i am on oxycodone 15mg 4 times a day and 30mgs of methadone. I now added a 75mg patch of Fentanyl. Will the patch work? Will i feel the patch? It's been on for 3 hours and i don't feel any different. ## I'm on 30 to 40 mgs of methadone daily and 15 mgs of oxycodone daily. I ran out of my meds and cant fill my them until tomorrow. I was given 2 x 75mgs fentanyl patches to use for 24hrs. I can fill my meds tomorrow morning. I used one of the patches and i just put the other one on. Will i have withdrawals or should i be ok for 24 hours? I will have meds at 9:01am tomorrow morning. ## @Someone who hurts bad, Sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately the only way to find out if something will work is to try it. And from an outside perspective it sounds like the 75mcg of ...

After one fentanyl 50 (much less than 18hrs on skin till he ripped it off) my boyfriend is so sick. He does not want to get out of bed because every move makes him more nauseous. He has thrown up all day. Doesn't know how as he hasn't even held down a sip of water or even ginger ale. I tried to get him to eat a piece of toast and the smell of it made him throw up. He hates pain meds as they usually make him feel horrible. He had back surgery in 08, has had inj's in lower back 3 times in past year. His PC dr has given him Lyrica this week before this fentanyl. He stopped it as he just wanted to sleep. He is scheduled for an MRI on Friday. How long will he be this sick? ## I am so sorry about the side effects he experienced. I had the same problem when I tried Fentanyl years a...

I put on my 50mcg patch 15hrs ago. Should I not feel the full effect of relief by now? ## Dear Richard, yes, u should feel it by now. I use 2 b on the patch, but they never really worked well 4 me. Maybe your like I was or u need an increase.GOOD LUCK! ## Hello, Richard! How are you? A Fentanyl patch? If so, Cats68 is right and you should be feeling some effect by now. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. But, they also don't work well for everyone. Have you informed your doctor, yet?

I took two 5.7/1.4 zubsolvs yesterday morning at about ten o'clock. How long will that block the therapeutic effects of opana for?? ## Iv only taken 1 zubsolv yesterday afternoon it is now 18hrs later, will I feel a fentanyl! ## I took one zubsolv at 9am. How long tell the blocker is gone? It's the only one I have ever took. Help would truly be appreciated ## Ive heard 24 to 48 hours but u should ask a medical prof to be safe. ## I concur with Jen in that 24-48hrs is a general estimated time frame that patients would typically wait for; albeit this window of time may vary for each individual depending upon a variety of factors. If you browse through some of the related discussion threads here pertaining to Suboxone (i.e. Zubsolv's twin) people tend to follow the same inheren...

Hi I am on 25MCG Patches do you ever get used to the weird feeling in your head, or is that the trade off for no pain? ## You mean they actually take you pain away? Do they make you sick to your stomach? If your only problem is a bit of a funny feeling in your hear, then I would say, deal with it. But be careful if you go out driving. If you are pulled over, and act kind of drunk, you will get a DUI. ## All the funny feelings will go away with time. Make sure your Dr. Will continue to treat you and not decide one day you don't need it no more when nothings changed. You'll get sick for a good four days from the withdrawal. No sleep, restless leg syndrome etc. great pain reliever just don't abuse it and it'll work great and in a short time you won't even know you have ...

I am being changed from 50mch every 48 hrs and 40 mg of hydrocodone a day to oxycodone and the doc only gave me 15 mg three times a day ir release and i am hurting bad. I have a feeling this is not even close to what i am use to. What should i do or say to my doc. I am working with the va military docs which are very strict. ## So you were on a Fentanyl patch that you changed every 48 hours and the Hydrocodone and they've now cut you down to 15mgs of Oxycodone 3 times a day? There's really no way this is going to work, you're going from a time release patch of the most potent narcotic available, down to just 45mgs a day of Oxycodone and that's not even taking the additional Hydrocodone into account. Did they say why they made the switch? Learn more Oxycodone details here...

