How Long Does Oxycontin Op Last

1st time taking oxycontin what can i expect? ## Hi thrillseeker, From what I've read, 40mg is considered to be somewhat of a high dose for a first time user. However, your reaction to it really depends a lot on your tolerance to narcotics. Someone who has taken them on a frequent basis and in higher doses will likely need to have more in order to notice any sort of effect on their pain levels. Also, you may want to be fully aware of the potential side effects that are commonly associated with narcotics (i.e. dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth, etc). A more complete list of side effects can be found here: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a682132.html#side-effects Have you taken any other types of pain medications prior to getting oxycontin?

this is in reply to all who are complaining to the new oxycontin 80 OP. I have been takeing them for 2 years now. My last scrip is still the OC. I pray they are pulled before we get them here. There are other meds we all can go to such as the fent. Patch which comes in a lolly pop too. I bet they will be pulled & back to the old ones before the year is out ## Pharmacies are allowed to continue to dispense the original product, until their stocks runs out, then all will only be able to get the new Oxycontin OP. There have, however, been many complaints that they do not work as well and cause odd side effects, even though they are supposed to work the same and have the same side effects. Anyone that has problems should report them to both the FDA and Purdue at the following numbers: P...

I would like to chime in here. If all possible do not take oxycontin er. I have been on them for 7 years now. I was taking Norco for a muscle disease I got for chemicals when I was in the army. I had a heart attack later on and my doctor at the time said I had to take these OXY. That it was safer if I knew what I know know I would have punched him in the mouth. I was on 140 mg er. I am now chemically dependant on them. It's miserable up and down wake up in the morning in full blown withdrawals. I have been self tapering myself off of them. This is a very very miserable. I am now down to 10 mg 3 times a day. Getting ready to go to ir's. I dropped 10mg ever couple of weeks to get here. I will never take another opiate when I can get off. If you are in my boat I am here to say you ...

my med had oc on it for oxicontin but now it has op. What does that stand for ## I am not certain exactly what it stands for, however, it has replaced the original Oxycontin with the OC marking. Oxycontin OP cannot be crush, chewed or broken down. If someone tries, it basically turns into a gummy goo, that is supposed to only dissolve in stomach acid and retain its time released properties. Side effects remain the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Has anyone out there heard of a brand new formulation called Oxycontin RF I got a letter from Purdue( I have been bugging them forever- so they have my address in records.) The letter was addressed to a person of the same last name as me, but different first name, and it got sent ...

It's been 1 week, and 4 days since I last drank a dose. I feel more over whelmed than anything at this point. I'm going crazy in my own head doing anything to drowned out the thoughts constantly watching movies, listening to music, and complicating the positives and negatives well continuing school. It's been almost 6 years since I started taking opiates my body is decayed, malnourished and run down. What I thought was a short term program after trying to quit opiates several times at detox on my 17th birthday I joined the methadone clinic in desperate need. At this time in my life I can truly say I didn't want to get better I was diagnosed with PTSD, and social anxiety. my daily doses was 95 mg plus I still had been abusing OxyContin when available it took me a year and...

Is there a easy way beside tapering slowly? ## No ## I broke my hand and was prescribed a strong opiate pain reliever. I have been on zubsolv for two years and recently tapered down from 12 mg to 6 mg. how long until the pain meds will work on my hand. I don't want to take risk of making myself sick or dependent but I'm in a lot of pain ## I just started Naltrexone 50 mg and I am very excited to start my new life of financial freedom. I took my last dose of oxy 15mg this am. How soon is it to start the naltrexone? Can I start with a small dose?

I have gotten 3 refill's of the NEW OxyContin they are not the same, they do not work as the old ones did, they do not last as long, it takes longer to take ANY kind of effect, I have went to the doctor, he does not want to change any thing, I called Purdu to find out how to get the old one's back, some one said if op is on the pill instead of oc it would be equal to the old one's. I was just given one of these pills as a substitute to taking 12 "512" percs a day. What am I to expect? How long is the time release? When should I take more if I ate some at 9am? Do they destroy you like the original OCs do? ## I am reffering to the 20 mg OP. Sorry! ## Hi Heidi, I personally don't have any experience with this medication, but thought I'd offer some information I've gathered, just to help you out: "Take OxyContin (OP) every 12 hours. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. Take your next dose 12 hours later. Call your healthcare provider if you are not sure about your dose of OxyContin or when to take it." Seeing this, I'm assuming that the time release effect lasts up to 12 hours. I could be wrong, but I do know that shortly wi...

I was prescribed both Oxycontin & Oxynorm in 2006 for chronic back pain in 2006, as you would know our system builds up a tolerance to opiods. I ended up on 80 mg of Oxycontin, twice per day & 20 mg of Oxynorm 3 times per day and other meds also. I was still in pain, I believe the weather also effects pain. I slept most of the day & night and had no quality of life and terrible memory loss. It is now 2013 & In the last 2 years I have invested in a infa red sauna, a spa set at hydro temp 40 degrees & a TENS MACHINE. As you would all know as time goes by our body becomes immune to the dosages & pain specialist just keeps increasing the dose. I have gone through un describable pain to reduce my medications myself slowly with the help of the tools mentioned. I would ...

