I have had RA since I was nine. I've been on EVERY RA medication you can think of . I've had hips replaced and revised as well as knee replacements and spine surgery. It's been tough but I'm a fighter. All I need to know is how many norco 5's equal one 25mg fentanyl patch? I usually use fentanyl patches for my severe sciatica pain but I ran out and missed my regularly scheduled appt due to my husband having surgery. My Dr prescribed opana er 10 mg for pain. I was prescribed morphine sulfate er 60 mg and at one time was prescribed as much as 130 mg before i had surgery(gastric bypass which took a lot of pressure off of my back) and allowed me to lower my dosage. But since I've changed to Opana Er its just not enough for the pain. I don't sleep and if I do doze of I wake up from the pain. I'm desperate for help and think I need to be put back on morphine sulfate. My Gastric Dr instructed me to chew, crush or break my medications but with extended release you can't do that. I take methadone hcl 10 MG tab for Fibromyalgia. I have hydrocortisone Apap 7.5 325MG tab as a backup to help when the pain gets too intense. But I'm out of town and I'm out of methadone. I have hydroco. My question to you is, how many hydroco do I need to take a day to equal to the methadone. I'm take the methadone 4 times a day. ## There is really no way to compare the two and give you an equivalent dosage. It also doesn't contain Hydrocortisone, the narcotic opiate in it is Hydrocodone. All i keep hearing is people are dependant on pain meds etc.....but we are all dependant on some pill to work once in awhile or everyday, so why is everyone so hard on one set of people and not the other? ## Good question. I think it really just has to do with all the stigma around "junkies" or people who take pain meds for other purposes than what it's originally intended for. Other than that aspect, you're absolutely right that many people are equally as dependent on other types of medications too. They probably just don't get high or addicted to blood pressure meds or heart meds in the same way patients do with narcotics. Can I take Oramorph SR 60 mg if I am used to 100 mg of Vicodin a day? ## There are no 100mg tablet of Hydromorphone and Acetaminopen, if you were taking enough of them to equal that dosage, you have been putting yourself in severe danger of overdosing on the Acetaminophen. In that case, yes, you are probably better off and safer with the Oramorph SR. It contains no Acetaminophen and is time released. Generally hydrocodone the active narcotic ingredient in vicoden 7.5mg is .6 to .7 the strength of oxycodone. However Vicoden also contains APAP or acetaminophen which when used with the hydrocodone will attack the pain through a different mechanism of action. The other issue is that the 7.5mg vicoden is extended release and will need to be broken down in order to be more equivalent of the instant release you get on a 15 mg Oxycodone. It sounds like your best bet would probably be to ask your doctor for a stronger pain medication (that you can take less of) or opt for a safer, more natural alternative that can be used as an adjunctive therapy to what you already take. How many ibuprofen and acetaminophen equal 1 Vicodin ## Vicodin doesn't contain any Ibuprofen, so you honestly can't really compare it with this medication. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, whilst Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from codeine. Since neither of these are in the same drug class, it would be like comparing apples to bananas.
