ive taken 132mgs of suboxone over the last 2 weeks how can i guit ## Hello, Nolabob! How are you doing? A slow taper would be best and safest, your doctor should be able to help you set up a proper tapering schedule that will prevent most of the withdrawal effects. Have you discussed it with them, yet? This is an opiate, so withdrawal effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, fever and chills. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. ## Hey Vermon, My Dr has me on 12mg of suboxone 1 time daily I told him I wanted to get off of them asap I was sick and tired of being sick an tired Im 62 yrs old an had an addiction problem all my life or rather since I was 8or 9 yrs old . Suboxone/Subutex should be used one way and one way only. Start with the professionally recommended dose; (usually according to one's opiate intake) and ween off of it in 5-14 days. Any longer than that and it becomes a crutch, simply trading one demon for another. I know people that have been on it for 3yrs, and when it came time to stop...HELL. I took it for a year. Mistake. I suffered worse withdrawals from that then any other before. I relapsed. Relapsed with a plan of pure Will. I used vicodin for two weeks, weened myself off and suffered much, much less. Suboxone is powerful s***, not to mention expensive. I am a member of Pills Anonymous; therefore, I am speaking not only from my own experience, but dozens of others. Trust me; save yourself. Aloha ## Thank you for your post. ...

Hello I have been on opiates for about 2 years now and I was given a half of a quarter of a subutex and this is my first time taking it. I was wanting to know when it wears off? I think it threw me into full detox because I took 20 mg of hydrocodone 7 hours before I took the sub. I am aware I have a problem I just want to know when the sub will wear off. Took it at 1:30 pm, it's now 9:30pm. ## It usually takes about 72 hours, before other opiates will be effective for you, again. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## That is not necessarily true. If it's the only one he has ever taken and in such a small do...

Ive been on one mill sub for two years went a day without it took two vikes that were prescribed. Theyre not working. I feel like Icrap can I take my sub now ? Dont want to go in to withdrawl ## Hi Desi! I would wait until u start feeling some withdrawals before you take the suboxone. If you feel like crap now, then you can take it now. ## Cats68, I'm a heavy methadone user, recently cut off, and prescribed Suboxone. Haven't had methadone for 8 days but some opiates 2 days ago to help and I tried sub last night but went into that horrific detox mode. I took 7 or 8 5mg vics that got the detox to stop. This was 24 hrs ago. Can I try taking sub again? Feel horribly sick. ## Searching for a dr. Who prescribes methadone in INDIANAPOLIS any help appreciated. ## I took 2 Vicodin ( tota...

I ,due to a severe injury, was on methadone for 8 yrs and got off that crap and on suboxone at the advice of a friend. I now am at 2 mgs of suboxone daily. My pain issues are mild to none and I want off subs .I went to my doctor who claims he has Much experience with this and has proven that to me...but his method is scaring me and from what I read online I am very hesitant. He prescribed me 2mg dilaudid and valium which I hate and plans to wean me off the subs. Is this right??? I can handle a mild w/d but not a heavy one due to my work. I am not looking for people tellin me to suck it up or give advice other than if the detox method described is reasonable or crazy?? Everytime I try to go below 2mg of subs I feel like hell will a dilaudid taper make it easier or start a new addiction an...

I'm taking a sixth of the 2mg strip of suboxone.i want to know if i can take anything to help with the future tapering im gonna do. Been on a 6th sub for about 4 months now ## I also been on for 2 years ## Hello, Petra! How are you? What has your doctor advised? In many cases, they prefer to just taper it very slowly to prevent withdrawal symptoms, rather than have to prescribe more medications to treat them. Unlike Methadone, many people do manage to taper off of this one successfully and become completely drug free. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

After 31 months in a state correctional facility (for a non violent crime/ misdemeanors) I was released. I started taking Suboxone 8mg and have been since May 2011. I wanted to stop taking them but I knew the detox was not going to be easy and they don't really have a detox for suboxone except for Methadone and I do not ever want to go down that road again. I relapsed 14 day's ago and started shooting dope and have not taken a sub since. I'm going to now attempt to detox myself off the dope with suboxin. Today I ate 1 lorcet and one and a half vicodin and still feel sick. It has only been maybe an hour since I ate the vicodin and will wait awhile to take another. Tonight before bed around 10pm I will take another half of vicodin and tomarrow around 10am I will take a piece o...

