I just returned from the emergency room for a fall i took through the ceiling, and landed on a staircase about 12 foot fall. Anyway they gave me a shot of dilada 2 mg and another several hrs 1 mg the 1 mg had no effect so they gave me 1 more mg. I just returned home with my prescription for oxycocone 5 325. will 1 pill be equilavent to the shot? i dont want to take too much but without the pain relief my stomach and back muscles constrict so bad i cant get a good breath and I dont want to go thru that again while I wait for the pill to take effect. ## The 5mgs in the tablet stands for the amount of Oxycodone and the 325mgs is the amount of Acetaminophen. i'm on ocycontin 60mg 4xs daily my break through pain med is either hydrocodone 10-650 or oxycodone w acetaminophen 5-325 which is more effective for pain relief i have to chose one ## At that narcotic dosage, 10mgs of Hydrocodone, versus 5mgs of Oxycodone, they are roughly equivalent. The only way to see which one may be more effective for you is to actually try one of them and see how it works. The Hydrocodone option does have more Acetaminophen in it. so you may also want to base your decision on how concerned you are about that, since it can cause some stomach problems. However, efficacy wise, Oxymorphone is twice as strong as Oxycodone, though this doesn't take into account medications such as Percocet that also contain Acetaminophen. So, you'd only need 2.5mgs of Oxymorphone to equal each 5mgs of Oxycodone. Dilaudid, which contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone is even a tad stronger than that, because you only need 1.88mgs of it to equal each 5mgs of Oxycodone, once again, this doesn't take the Acetaminophen in Percocet into consideration. I find it ridiculous that sooo many people are messing around with schedule II narcotics yet have no clue to the potency, side effects, drug interactions, etc.. are you people not adults? Oxy is indeed a good 1.5% stronger than morphine and not at all subtle like morphine.. Most doses of Oxy that are between 15-30 mg are IR's not ER (extended release like most morphine)... For some reason I thought that oxy would be stronger--I think I heard it somewhere--but now that just seems wrong. It may help with your pain, but without the Acetaminophen it may not work as well for you, the only way to find out is to try it. Is it stronger or weaker and would it only take one to equal the equivalent of a perk 10 or 2 of the oxycodone 5mg ## Hi Julie, To answer your question, 5mgs of Oxycodone quite simply does NOT equate to 10mgs of Oxycodone + 325mgs of Tylenol found in Percocet. Usually when people abbreviate the term "perk 10" this means that it contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and nothing less. So even without the Tylenol it would still be stronger than 5mgs of the same substance. I hope this makes sense! ## Simple math here....5<10 same active ingredient.

I am currently taking OXYCODONE CAP 5MG and I will soon run out of these cap. I have plenty of Hydro Apap Tab 5 325 mg tablets. Can I take these instead to use them up. Then request a prescription for the OXYCODONE CAP 5MG ## The Hydrocodone isn't quite as strong as the Oxycodone, so you might not get the same amount of relief from it, though the Acetaminophen in it may help a little, with that. is one 15mg morphime IR stronger than two 10mg 325 oxycodone tablets ? ## No, one 15mg Morphine would be almost equivalent to one 10/325 Percocet and the reason I say almost is due to the Acetaminophen in the Percocet making it work better, so it's like having a dose of the Oxycodone that's a few more milligrams.