I have stopped taking perc 5mg on Sunday still feeling a little funny how much longer will this last??? ## It really depends on how long you were taking it and how much you were taking regularly. It could take anywhere from a few days to about 2 weeks. This is classified by the FDA as a narcotic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and withdrawal effects, if you stop taking it suddenly are normal and may include nausea, headache, rebound pain, diarrhea and dizziness. Are you feeling any better, yet? ## Withdrawal from Percocets, tramadol, darvon, etc... will make you go through tremendous pain if it was used for pain. Nausea, hot and cold spells are expected but I believe you feel crummy for 3 days but can still function. People who withdraw off of morphine, fentanyl, and othe...

I'm new on 100 Fentanyl patches for the second day - feel OK, I've been on opioids for pain management for few years, read a lot of scary posts on misuse and deaths... I am so worried at this point, that taking a shower scares me.. Can anyone suggest any "coverage" for the patch area, while in a shower??? I don't think I can just "take a shower as is", it will come off, I'm sure... I like the patch, it does work (I intend to use it EXACTLY as prescribed), but I am, as mentioned before, simply paranoid that I will get the patch wet, damaged, etc... Also, I read a "hot showers are a BIG NOs" - anyone tell me more about it??? Please friends, I need a shower badly, it's not fair to others and members of my family, the girl needs her hair done! :) ...

Ok..so I've been on Suboxone 8mg strips for 2 years. However, I've been only taking 4mg a day starting a week ago and have only taken 1mg the past 2 days. I have a fentanyl patch because, frankly, I'm tired of suffering with my ungodly back pain. My question is probably predictable, but given the low doses I've taken, if I use the patch tomorrow morning, will I feel the effect? If I do use it, tomorrow morning will be 24 hrs since my last dose of 1mg suboxone. ## Generally, it takes 72 hours for the Naloxone in the Suboxone to process, before you can take other opiates and have them be effective, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, s...

Hi all. I have seen a lot of posts in the drugs forum about Fentanyl withdrawal. I too have been struggling with the withdrawal symptoms for 10 days now. Trust me when I say it DOES and WILL get easier. I know that if you have just recently started a taper or have gone cold turkey because a taper hasn't worked for you, you're probably not feeling very well right now.Trust me when I say it will get better. It may take weeks to finally feel normal again, but the worst will be over before you know it! I was on 100mcg/hr for about a year, and just recently tapered to 12.5 but went through withdrawal anyhow. Here are a few things that might help, and that have helped me get through the worst of it. ****REMEMBER***** To consult your doctor before pulling yourself off any medication :)...

I started seeing a pm Dr after having major surgery on my shoulder 7 weeks ago. My surgeon listens to some gal in his office and had cut me from dilaudid down to hydrocodone leaving me in a lot of pain especially during 3x week therapy. The pm Dr put me on fentanyl patch 12 with nothing else. I had been taking 4-6 hydrocone 7.5 a day but now only have the patch. I have been feeling wds and the patch is not doing anything for pain and I cannot see pm for a month. I think I made a big mistake. How much hydro is the equivalent to the 12 mcg patch every 72 hrs ? ## Hello, Trish! How are you? Fentanyl is the strongest opiate that's available, so the patch is equivalent to just a small fraction of the Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the p...

Does this come in a extended release pill form? ## I would ask a pharmasist, or look it up on google, but I am pretty sure it only comes in patchs and lollipops Pat ## Good Morning I have been on fentany patches for about 2 years, and have recently had major reaction at site causing bliistering, scabbing, some bleeding, and feeling up and down regarding pain.I have spinal injuries in neck, and back.I have also had neck and back surgery, but have since fallen on ice very hard and have damaged neck and back.I need to know if there is a pill form in controlled release to replace patch?.Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Thank you so much for your response. Sincerely Robert ## No, there is not. The extended release formulation is only available in patch form. The FDA warns that this medi...

I am a 46 year old woman who was recently put on a fentanyl patch for chronic pain related to late stage lyme disease. 13 hours after pitting on the patch I was feeling well so I turned on my electric blanket and went to bed. 70 minutes later I woke up having a difficult time breathing , I felt like I could not get air and my heart felt like it was going to stop. I got up and tried to walk around still struggling for a good breath. I took my bllod pressure it was 88/54 heart rate was 51. I decided to call the dr. Who said to remove the patch. Apparently I was having an allergic reaction but moreover the patch should NEVER be used with any heating device electric blanket, heating pad on the patch or hot tub. None of these wee ever mentioned. Please please use caution when using the patch...

