How Long Does It Take To Withdraw From Oxycodone

I've been taking oxycodone 10 mg for the last five months. Today is my first day without. How long will it take to get it out of my body. ## It takes about a week for the withdrawals to go away. If you have gabapentin, double up on that, it will take away nearly all of your withdrawals away. ## @Debbie (thread starter), According to nih.gov, Oxycodone's elimination half life ranges from 3-4 hours in its immediate release form. Given this information, you can do some math to get a general idea of how long it might take to be completely excreted. For example: A 10mg dose could dwindle down to a mere 0.00072mg within about 24 hours, based on a 3 hour half life (dividing the dose in half, and half of every subsequent half every 3 hours). As post #1 suggested, my findings also indica...

Day 3 and the devil is still just sitting on my shoulder....I can't beleive how well I am actually feeling...Am I kidding myself, or could the worst still come? Over the last 7 years, I have been on morphine, percs, dilauded, etc, etc. Three days ago my oxy mg was 140 a day...What's up? Please help? ## In my opinion, It depends on how you are feeling now. the worst could be over. However, the devil will always be there from now on. You have to remember that only you and GOD can shake him off. Along with a good support system you can get rid of any addiction, just always remind yourself that you are strongger than any drug that man can make. GOD BLESS YOU, and remind the devil that you have GOD on your side from now on. ## It is also highly possible, that since you were taking th...

I'm from Brisbane Qld, Aust. ## Margie, are you prescribed these opiates that you are taking because if so your b/f cannot take away your son. Can dilaudid help oxycodone withdrawls? I had surgery and my prescriptions got all messed up in the process. I take atleast 250mgs a day and now I have withdrawls cause I can't fill my perscription for 10 days. Please help! ## yes dilaudid will help with oxycodone withdrawals but there is a problem with dilaudid you can eat and get unsick but to get the real bang you have to abuse them and alot of people start just by doing it one time then cant stop because it is the best high you can have just being honest ## Dilaudid is just another narcotic, so yes it can help, but you do need to be careful not to take too much of it, or you run the risk of overdose. I have been prescribed oxycodone 30 MG's for about 4 years 1 to 2 a day. I decided on the 11th of this month enough is enough! I hated the daily routine in order not to be sick for the day that I had to continue to take them. I became committed to do this for myself and children especially. They don't need a part of me they need all of me. I live in Az and it is harder and harder to come by. I could never see myself putting a needle in me and becoming a junkie. The problem that I am experiencing is that the symptoms continue to linger on, still really sick. When will the days get better? Seems it stays the same. ## Hello, Stef! How are you feeling? Has there been any change? When I went off of my pain management medications cold turkey, after being on them for several years, I f...

Was on Norco 10-325 on and off for a few years due to back problems. Had l4/l5 Laminectomy and was sent home with 5mg oxicodone. It's been 16 days since surgery and I tapered down from 2.5 yesterday. Last one last night at 10 pm. Withdrawals kicked in at 2:30 pm today! Not too bad. But the abdominal pain is bad when the immodium wears off. How long will this last and will it get better or worse physically tomorrow and the next day? No RLS yet. Is it comming???? I want to be done! ## Just wondering how your withdrawal experience went? I weaned the exact same way Im down to 2.5 mg tomorrow for two days then Im done. Just curious what Im in for?! ## I found the rebound pain to be the worst problem, when I stopped pain management, but I didn't taper. I just stopped. But I had extrem...

I've been on Oxycodone for 7 years. 5 mg 2 to 3 times a day (sometimes 4 times a day on a bad pain day) I've never been without them. I had shoulder and back issues which caused a pain doctor to put me on them. My job changed 2 years ago to where I shouldn't need these meds as I don't do anything labor intensive anymore. I'm still on them. My doctor said stopping shouldn't be an issue, just taper from 3 a day to 2 then to 1 and then 1/2 but I find myself going through sweats and sickness when I take just 1 a day. Looking at the clock to see when it's been 24 hours so I can have another one. Pain aside, the sweats, running to the toilet and the creepy crawly feeling on my skin as if I am going to go insane. What should I do? Should I just stop cold turkey at th...

Hi, I suffer from chronic pain (lumbar spine) and see a pain management doctor. I've been on medication this time for about 10 months, before that I had about 8 months off of everything following 1 year of taking them. I'm looking for some answers about my current dose of Oxycodone, I'm wondering if my dose is considered normal or on the high side and also what side effects other people have experienced on OxyContin & Percocet. I am thinking that I may want to get off of it and wondering if it's best to taper down or just stop. And if taper down how would i do that. Really I have a lot of questions and would love someone who knows about this stuff to respond. I have googled a million times but never find a thread that is active. I have also tried to talk to my doctor...

Ive been taking 20 mg oxycodone daily for the past 6 months just to take the edge off, didnt think it would be that big of a deal because Im not very familiar with the drug. Before that i was a heavy H addict for 13 years, but have been clean for the past year after going through a 2 year program at a commune. The last 2 days Ive been taking half a pill (5 mg) early in the day before work, than another 5 mg after work to somehow get throught the day. I got 3 days to myself now. I know its not comparable to the numerous weeks, months and years of withdrawals Ive gone through but its always messed up kicking this. What are the best household remedies i can use and can i get off this garbage in these 3 days? ## Hello, Quickz! If you're down that low, the withdrawals at this point shoul...

