I'm confused!!! In this thread, Gabapentin and Pregabapentin are said to be the same drug then someone else says no, they're difference. I CANNOT take Gabapentin as it makes me crazy and angry. Is Pregabapentin going to do the same??? Also is there ANYTHING else anyone can think of to get off of Oxycodone??? I've been addicted for 15 years and a heavy user due to true pain. The last time I ran out I almost died. Can someone please help me with any suggestion other than rehab or Suboxone to get off of this??? Thank you!!! ## Hello, Diva! How are you? I believe you have the names mixed up. They are Gabapentin and Pregabalin, they are both in the same drug class, but are different medications. Both are classified by the FDA as anticonvulsants that have been proven to help with ...

I am an opioid patient and when I can't get relief a friend told me that taking 400mgs of gabapentin helps the sickness. Is this true? ## Yes it does help, 600 pregab 2 times a day helped me a great deal. I have tried many times to come off opiates over 20 years in fact, never much success. But was able to come off completely with pregab just be warned, if taken for to long they are also addictive. ## Pregabapentin are stronger than gabapentin, and i meant 600mgs pregab, you can also use gabapentin it just depends how much opoid you are on, mine was a bad addiction. ## Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that is also used to help treat certain types of nerve pain. ref: Medline Plus Gabapentin It may help with some withdrawal symptoms, but it is a prescription only medication, so you wou...

Which opioid is less difficult to withdraw from first? Nabilone: 1mg x 4 times a day. or Kadian: 100 mg ER once a day. ## Hi shemas, Nabilone is actually in a class of medications called cannabinoids, not opioids. That said, Kadian (Morphine) would most-likely be the more difficult drug to withdrawal from. However, if you stop taking Nabilone suddenly, you may have withdrawal symptoms, so in my opinion it would still be wise to taper off this as well. How long have you been taking these medications for? ## I have been taking 100mg of kadian for over 5 years, Im terrified of the withdrawl especially since its been for such a long period, I don't know if Im addicted or not, I don't have an addictive personality. I was on Percodan for over a year due to extensive dental work. I use...

My friend was on 8mg of Suboxone for 8 years. Her doctor cut her back to 2.5mg on the last week and then cut her off due to Methadone use as well. My friend had taken pills during the duration of the Suboxone and also takes Methadone. What can I do to help her with withdrawal like symptoms, or what should I look for? ## In this situation it sounds as though one of the best things you could do for your friend is assist her in seeking some sort of substance abuse treatment. As far as symptom monitoring I would note anything indicative of w/d such as diarrhea, vomiting, insomnia, back pain, headache, irritability, restlessness, anxiety, sweating and the like. In her case I would also watch out for possible overdose should she get her hands on some drugs; pin-point pupils, shallow or no bre...

I am starting Suboxone tomorrow. I normally take 4 x 40 mg Oxycodone per day and also take 5 to 6 Vicodin ES. I want to be successful starting the suboxone and I do not know how long I have to wait before I start taking it. I really need some help and I want to start asap but want to see if this works before I ask my dr for a refill --- My dependence is costing me financially and is ruining my life. ## Want off pain meds. 56, female, want info on cheapest alternative to suboxone and adderall. Feel the air sucked out of me. My passions now seem like chores. I've been happily married 41 years. I love horses, cats, dogs, and my work. I used to enjoy caring for them all but have found it hard lately. ## Suboxone will make your cravings and withdrawal effects pretty much be gone. I used ...

My hubby and I started suboxone 9/9/16. Been taking opioids for a few yrs and have a high tolerance. I waited 24hrs before taking the sub. 8mg starting out. It did not help with the withdrawal symptoms... My husband waited 36hrs before taking his (same dose) we both were miserable for 3 days... Taking one 8mg a day and still no relief. Ended up relapsing bc we couldn't take it anymore. Needing help to get back on track. Why didn't the sub help after taking three doses?? How long should we wait before taking the sub again? After we took opioids again we did get relief from withdraw symptoms... ## It would help if we knew how much opiate you have been taking and what exactly it was. For example.... Like 30mgs of IR morphine three times a day for five years. Sub will start to stack...

I have been on suboxone for over 2 years now. I have attempted several times to stop using them but I haven't been successful. I take 1-2mg a day. I have tried weening more than that but suffered terrible withdrawals. I would like to know if anyone has been successful at this or have found another way to stop using suboxone. I thought this was a miracle drug for opioid dependency but its worse than opioid addiction. ## From what I can tell based on your description, I would honestly consider asking a pain clinic for assistance in tapering, since it seems to effect you so significantly. Just keep in mind that you definitely aren't alone on this matter. There are quite a few threads posted here with individuals trying to withdrawal from this dangerous drug. In the meantime you may...

I am on 15 mg morphine extended release tablets. Taken whole 1 every day. I want off off them. Desperate. Will not go on Suboxone. Will take Methadone am very serious and want off of these opiates. Tired of going into withdrawals. Been taking them every day for 5 months. Please help, advise where I can get help. ## Hi this is Tina. I forgot to add I am in Tampa, Florida. If anyone knows where i can get help without taking suboxone please write back to me. Thank you. ## Tina, I should caution you that with a minimal opiate intake like 1 15 mg tablet a day for only 5 months should cause very little if any discomfort. Methadone is designed for users with years and decades of very high opiate or opioid addiction. I'm not discounting your usage but I doubt any real methadone clinics will...