I'm trying to detox off opiates. I have taken 10 percocet 7.5's in the last 14 hrs to help with withdrawals. I intend on taking some subutex strips & my last dose of percocet was 2 hrs ago. Should I take one of the strips soon or wait? ## Hello, Julz! How are you? No, you need to be in full withdrawal from the Percocet, before taking Suboxone, otherwise it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. When did your doctor tell you to start it? ## Hi I know this doesn't really apply to your post much but I had a quick question. I took Vicodin this morning ab...

Yes !!! I was on 120 mg. - 180mg of methadone daily for 18 years and didn't thinkI I would ever be off methadone, but 24mg of soboxone did me good with little side effect or withdrawal. I did it in rehab and the fact is you have to be determined and dedicated. Suboxone/Subutex iwas developed in, I believe, France years ago and has been usrd succissfully in Europe for years being accepted by the FDA in 2003. Go for it. Wishing you the best. ## Hi to everyone who are wanting off methadone!!! I do not believe I could of progressed successfully without these FORUMS and SUBOXONE! My boyfriend has been taking suboxone for over a year now. somewhere between 2mg to 8mg. i think its around 6. he decided to detox himself. so he loaded up on klonopin, nuerontin and colonadine. sorry about the spelling. he went 9 days without the suboxone the first few were pretty easy then the 5th day he was supposedly getting sick. so he tried scoring some more at the 9 day mark. i basically called all his drug dealers and convinced them to stop selling to him. he got furious and went chasing looking. not sure if he scored or not. After 9 days off shouldnt he have been clean and not feeling "deathly" ill. ## Hi Sophia, Suboxone has a very long half life. On day 4 of sub detox, starting 5th day this evening. Anyone else out there doing this? Would love someone to chat with. ## Hello, DeeDee! How are you? I've never taken Suboxone, so I have no experience with coming off of it, but I can tell you that according to the FDA, some of the withdrawal symptoms may include nausea, headache, rebound pain, diarrhea and chills. How are you feeling? Is it going well? Others should be warned that this medication is a narcotic opiate, so it can be habit forming and withdrawing should only be done under the supervision of your doctor.

Woke up this am feeling great, been off suboxone for almost 2 days. Slept great too! Been reading my bible and praying. Going to look to get some B12 . ## Awesome, DeeDee! I'm very glad that you're doing so well. It's only been 2 days, so you may still experience some withdrawal symptoms, so please be on the watch for them. According to the NIH, they may include nausea, drowsiness, fever/chills and diarrhea. What dosage were you taking and how long were you on it?

I was using pain pills for a few years! I have been on suboxone 4 mg for 2 yrs. I have terrible anxiety & depression & am on Cellexa & klonopin for that. That helps! I tried detoxing myself off the Suboxone 2wks ago & went thru hell, after a wk I was better. But still no sleep, achey, nauseous, headache & overall felt like bad flu. Well I relapsed & now am back on it! I want to wean myself off-But am getting my Dr to get me in an outpatient rehab-I have a 2 & 10 yr old & live with my parents. They know it all & My Mom helped me go thru the withdrawls before & had to hold me from shaking. I want off of it fast!! What can I do beside a month of weaning down that will flush it out quicker so withdrawls are easier?? Thanks ## From what I have read/hear...