Have been using opiets for over 35 years. Started with auto accident. Doctor prescribed over a long period then passed away. Was addicted and had to purchase illegally locally. Now still having problem with addiction and paying most of my SSI and Retirement for what I can get. Went to a mandatory class in Elizabeth City, NC several times weekly just to be able to get prescription for Suboxone. It worked but got tired of sitting 3 hours in class with young people and now back on the hard stuff. Why can one purchase cigarettes and liquor that kills but I can't get the necessary drugs to make me feel normal. Is there any help in sight? ## One of the many flaws of this country is how our federal government controls and regulates whatever it is they "consider" to be safe and disr...

I would like to chime in here. If all possible do not take oxycontin er. I have been on them for 7 years now. I was taking Norco for a muscle disease I got for chemicals when I was in the army. I had a heart attack later on and my doctor at the time said I had to take these OXY. That it was safer if I knew what I know know I would have punched him in the mouth. I was on 140 mg er. I am now chemically dependant on them. It's miserable up and down wake up in the morning in full blown withdrawals. I have been self tapering myself off of them. This is a very very miserable. I am now down to 10 mg 3 times a day. Getting ready to go to ir's. I dropped 10mg ever couple of weeks to get here. I will never take another opiate when I can get off. If you are in my boat I am here to say you ...

I've only been taking subs for the last 2 days roughly at maybe 8-10mg for those couple of days. How long should I wait until I take oxycodone to make sure the effects actually work. I have no other history with suboxone and the last time I took any oxycodone was a little over 2 weeks ago. I would say my metabolism is above average. However, I just don't want to waste the 15mg of oxycodone that I do have. Also, do i have any risk of randomly having withdrawals from the oxycodone after taking it this one time? ## Also, I forgot to mention that it has been almost 2 days since the last dose of suboxone(which was about 3mg). ## I'd like to know the answer to this as well as most cases have people who have been on sub for years. ## Finally the question I need answerd... and no an...

I am scripted oxycodone 5mg 3x day, but for the past 2 months I started taking 80-90mg a day. Last Sunday I decided I needed to stop and taper so I had to drop from 90mg to 10mg a day. It has been 6 days. I can't stop crying. I am hopeless. I don't know if I should just stop the 10mgs or if I should keep tapering down. I don't know why I started taking so much, but I do need it for pain and I do have someone that can monitor the administration of it to me. My question is...when will this end? The crying, depression, vomiting, diarrhea, hopelessness. Do I keep taking the 10mg and taper down to 5mg or am I going to continue to go through this mental and physical hell. Please help. I am on an antidepressant and a very low dosage of clonazepam .25mg at bedtime but just feel abso...

I've tapered down from 20 mg oxycodone ( for 3 months for back pain) to 5mg for the last eight days. I want to get this process over with, of course. I could drop to 2.5 for week or just stop oxycodone now and prepare for the symptoms. My dr has given me adavan and clonidine. Advice please. ## So, you sent from 4 x 5mg per day to 1 x 5mg per day? Is your pain under control? 3 months isn't that long of time. If I were you, I'd change to 2.5 mg 2x per day then cut it to 2.5 once a day then that is it. ## When you think u tapperd down enough dont do none for 2 whole days then after 48 hours take a little bit, but dont get all loaded. Just take the edge off a little so you will sleep and wake up almost normal. I'm about to do it, hopefully i can quit. It's a mother f***e...

Dr put me on 5 mg oxycodone (20 mg a day). 1 capsule every 6 hrs. I've been taking it for 9 weeks due to TKR and the Manipulation of my knee under anesthesia. I have to get off of it but I'm panicking because I think I'm already experiencing withdrawal. The oxy only seems to help for 2 hrs and then I become agitated and anxious. My pain increases. How do I taper and how long will it take? I'm supposed to visit my daughter in 3 weeks and I don't want her to see me like this! ## Any time you ingest something for a long period of time, suddenly stopping it, or lowering your dose may result in withdrawal effects, but as long as the substance was only being taken as prescribed, they are usually mild, and short-lived. I've been on opiates for years, and I just want to offer encouragement to people who may be going through withdrawals. If it's urgent I'm here. I must of posted my problem somewhere else on this site, sorry but I can not think straight. For 6 years I have taken oxy's for RSD. Something I never heard of in my life until after 4 surgeries, including titanium cage, in a period of less than 2 years I developed firery burning sensation in right thigh. The edema made my legs look like tree trunks. Nothing could touch that leg. Being a female I was able to switch to wearing skirts and sleeping with blankets held up with a contraption. No matter how much Vicodin or hydrcodone I was given nothing touched the pain. I suffer from cluster attacks. My Dr has tried everything under the sun to try to treat them. They are chronic, lasting a year now with no more than a 2 or 3 day break. I usually have one during the day at 10:45 am and 2 at night. Once 1.5 hours after falling asleep and another 1.5 hours after falling asleep after the 1st night time one finishes. The day time one lasts for 30-90 minutes and both night time attacks last 2-3 1/2 hours. 3 days ago, while at his office at 11:45 I had one right there in his office. He performed 2 sphenocaths and gave me a shot of Torrodol with no effect. He has in the past prescribed me many headache treatments all designed for migraines, I think he's finally realizing that cluster attacks are not migraines. Anyway, after spending 3 hours in his office 3...

I'm wondering if I'll have any kind of withdrawals going from 120 mg of Oxycodone a day down to 60 mg a day or will things be fine since I'll still have it in my system? ## Yes, you will likely experience some minor withdrawal effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, rebound pain and chills. That's a pretty big drop, it's usually best to do a slow, gradual taper. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you very much. Do you know about how long that will last? ## I went down from 120 mg Oxycodone to 60 mg & I'm going on my first 24 hrs with only a single 20 mg pill left can someone please tell me what I can do about withdrawals for 2 days & detox isn't an option for me...Thank you ## You can take Imodium....