I have been addicted to 150mcg. of fentanyl patches. I'd like to know why suboxone is taking so long to make me feel like I can function again? Took it before to get off methadone and it worked great. I have been on 16mg of suboxone for 45 days but now I have no energy and feel like I was hit by a train. Is there anything I can do or take to function again? ## Hello, Teresa! How are you? You may not be on the right dose, yet. Suboxone can be dosed up to 32mgs a day. Have you informed your doctor of the problem, yet? The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. HELP; i suffered severe spinal injuries nov 2004; first i was prescribed T3's for pain, then tramadol, oxycocet, then oxycontin, anf finally was placed on fentanyl; Due to problems with the patch I chose to start a drug reduction strategy; I went from 50 mg patch's every 48 hrs to every 3 days for a month, then to a 25mg patch every 3 days for a month; then stopped cold turkey, i have some 10 mg ihc oxycontin i take when the pain is unbearable but am having terrible insomnia and just feel like hell warmed over, chills, nausea, feeling yukky. so far i have been able to limit the 10 mgs to 3 a week, but when i take a 10 mg oxy, i feel alot better...what can i do to get off all meds? ## Well, the first thing you have to understand is that Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, it is ac...

I WAS ON THE FENTANYL 50 MG PATCH FOR A LONG WHILE THEN WAS PUT ON A LOWER DOSE OF 25 MG AND THEN 12 MG TO SLOWLY TAKE ME OFF, AS I NO LONGER AM IN PAIN. BUT I HAVE HAD FEELINGS OF ANXIETY AND CAN'T SEEM TO CALM DOWN. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO CALM THESE ANXIOUS FEELINGS. OR DO I HAVE TO LET IT (THE ANXIETY) RUN IT'S COURSE?? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Sometimes they will prescribe a low dose Benzodiazepine, such as Xanax to be used for a short while. Other people have had success using something very mild, such as Benadryl. However, you need to check with your doctor to see what's right and safe for you to use. ## vERWON IS SPOT ON WITH ALL OF HIS ADVICE, ESP THE XANAX. Some people, like myself, have a paradox reaction to benedryl meaning that it makes them anxi...

I've been on Fentanyl 100mch for over 7 yrs due to severe Neuropathic Pain in my right arm as well as Spinal Stenosis in my lower back. I also take Ultram 50mg for increased night pain. Due to an insurance issue it's been 8 days since my last patch. I feel no withdrawal symptoms. No dizziness, no nausea, no increased anxiety or sleep problems. I don't even feel an increased pain level. Is it too soon for symptoms, or does my body process Fentanyl differently? ## Hello, Kaasan! How are you? Some people don't, though we don't know why, but some people can just stop some medications like this and not experience withdrawals, or their symptoms are so mild that they aren't problematic. Are you still doing well? As listed by the FDA, the typical withdrawal side effects ...

Well the par is gell filled and sandoz is matrix and about to expire in may so now i am feeling withdrawl while wearing a fresh fentanyl patch does this mean got some duds I tried one of each and I am getting absolutely nothing :-( ## Hello, Starshadow! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. What other pain medications have you taken? It sounds like this might be too low of a dose to help you. There are higher doses available. Hey All, I was placed on the 50MG Fentanyl Patch in 2005. First told by my doctor's to change it every 3 days Then a week later I was told by a different doctor but, at the same clinic to change my patch every 48 hours. The first 2 years on the patch I did change it every 48 hours. I also was able to workout every day with it on and that helped my illness so very much to stay in shape! If I had missed one day of not changing my patch? I noticed in the morning I would get this horrible feeling all over my body like I had to keep stretching my legs out and my arms etc. Also an overall feeling of sickness. Then I remembered I didn't change my patch the night before. After incidents like them I started to separate the days on my patch more and more by doing this: I'd place the n...