How long does a person have to stay on suboxone? I heard a long time, sometimes. ## Hi bella, Some people stay on subs for years. They may taper down to just a few mgs but stay on for a long time. Some people will stay on a high dose for a long time. Some folks will just use it for a quick detox for maybe a week. Then some folks will use it for a half a year or so. Once some people get straight for awhile and are getting counceling and going to meetings or what ever they will have there Dr. taper dose down and eventually they jump off and can live a straight life. I don,t think theres any set time limit when it comes to subs.

I would some like some input on the effects of taking suboxone or subutex long term. ## Suboxone and Subutex are opiates, so the effects of long-term use are similar to those of any other narcotic. Some of the most common side effects include: drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth and constipation. ## I've been on suboxone for almost a year now. The side effects of long term use is the same as if you were on pain meds. ## i want to know what effects does suboxone have on a pregant woman? Does the baby become depeant? Is it like the methadone withdrawl for the baby? ## The baby does become dependant. After birth, a baby will detox from it. Your best bet is to wean yourself off before giving birth.

Tired of going into withdrawals. Been taking them every day for 5 months. Please help, advise where I can get help. ## Hi this is Tina. I forgot to add I am in Tampa, Florida. If anyone knows where i can get help without taking suboxone please write back to me. Thank you. ## Tina, I should caution you that with a minimal opiate intake like 1 15 mg tablet a day for only 5 months should cause very little if any discomfort. Methadone is designed for users with years and decades of very high opiate or opioid addiction. I'm not discounting your usage but I doubt any real methadone clinics will...

I was on suboxone 2 mg 2x a day for 4 years. I stopped cold turkey due to a request from and death of my father. 16 days until I could sleep more than 2 hours.. Days 1-5 weren't as bad as 6-14. After that it was restless legs.. Fatigue, depression, anxiety, depression again... Not until I began. Sleeping 6+ hours did most of it go away.. Still have depression and restless legs not almost 2 months later and everyday around my normal second dose time I notice I get very tired. F*** suboxone. Do not use it for more than a detox. Save yourself. If I could go back and withdraw off dope or methadone, I'd have stuck with them and not been a p**** and use sub's as a crutch. The "substance abuse" doctors give 0 s***s about you. Its all a business. $$$$ ## Unfortunately, after...

I was on 110 then tapered down to 24. At that point, I couldn't take the withdrawals. I ended up going on suboxone. Thank God I felt better. As far as your situation, it takes awhile to stop withdrawing from methadone. It has a half life and lasts longer. U r probably still feeling some withdrawals. Sounds like it 2 me. And, u have your medical problem, too. Everybody is different, so, some people take longer than others 2 heal. I hope u feel better. Believe me...

trying to detox from subone have been on 8mgs a day for 15 months need help please thank you. ## Hi confused, I hope I don,t confuse you more but heres what I did when I got down to 8mgs. By the way, it was my sub. drs. taper plan. For 2 weeks I alternated, day 1 8mgs. day2, 4mgs. day3, 8mgs.day4, back to 4mgs. This averages out to 6mgs. I kept this routine up for 2weeks then tapered to 4mgs. From the 4mgs I tapered 1mg. per week. After the last week on 1mg. I stopped completely. I was taking the strips and when I got down to 4mgs. sub dr. prescribed the 2mg strips just because it was easier to cut. Tapering this way was a walk in the park. No wds. bettween tapers. Last week on 1mg I woke up couple times thruout night but went right back to sleep. No problems after that. Been off subs s...

Hello everyone who is one methadone and wants to get off. I was on methadone for 6 years....I wanted to get off so I went to a rehab and did a 30 day suboxone detox getting down to 1 mg for the last 3 days. After 2 days off suboxone I started to get sick once again and decided to get back on methadone. That lasted for about a year before I had finally had enough. I did research and did a 16 day detox from 108 mg to 0 with minor side effects compared to the hell I know methadone withdrawal can be. This is what I did and it worked for me. I can't believe drs aren't talking of the benefits of DXM. Every day before dosing I took 100 mg of Dxm, and drank a few cups of grapefruit juice, the juice increases the effects of the methadone because it inhibits the enzyme that metabolites it...
