how long does it take for eliquis to get in your system once you start taking it? ## Hi Kelvinator, According to The University of Washington Medical Center, Eliquis (Apixaban) reportedly starts working in your body to reduce blood clots within just a few hours after ingesting your first dose. So it doesn't seem to take very long at all in that regard. The way it is said to work is by blocking the action of a substance in the body that helps clots form. But if you were to stop taking it, Eliquis's effect will supposedly wear off within about 24 hours after your last dose. I hope this helps answer your question! ## My mother was on Elequis for 2 years before l researched the drug after terrible side affects. She stopped the drug 2 years ago but still has the terrible swollen legs...

Can I take Septra while on Eliquis? I have been on Eliquis for six months. I take 2.5 mg Eliquis twice a day. I have the flu bug now & my doctor put me on Septra. Is there a problem taking this antibiotic while taking Eliquis? ## I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but Septra is an antibiotic that is used to treat, or prevent bacterial infections. It will not do anything to treat the flu, since it is caused by a virus. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, non-allergic skin rash, and headache. Are you feeling any better?

My 91 year old Mom was switched to Eliquis and has been totally exhausted and suffering from confusion and memory loss. Anyone else having the confusion/memory loss issue? ## Hello, Freddie! How is your mom doing? Yes, those are known side effects of taking Eliquis, along with bruising, fainting and headache. Side effects should start to taper off in severity after about 4 weeks, as her body adjusts to the medication. But if they don't, or if they worsen, her doctor should be consulted. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes, my 88 year old husband has been on Eliquis since July and he is experiencing major confusion, and I believe even had a night terror. I have been taking Eliquis for 3 weeks and have had 3 gout flare-ups. I am not drinking beer and have had limited red meat and seafood (3 of the more popular triggers). Is there a connection between Eliquis and gout flare-ups? ## Hello, Todd! How are you doing? I am sorry about the problem you're having. Yes, gout is a common side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications? ## I started taking Indomethacin for the gout flare-ups and it worked good. I am not on any other medications. Hi I recently broke my hip, I'm 25 and have been given eliquis to take. It's been 6 weeks now and I'm experiencing my hair start to thin and fall out including my eyelashes. Does anyone know how long it takes to grow back or how long after stopping taking it, your hair stops falling out. At 25 losing my hair is pretty distraught, I could deal with the constant insomnia, low blood pressure and nausea but not this. ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH reports. Are you also taking any others? I have had that happen from medications in the past, so I understand how upsetting it is. You should probably talk to your doctor about trying a different medication.

I take 2 ELIQUIS tablets a day. One @ breakfast @ one @ 8 p.m. I would like to know if I can take Instaflex Advanced without any problems. ## Hello, Sally! How are you? You should check with your doctor, before taking it. It may not be safe for you to do so, since one of the ingredients in this supplement is Resveratrol, which may also cause blood thinning. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Eliquis as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with?

I got a DVT blood clot resulting from a severe ankle injury 7almost months ago. I had a procedure to clear up the problem. Also, I was on eliquis for six months. Two and a half weeks ago I got an ultrasound and my doctor said it was cleared up and time to get off the eliquis. He told me to take 325mg of asprin in the morning for the next six months witch I have been doing. The pain I had in the back of my knee and in my quadricept muscle is back with a vengeance. Is this normal? ## It is hard to say, it could be rebound effects from stopping the Eliquis, according to NIH studies, but there is also a chance you may have developed another clot. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? What type of procedure was done? Are you on any other medications?

Four months ago, I was found to have pulmonary embolisms in all segmental and subsegmental lobes of my right lung and my upper left lung. There was no known cause; all ultrasounds were negative as was all blood work associated with PE. My EKG was normal. My blood pressure is 120/70. I have been taking Eliquis since. I would like to quit taking Eliquis since no one can figure out what caused these and there seems to be nothing else wrong with me. So how do I taper off this drug? ## Hello, Georgia! How are you? I'm not sure if you understand the gravity of this situation, pulmonary embolisms can be deadly, if left untreated and, once someone has experienced one or more of them, they can be very prone to experiencing more. Thus, it is best to continue the medications, as long as your d...

I will be having an ablation in the very near future. When my heart returns to normal I will stop eliquis. I will be taking Tattokinase. It is a natural enzyme that gets the job done without the side effects. Please reserch about the benefits of nattokinase on the internet and get educated about it; it would take me too long to explain things about it here. And tell your doctor about it, demand that he would look into getting informed about it instead of pushing dangerous pharmaceuticals on you!! Nattokinase is a very effective blood thinner, it is natural with NO side effects. Since no body makes big money from it, it is discouraged by big ...