OPON on one side. 60 on the other side round. Reddish in color ## If the marking is OP 60, then it is a 60mg Oxycontin tablet, which contains the narcotic Oxycodone in a time released formulation. Learn more Oxycontin details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been given 60mg oxycontin for severe pain however I have some concerns. Because this is controlled release does that mean a dose of oxycodone throughout the day at 60mg? Or a dose of 60mg that last throughout. In other words is it gonna be like I took 60mg of oxycodone at once?

But now on havery the issue of tapperring to get dose down .. but really struggling has anyone any advice ?? My Meds last 8hours and ment to last 12 so I'm basically trying to spread them over 3 times daily instead of 2 which means always short at end of month.. its the only way I've found that works for me. These tablets have changed my life and I've lost everything. Totally underestimated the impact it would have but then again doctors don't really tell you much before they prescribe.. I'm not sure how long I can go on like this and fear for me health as I've younot kids and it kills me to know ther

Hey all, I was born with dislocated hips and have had more than 10 operations throughout my life since I was born to correct the issue, according to my dr. It was the worst case he has ever seen and my hip bones and joints have fused into my pelvis I can not open my legs at all or spread them I can not run or jump walking is extremely difficult and I get tired fast and my legs are in a lot of pain after 27 years I had enough of it so my bone dr referred me to a pain specialist. Fast forward to three years later now I’m 30 years of age. My only hope is for a complete hip replacement and after being on pain medication for the last 3 years nothing is working anymore. My dr had me on 60mg of oxyContin 3 times a day (180mg daily) and short acting oxycodone twice daily. Now, my question...

Consider this! With the change related to Oxycontin my problem is the OP type of Medication just doesn't work! So... My doctor has added additonal 30mg Oxycodone's to my monthly medication list. The problem we are having is coming up with a near equal dosage. Depending upon which phamacist you talk to we are getting differnet answers. It doesn't matter howe many tablets you are prescribed the research is done by considering one 80mg Oxycodone and trying to come up wit hthe equal dosage using 30mg Oxycodone. Opinion's - One 80mg Oxycontin is supposed to last 12 hours giving 80 mg of oxycodone for the ful 12 hours, so if that is true then there has to be 960mg. of Oxycodone in each 80 mg Oxycontin. 30mg of Oxycodone tablets are prescribed for 3 - 4 hours. So it would take ...

Hello, friends! I started the Fentanyl patch 100mc today after OxyContin treatment my highest dose was 80OP up to 4 per 24 hours. I suffer from agonizing chronic pain due to severe nerve damage in my feet (medical neglect and misdiagnosed 3 years ago). I've build up opioid tolerance pretty quickly, so my doctor suggested the Fentanyl patches, plus, I felt "victimized by the system" - all and everyone plays the "Cops", lecturing me about the risks of opioids, treating me like a "junkie". Nothing against those that use these meds recreationally, but because of those very people, I will convulse in ER, and the attending doctor will insist on reaching my neurologist first before administering the pain relief... Finally, my doctor suggested these patches - I am MO...

How long do original OxyContin 80 mg tablets with OC and 80 prints potency last? ## Hello, Snappy! How are you? If they are still sealed in the original factory bottle, then they are good for 3 years from the date of manufacture. However, if that bottle has been opened, so they are exposed to the elements that cause degradation, it drops to one year from then. Other odd storage conditions would hasten the degradation, for instance if you were storing them in a plastic bag in a purse or backpack, because that could allow more moisture to build up. Or if they were store in a bathroom medicine chest, where it regularly gets damp and steamy. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth ...

I been on all types of opiates and in some cases really high doses. now I'm back down to a reasonable dose of pain meds long acting oxy an 15mg 4aday Roxy ir for breakthrough. I'm supposed to have it in my system around the clock so the oxy 12hr med is not working at all it seems to me. I'm not a junkie so I have not ever been on the Actiq any mcg fentanyl lollipops an I see ppl saying how 1pop can last them on an off for a day but I'd like to switch the 2 20mg oxycontin for an equal amount of the say 400mcg lollipops an the 4oxycodone 15mg that do help my pain an get me through my day. I've been on opiates since age 24 and I'm now 38. I never abuse it but I know when it starts to get time for a dose. My stomach starts to kill me along with back pain hand arm leg...

Just switched over from oxy 30mg instant release 6x daily to oxycontin 60mg with 2 30mg IR for breakthrough. Been on this for a long time. I find that I'm very disappointed with the oxycontin 60 it seems to only last 5 hours at the most and I have many breakthrough pains during that period of time. I've heard of oxymorphone ER and want to know if this would be better for me due to opioid tolerance. If anybody can give me opinions on this please do. Thanks. ## First off, the 30mg that you're taking cannot be instant release tablets, the instant release is only available in a 5mg capsule. If you're taking 30mg tablets, then they have to be the regular release formulation, which is a generic for Roxicodone. Learn more Roxicodone details here. And the Oxycontin just doesn...
