How Long Does It Take To Detox From Suboxone

100+ Topics Found

Suboxone/Subutex should be used one way and one way only. Start with the professionally recommended dose; (usually according to one's opiate intake) and ween off of it in 5-14 days. Any longer than that and it becomes a crutch, simply trading one demon for another. I know people that have been on it for 3yrs, and when it came time to stop...HELL. I took it for a year. Mistake. I suffered worse withdrawals from that then any other before. I relapsed. Relapsed with a plan of pure Will. I used vicodin for two weeks, weened myself off and suffered much, much less. Suboxone is powerful s***, not to mention expensive. I am a member of Pills Anonymous; therefore, I am speaking not only from my own experience, but dozens of others. Trust me; save yourself. Aloha ## Thank you for your post. ...

Hello I have been on opiates for about 2 years now and I was given a half of a quarter of a subutex and this is my first time taking it. I was wanting to know when it wears off? I think it threw me into full detox because I took 20 mg of hydrocodone 7 hours before I took the sub. I am aware I have a problem I just want to know when the sub will wear off. Took it at 1:30 pm, it's now 9:30pm. ## It usually takes about 72 hours, before other opiates will be effective for you, again. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## That is not necessarily true. If it's the only one he has ever taken and in such a small do...

Okay, so I've gone through a lot on this site and nothing is really helping me with my question. I started taking methadone almost two years ago. I got up to 70mgs and stabilized for awhile then my counselor and I decided with all the positive changes I've made that tapering down would be a good option for me. I have been tapering very slow since last May "2016". By January I got to 30mgs of methadone and once I got to 26mgs I asked to be taken back up to 30mgs. I stayed on 30mgs for another month and then realized I was moving to Florida very soon. Problem is I have the state insurance and Florida programs will not accept the insurance I currently have. So, my methadone dr put me on a rapid detox which was 2mg a day. My last does was 16mgs on Saturday April 8, 2017. I w...

ive taken 132mgs of suboxone over the last 2 weeks how can i guit ## Hello, Nolabob! How are you doing? A slow taper would be best and safest, your doctor should be able to help you set up a proper tapering schedule that will prevent most of the withdrawal effects. Have you discussed it with them, yet? This is an opiate, so withdrawal effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, fever and chills. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. ## Hey Vermon, My Dr has me on 12mg of suboxone 1 time daily I told him I wanted to get off of them asap I was sick and tired of being sick an tired Im 62 yrs old an had an addiction problem all my life or rather since I was 8or 9 yrs old . Dont want to go in to withdrawl ## Hi Desi! I would wait until u start feeling some withdrawals before you take the suboxone. If you feel like crap now, then you can take it now. ## Cats68, I'm a heavy methadone user, recently cut off, and prescribed Suboxone. Haven't had methadone for 8 days but some opiates 2 days ago to help and I tried sub last night but went into that horrific detox mode. I took 7 or 8 5mg vics that got the detox to stop. This was 24 hrs ago. Can I try taking sub again? Feel horribly sick. ## Searching for a dr. Who prescribes methadone in INDIANAPOLIS any help appreciated. ## I took 2 Vicodin ( tota...

I'm taking a sixth of the 2mg strip of suboxone.i want to know if i can take anything to help with the future tapering im gonna do. Been on a 6th sub for about 4 months now ## I also been on for 2 years ## Hello, Petra! How are you? What has your doctor advised? In many cases, they prefer to just taper it very slowly to prevent withdrawal symptoms, rather than have to prescribe more medications to treat them. Unlike Methadone, many people do manage to taper off of this one successfully and become completely drug free. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Hi after a ten year opiate addiction I started to run out of money. I was highly functional for the 10 years home owner, business, wife, the hole nine. it was money and my own self torture that brought this to a halt. so 8 months ago I went to a treatment center in Florida not knowing if I would ever be normal again. I found myself completely incompasitated (I was in a wheel chair for two days) the dr there put me on a 5 day taper from 4 mil gram sub down to 2 in 5 days omg it worked within 3 weeks I was better and ready to go home. I felt better than I ever have so I went home and went to meetings. good things began to happen and as we do how quickly I forgot I was a sick person and stopped the meetings when the stress of everyday life came back 8 months later. I relapsed in a matter o...

After 31 months in a state correctional facility (for a non violent crime/ misdemeanors) I was released. I started taking Suboxone 8mg and have been since May 2011. I wanted to stop taking them but I knew the detox was not going to be easy and they don't really have a detox for suboxone except for Methadone and I do not ever want to go down that road again. I relapsed 14 day's ago and started shooting dope and have not taken a sub since. I'm going to now attempt to detox myself off the dope with suboxin. Today I ate 1 lorcet and one and a half vicodin and still feel sick. It has only been maybe an hour since I ate the vicodin and will wait awhile to take another. Tonight before bed around 10pm I will take another half of vicodin and tomarrow around 10am I will take a piece o...

