roxicodone. Learn more Roxicodone details here. And the Oxycontin just doesn...

I just had to switch from 2 x 80mg OxyContin ERs a day, to 2 x 40mg Opana ERs with 3 x 15mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain. The Opana doesn't seem to be working as well. Does anybody know why that is? ## Why did you have to switch? It may just be that it's not the right medication for you, not every medication works for everyone that tries it. And if you just recently made this switch, it may be due to your body trying to adjust to the change. Learn more Opana details here. How long ago did you switch medications? ## I had to switch because my insurance will no longer cover the cost of Oxycontin. My pain was being managed very well with the Oxycontin 80mg. twice a day. The only other pain med besides morphine that they will cover now is Opana.

I have been taking oxycontin, now since they changed the the formula i am up to 120x2 a day with a breakthough. It stinks i still have pain with the op kind. I tried 100mg patchs of fentanal. Could never keep them on.Now i hear of a fentanal pill newly approved.I think this would be a lot better for me. Ant thoughts on this dillema I have??? ## Have you tried the Fentenal lollypops? (suckers?) ## The new tablets are sold under the trade name Fentora and they are available in several dosages, up to 800mcgs. The lollipop formulation that Kat mentioned is called Actiq. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? This is really the strongest narcotic available and you may have better luck with a different formulation. ## having trouble keeping fentynol patch on ## Fentora is an IR version of fenta...

I have MS and need pain relief. I don't like the stigma oxycontin has to it. I simply don't find it helpful. Is Opana a good substitute? I take 5 mg of oxycodone for breakthrough pain but sometimes it is not enough. If I don't deal with the pain appropriately I get sicker and more fatigue. I am not familiar with narcotics at all. I will admit a fear of them. Any answers please. ## BEEN ON OPANA AND THE ER FOR ABOUT 10 MONTHS NOW. I LIKE IT. DOESN'T SEEM TO MAKE YOU SLEEPY AFTER THE 2nd DAY. MY PAIN LEVEL STAY AT ABOUT A 3 TO A 6 NOW WHEN IT WAS A 10. ## ## I have herniated disks in my t-spine and have tried almost everything out there. how to sniff OP 80 ## The new Oxycontin OP has been specially formulated to prevent such type of use. If you try to break it down, it turns into a gummy substance that retains its time released properties. Side effects are supposed to be the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation.
