My brother has been on this antibiotic now for over 56 weeks. He is getting very ill and we are trying to get them to take him off of it. I thought if on an antibiotic for a long period of time, could make the body resist it if needed in the future. ## Hi Marcy, 56 weeks is a unusually long time to be on any antibiotic in my opinion, seeing as most doctors I've gone to only prescribe a 7-10 quantity for general infections. Also taking antibiotics for this length of time could quite possibly be what's making him feel ill, not only due to potential antibiotic resistant bacteria like you mentioned, or side effects, but also because these types of antibiotics are known to diminish good bacteria as well, whereas the patient may need to take probiotics in order to help replenish what ...

Is amox-clav 875 still good if the used by date 6-18-14? ## Hello, LAS! How are you? Medications tend to degrade over time and become less effective, storage conditions can also play a role in that. When it comes to antibiotics, any lessening of efficacy creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, so it would be best to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am taking this med and I have muscle pain and feel very drowsy is this a common side effect and does this med interact at all with tamixifin ## Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid, the active ingredients in Augmentin, is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections. It can cause the drowsiness, but on the muscle pain, it's hard to say if that is due to the medication, the infection being treated, or something entirely unrelated. Have you consulted your doctor? And there are no interactions that I've found listed, between it and the Tamoxifen, but you should also check on that with your doctor, to be certain. ## Can I take Amox/K Clav 875-125 Tabs with Sudafed? ## What kind of infection is this medication good for? ## I have, what I think is a sinus infection...

I have a condition called diverticulitis is this the correct medicine to take to clear up a flare up and do you have to take it for the full 7 to 10 days? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? You should always take any antibiotic for the full period of time it has been prescribed. Not doing so creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. how long after med expires is it still good for ## Hello, Timmy! How are you? The best way to think of the expiration date would be to actually consider it a guaranteed full potency date. That is the maximum time that the manufacturer can guarantee that the drug will have its full beneficial effect under the most commonly used storage conditions. Past that date, the efficacy level starts to drop. Now, antibiotics can be more problematic than many other medications, because once they start to lose effectiveness, they may not properly eradicate infectious bacteria, which may result in antibiotic resistance, making things even worse. Additionally, if your doctor prescribed it to treat an infection and you didn't finish it all, as you are supposed to, then you are also running that same...

Is this a sulfa base drug ## From what I can this is not a sulfa based drug, as Amoxicillin does not appear to be on the list of sulfonamides I found (only two other antibiotics were listed). I don't know however, if this list is a complete list or partial list of sulfa based medications. For this reason, it may be a good idea to double check with your local pharmacy regarding this pill. I had fever and I took paracetamol and i got relieved. after that I have colds and feel that I have phlegm in my chest for 6 days now. I cough sometimes. I want to know if Natravox is good for my colds. ## Have you consulted a doctor? Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid, commonly prescribed in the U.S. under the brand name Augmentin, is an antibiotic that will only work to treat or prevent infections. This means it can help if your problem is caused by an infection, but it should not be used for anything else. A cold is caused by a virus and this will not do anything to treat viruses.

How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having, I understand why that would be annoying. How are you? I'm sorry about the ear infection, they can be quite painful. What is the expiration date on the prescription? I am taking amox clav 875 mg 2x/day with little to no side effects. If you will take a probiotic (eg. acidopholus) or eat yogurt with live and active cultures when you take this medication (or any antibiotic) you will avoid or significantly reduce the side effects related to the gut, especially diarrhea. If I can recommend anything, it would be to intake as many fruits/vegetables as possible (especially citrus fruits due to their high vitamin C content!). Also, water with real lemon juice is a really easy way to build your immune system and should definitely help to fight off the cold sooner.