My boyfriend has been taking suboxone for over a year now. somewhere between 2mg to 8mg. i think its around 6. he decided to detox himself. so he loaded up on klonopin, nuerontin and colonadine. sorry about the spelling. he went 9 days without the suboxone the first few were pretty easy then the 5th day he was supposedly getting sick. so he tried scoring some more at the 9 day mark. i basically called all his drug dealers and convinced them to stop selling to him. he got furious and went chasing looking. not sure if he scored or not. After 9 days off shouldnt he have been clean and not feeling "deathly" ill. ## Hi Sophia, Suboxone has a very long half life. Can a Methadone patient detox with Suboxone and what mg dose do they need to do if they are currently on 30 mg Methadone a day? And what's the procedure? Like, do they have to taper the Methadone down first, and by doing, so do they go through any withdrawal symptoms? ## Each individual is likely going to have a very different withdrawal experience due to several factors, such as tolerance to pain, reaction/tolerance to these types of medications, one's body chemistry, mental fortitude, and so forth... However it doesn't really sound like you'd be detoxing (withdrawing) much at all if your just going from one synthetic opiate to another. (Suboxone and Methadone are both used to treat patients with opioid dependency or addiction). The only thing I would strongly recommend...

Hi, Im needing some help and support. I'm 21 and I've been addicted to Norcos for 2 years, taking them every day. I was taking 10 a day, then was able to lower myself to 5 a day about a month before I detoxed. I flushed all my pills a little over a week ago an was given suboxone by a friend, to help me withdraw. I have no health insurance and each sub doctor I called was either way too expensive or they had no openings for new patients. So I took a quarter of suboxone, the orange pill, after 15 hours of withdrawal. Sub helped that day and the next day, but after that it had no effect on me and I'm wondering why? My friend who's been on it for months under a doctor's care, said its supposed to give u a little buzz and help with your cravings. But it hasn't worked ...

I'm trying to detox off opiates. I have taken 10 percocet 7.5's in the last 14 hrs to help with withdrawals. I intend on taking some subutex strips & my last dose of percocet was 2 hrs ago. Should I take one of the strips soon or wait? ## Hello, Julz! How are you? No, you need to be in full withdrawal from the Percocet, before taking Suboxone, otherwise it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I ,due to a severe injury, was on methadone for 8 yrs and got off that crap and on suboxone at the advice of a friend. I now am at 2 mgs of suboxone daily. My pain issues are mild to none and I want off subs .I went to my doctor who claims he has Much experience with this and has proven that to me...but his method is scaring me and from what I read online I am very hesitant. He prescribed me 2mg dilaudid and valium which I hate and plans to wean me off the subs. Is this right??? I can handle a mild w/d but not a heavy one due to my work. I have been taking opiates everyday. Yesterday I decided to start suboxone to detox at home. I took 12mg of suboxone too soon and went into severe withdrawal. I had to take more opiates to make symptoms subside. I've taken nothing for 22 hours now. IS IT SAFE TO TAKE SUBOXONE NOW? ## Hello, Shannon! How are you? No, you need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone, or it will keep throwing you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have been taking hydrocodone for 2 years and need to know how much soboxin strip i take and the detox process ## Hello, Bree! How are you doing? The dosage of Suboxone has to be carefully calculated and is dependent on the severity of your addiction and the amount of the drug of choice that you were taking, so you haven't provided enough information in your post. It also can't be taken, until you are in full withdrawals, or the Naloxone in it can throw you into dangerous withdrawals. Learn more Suboxone details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Woke up this am feeling great, been off suboxone for almost 2 days. Slept great too! Been reading my bible and praying. Going to look to get some B12 . ## Awesome, DeeDee! I'm very glad that you're doing so well. It's only been 2 days, so you may still experience some withdrawal symptoms, so please be on the watch for them. According to the NIH, they may include nausea, drowsiness, fever/chills and diarrhea. What dosage were you taking and how long were you on it?

How long does a person have to stay on suboxone? I heard a long time, sometimes. ## Hi bella, Some people stay on subs for years. They may taper down to just a few mgs but stay on for a long time. Some people will stay on a high dose for a long time. Some folks will just use it for a quick detox for maybe a week. Then some folks will use it for a half a year or so. Once some people get straight for awhile and are getting counceling and going to meetings or what ever they will have there Dr. taper dose down and eventually they jump off and can live a straight life. I don,t think theres any set time limit when it comes to subs.
