Hi My daughter has 2 bottle of amoxicillin in the refrigerator. Never used but already mixed. The pink one. The expiration date in the bottle says January 2018. Will it still be good to use? The actual date mixed was July 18 2016 ## In my opinion it should be perfectly fine to take. I say this because I would personally feel comfortable taking it based on the info you provided. Depending on storage conditions many prescriptions can reportedly last up to 40 years after the listed expiration date (with few exceptions such as tetracycline). Harvard University and the LA Times both have articles online recognizing this... But since it's not even January 2018 yet I wouldn't even begin to question its efficacy (especially because it has been refrigerated)... Does anyone else have thou...

My daughter has amoxicillin that has not been touched can she use it if date is 9/24/15 ## Hello, Susie! How are you? Is it a liquid or tablets? All medications tend to lose efficacy over time, so taking an antibiotic once it's expired can create the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, since it may not work as well. However, liquids can actually go bad. It really is always better to obtain a new supply from your doctor, if you need an antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ## Amoxicillin is good for one year when first purchased/received from the pharmacy.

My son still has two bottles of amoxicillin liquid that has not been opened or used since the pharmacist made it. How long will it last if kept in the fridge ## Hi, Amanda! How are you? Yes, antibiotic suspensions start to lose their efficacy once expired and taking an antibiotic that is not fully effective can be dangerous, since it creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Such liquids are only good for 7 to 21 days, depending on the type. Learn more Amoxicillin details here. Why didn't your son finish the medication? Unless his doctor instructs otherwise, an antibiotic should always be finished to make sure that the infection is fully eradicated and to help prevent the development of the antibiotic resistant bacteria that I mentioned. ## I used it as directed ...

Hi, I was just wondering if liquid Amoxicillin actually goes bad & could possibly harm someone, or does it just lose its potency? For example, liquid Amoxicillin kept in fridge the whole time, not quite a month old...there's no expiration date anywhere on the bottle, & there was extra left over after it was administered correctly for 10 days. Does it "go bad"/spoil like a food would? Thanks! ## Hello, Ricky! How are you? Yes, it can go sour and, while it wouldn't actually be harmful, it could cause nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps, if taken once expired, as reported by the FDA. Most liquids are only good for a few weeks, but the pharmacy should be able to give a more precise date. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Amoxicillin is actually only good for...

Hello, My 13 yr. Old son has been complaining about sinus pressure, has a runny nose and his ears bother him. I have a bottle of liquid amoxicillin that he's had from a previous ear infection, 2016. It has an expiration of 2019. Is it safe for him? ## If that is the expiration date listed on the label, it should be fine, but it is always best to double check with your doctor or pharmacist, and you should never medicate a child, unless their doctor confirms the presence of some issues requiring a medication. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. How is he doing, now? Has there been any change?
