How long does the time release last on these pills?
2 Replies RSS
I was just given one of these pills as a substitute to taking 12 "512" percs a day. What am I to expect? How long is the time release? When should I take more if I ate some at 9am? Do they destroy you like the original OCs do? ## I am reffering to the 20 mg OP. Sorry! ## Hi Heidi, I personally don't have any experience with this medication, but thought I'd offer some information I've gathered, just to help you out: "Take OxyContin (OP) every 12 hours. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. Take your next dose 12 hours later. Call your healthcare provider if you are not sure about your dose of OxyContin or when to take it." Seeing this, I'm assuming that the time release effect lasts up to 12 hours. I could be wrong, but I do know that shortly wi... ...

HOW LONG DOES IT Take for a oxneo to take effect and start helping my pain once taken?
1 Reply RSS
I take a oxy neo 20 mg at 930 am and want to know how long before i start feeling the effects and how long will it last in my system ## Hi maria, The amount of time it will take for you to start feeling the effects of OxyNeo is dependent on your own unique body chemistry and whether or not you eat food directly before/ after you take the medication. It shouldn't take more than an hour for the medication to make its way into the bloodstream..but if you do eat something with the medication that could make the process longer. The dosing information I found says that if you aren't taking any other opioid medications, you can take (20 mg) every 12 hours if necessary. Therefore, I imagine that 12 hours is the amount of time the effects are supposed to last. However, like I mentioned p... ...

If I'm taking suboxone and I run out and take 5 20mg opanas. How long will it tske for the opanas to lesve my system. ## Depends on the 1/2 life of Opana? Plus you may not even feel the effects of it due to Suboxones long long half life ## @Jay, The length of time any medication remains in your system is going to be dependent upon several factors including: the dosage taken, the duration of time you've been taking it, your age, weight, diet, whether or not you're taking anything else with it, etc. The only way I can personally help you to determine how long it might take for the Opana to leave your system, is to tell you the half life (like Matt mentioned above). Opana (oxymorphone) has an average half-life of 7-9 hours, which means that every 7-9 hours half of your last dos... ...

i have never tried this medicine, but my dr has presribed OPANA ER for me...even though i wanted the direct release...what are the efects? ## The effects of this will be similar to the direct release or any other opiate narcotic, this is just a time released version, so it slowly releases the dose over a certain time period, which means it takes about 20 minutes or so to start working in your body, but lasts much longer in your system than the instant release. How are you? You have to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone, or it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Op 20 Pill Pink - cutting in half?
2 Replies RSS
Is it possible to at least cut these in half in order to take a lower doseage? ## These are time released tablets and, even though they have tried to formulate them to prevent it, cutting them in half could still result in your getting too much of the medication released, at once. The Oxycodone in this is a very potent narcotic analgesic and getting too much at once could be very dangerous. If you require a lower dosage, you should contact your doctor, as they can prescribe them in a lower amount. Are there any other questions? ## I have cut these into quarters with no adverse affects. So it is basically become a 5mg dose. I like these because they do not contain acetaminophen like most other narcotic prescriptions. So one pill can last me up to 2 days. ...

Oxycontin op 20 increased heart rate
1 Reply RSS
Just prescribed Oxycontin op 20 for the first time for chronic lower back pain from two bulging disks that are inflamming S1 and causing severe pain. I've been takng hydrocdone 10-325 for the past 5 years or so along with the injecions. I just took my first dose of Oxycontin op 20 and about 10 -15 minutes after ingesting my heart rate increased tremendously and was pounding through my chest. This lasted about 5 minutes then would return with less severity every 10-15 minutes later for about the next hour. Is this normal? Breathing was ok and I never felt I was going to pass out. Very scary after reading the warning pamplet that came with the script. It did help relieve the pain after the initial side effects but leary on taking anymore. ## Hello, Harley! How are you?