I'm coming off of years of benzodiazepine abuse. My methadone doesn't even affect me now. I shake as if I'm an alcoholic. I have been feeling isolated and hopeless. ## Unfortunately, since Methadone is an opioid, it doesn't always help with the withdrawals from Benzodiazepines. I am very sorry that you're miserable. How are you coming off of the Benzodiazepines? Are you tapering slowly? Coming off too fast creates the risk of your experiencing seizures, anxiety, and depression, which would be dangerous, so it is very important to taper slowly, under medical supervision.

I've been on 100 mg of methadone for 3 years. I'm on day 3 of NO METHADONE! Can I take tramadol to help With withdraw ## How are you feeling? Has your doctor instructed you to take Tramadol to help? It's a very mild opioid, so it isn't like to help much to alleviate Methadone withdrawals. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone have experience with handling Methadone withdrawals? ## I'm currently on 30ml of methadone but have recently been taking opiates. Now that I've stopped taking them my methadone isn't holding me like it did. Can I take Tramadol to help eliminate the wd's? ## U need 6 50.mg.pills please read the effects fir...

I have been on many different opioids for over five years after a very bad car accident. I have finally been on 60mg of methadone and was getting the mallinkrodt generic or westward pharmaceuticals but the accend generic puts me into withdrawal or I may be allergic to some filler they use but I am in tucson, az and need to find out what pharmacies to avoid or which stock anything but accend 10mg tabs now, but as the war on opioids have made for much tighter regulations I cant call and ask. They won’t say whether they do or not over the phone. Add to that even with a legit paper rx I had 2 major chains say they didn’t feel comfortable filling it because I’m “not an established patient and are not comfortable filling if I haven’t filled there before”. I worked with hospice for many years. If we changed pt from Methadone to MS Contin it was calculated at a 10/1 ratio. I was on 30 mg of Methadone but due to prolong q wave cardiologist felt med needed changed. I was put on MS Contin and the med tech argued that is a one to one conversion so my dose went up. When did the conversion change and why am I in such withdrawal and severe pain? ## Unfortunately, there is no definitive conversion between Methadone, and other opiates. However, the current ratio used is 1 to 4.7, this is taken from the NCBI Journal of Palliative Medicine. You may not be on the correct dose, at this time. Have you informed your doctor about the problems you're experiencing? The FDA warns that opioids carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effe...

How hard is it to get off Suboxone? I take 24-28 mg. Suboxone Dailey and have been for over a year now. How hard is it going to be to quit taking the Suboxone? Thank you I was addicted to opioids for over 15 years and got tired of being dependant on them but the withdrawals are so bad and hard do they ever really go away forever? ## You better make sure u take MONTHS to get off subox.....do not do it fast? I did & I suffered like a dog for weeks. Do it slow & you'll b fine guy. The withdrawals go away & you'll return to normal & even the urge goes away. NA also helped me. Good luck guy. ## The best thing to do is to consult your doctor and let them help you to set up a proper tapering schedule. Overall, most people who take Suboxone do end up being able to become...

I have been on suboxone for 2 years now for opioid dependency . Yesterday I saw an oral surgeon who pulled my bottom teeth for dentures. The surgeon peracribed talwin for the pain. Will this have any side affects taken with my suboxone, and or will it even work. I'm afraid I'll be sent into withdrawals or still be in pain. Please respond as soon as possible im in a lot of pain and Motrin is not working. ## Hello, Meagan! How are you feeling? No, the Naloxone in the Suboxone will most likely block the Talwin from working. Ideally, he should have had you stop the Suboxone for a few days, before doing the extractions. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsin...

My daughter stole four of my 8 mlg tablets. Of course she denies it but that's a different story. I have been on subs for years due to an option addiction I had due to a back injury. Anyway, I only take 4 mlg a day. I don't see my dr until wed and now I only have enough to take 2mlg a day. Will this be ok to taper from 4mlg to 2mlg for a few days? ## Did you go through any withdrawal? If so how bad was it? ## If you do so, you may experience some minor withdrawal symptoms due to the sudden drop in dosage, which may include nausea, diarrhea, rebound pain, rebound headache, tremors, sweating, chills, and fever. Ref: Opioid Withdrawal Information Although your symptoms shouldn't be as bad as they would if you stopped taking it entirely. However, the best thing to do would be to...

I am a 40 year old male.I have been taking 36mg of Dilaudid mixed with 120mg of Methadone, every day for 2 and 1/2 years. The sad part of this is that I do it by way of IV.I am scared to death everyday that my sources will dry up and I will be stuck going cold turkey.Based on the doses I mentioned above.Does anyone seem to think I could die from the withdrawals.I was cut off for 3 days a month or so ago and I felt like I was going to die. What a relief when I got them back after that.I have survived 2 different bouts of cold turkey (5 years ago) from large doses of benzos. This was before I had any idea that it is more dangerous than coming off of opioids. It was a total nightmare for 2 weeks solid with no food just small sips of water was all I could ingest.I was on a couch for 14 days stra...

Have been on cymgen for nearly 7 years now. It has worked but now the side effects are getting to be too much. Muscle stiffness, constant headache and I can't go a single day without them, it's the worst feeling ever. I have been a drug addict for 15 years and not even opioid withdrawals are as bad as cymgen withdrawals. I have tried to cut down to 30 mg but couldn't bare the withdrawals. Now I am on 60 mg and its seems to not work as good as it use to. Somedays I really can't get up. I am always so stiff in my neck.
