i was taking 300 mg neurontin . 1 in am 1 at noon and 2 at bedtime. I was prescribed the med in May of 2013. Increased later when not helping with foot numbness. It has been almost 2 weeks since i tapered myself off of the drug and i still feel nausea in the am which effects my eating. Please advise how long it will take this med to be out of my system. Thank You ## Hi Cindy, Sorry to hear about the nausea you've been experiencing lately. From what I've been researching, in most cases it usually ends up being around 2 to 5 days for this type of medication to clear your system. However because you've been taking it for about a year, I'd imagine your body could still probably use some time to get accustomed to not having it on a regular basis. One study I found mentioned t... ...

I have bipolar. I've been taking gabapentin for 2 years now. I just changed pharmacys & getting a different manufacture of the gabapentin. I have been crying about an hour after I take it & get nausous. I have never had this problem before. Do u think it could be the way its manufactured? ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? There can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to the next, or when going from the name brand to a generic, so that might be what's causing your problems. It sounds like the new ones might be a little stronger than the one you were taking, before. Both the nausea and the mood swings can be normal side effects of this medication and would be expected with a dosage adjustment. You may also experience dry mouth, dizzin... ...

What Happens If I Take 200 Mg Of Gabapentin i need to know i already took it before i knew what milligrams it was i am worried what will happen what mental effects will it have on me???? ## Hi Alicia, Were you prescribed this medication or was it someone else's? I personally don't think you should have anything to worry about as far as side effects go if you only took this one dose. Gabapentin has a half life of 5 to 7 hours. So, for example, if you took 200 mg of gabapentin Monday at 4 PM, 100 mg would still be in your system at approx. 9 to 11 PM. Generally, it can take anywhere from 5-7 half-lifes before the drug is completely out of your system (but you should stop feeling its effects before then). Gabapentin was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, and is cur... ...

Thanks for your time AJ ## Hello, Aj! How are you feeling? Have your symptoms improved, yet? These types of side effects can occur with Gabapentin, but they'll usually taper off in severity after about 4 weeks, or so, once your body gets used to the medication. Learn more Gabapentin details here. As to how long it will take to be out, that depends on how long you were taking it. ## Hi, It's been over 6 months that I have been on Gabapentin and I can't even walk without staggering, ... ...

If you have any questions or concerns about this pill, please post back and I will be happy to help you. ## Just started this drug last week and it definitely seems to help with pain/numbness from nerve damage to forehead from auto/pedestrian accident a few years ago, but it's giving me pretty severe lightheadness and dizziness - well my system adjust to this drug? 300mg 3 times daily ## Hi Steve, Gabapentin's most common side effects in adult patients include dizziness, drowsiness, and peripheral edema (swelling of extremities); these mainly occur at higher doses in the el... ...

as soon as I got off double doses of gabapentin(300x6), I got nausea every day for weeks. I have acis reflux, so we thought it was that; could this be a reaction to total withdrawal? ## Yes, if you did a sudden withdrawal, rather than tapering the dose, or even if you tapered, but stopped at a dose that was a bit too high for what your body could handle, it's possible that it could have caused it. Learn more Gabapentin details here. Have things improved yet? With the acid reflux, it's quite easy for your gastric system to be upset and set off balance, so it could even have been a combination of both factors. ...

I'm wondering if it is safe to take 60mg morphine sulfate .er with 900 mg gabapentin, 3mg melatonin , and 50 mg vistril together. does anyone know if the morphine will react badly with the others? I take the others together every night ## The Morphine, Vistaril and Melatonin can all increase sedation and cause depression of the central nervous system, so you shouldn't combine them, unless your doctor has specifically said that its safe for you to do so. It could be dangerous, if you aren't tolerant to them or when combined with some health conditions. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

I am trying to find out if gabapentin is ok to be in the system (body) of a truck driver. Legal presciption from a doctor. ## Can a truck driver pass a DOT physical if he takes gabapentin? ## Hello, Jeanie! How are you? I'm sorry, but from what I've found the answer is no. There is an automatic disqualification for anyone taking any type of antiseizure medication. This is due to the fact that the person either has epilepsy, or if they are taking it for nerve pain or mood disorders, the medication could put them at risk of a seizure, if they miss a dose or are late taking it. Having a seizure while driving could be very dangerous. The FDA lists the typical side effects to this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight changes. My Australian Shepherd takes this for seizure disorder. He has been prescribed 1 capsule 3 times per day. Because of my work schedule, it's very difficult to dispense 3 times. I know that is optimal, but can I give him one in the morning and 2 at night? ## Unfortunately, no. That's not going to work the same way. The reason it's given spaced over the day is to try to keep a constant level of the medication in his system to prevent the seizures. Do you have a friend or neighbor that may be able to help? ...

does gabapentin & hydrocoddon cause breathing problems
2 Replies RSS
I have been taking these two drugs together for monts-now i feel my breathing is not right. ## What you might be having a problem with is the fact that both of these medications can cause Central Nervous System Depression and when used together, in some people, they can aggravate each other and make this side effect much more pronounced and breathing can be one of the things affected. It can also cause a lowered heart rate and lowered blood pressure. Have you spoken to your doctor about this, yet? In most instances where this occurs, the person needs a dosage adjustment or has to stop taking one of the medications. ## are there any foods that can help or hurt while detoxing from vicodine? ...

My son is on Gabspentin, and also on Paxil, he is getting the blurry vision, do you know of drugs interactions that are negative? ## Both of these medications can cause dizziness as side effects, so that could account for it. Otherwise, I would ask how much Gabapentin he is taking? The blurred vision is usually only experienced by those who are taking to much. Has anyone spoken to his doctor about this? The only reported interaction between the two is that they both can cause depression of the central nervous system, so anyone using them together should be closely monitored by a doctor on a regular basis. I have been taking Neurontin and Lyraca together for six months, with no pain reduction. My Dr. recently suggested eliminating Neurontin and taking Lyraca only. I was told that Neurontin and Lyraca taken together "cancel each other out". Any help on this subject? ## Hi Gus, I actually came up on information stating that there are interactions found between Neurontin (gabapentin) and Lyrica (pregabalin). The interaction warning between these two medications states: "Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients." "During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially exces... ...

will someone anwer this question for me doctor will not lower meds and i am not awake enought to take them as ordered. doctor will drop me if is order our not followed ## If you are sleeping that much, then yes, there is a possibility that you are taking too many medications, but only you can really decide that. What type of doctor are you seeing? It really makes no sense for him to refuse to lower medications, if necessary. What is his reasoning for it? Most doctors are far too conservative the other way and are afraid of prescribing too much. ## For anyone else in this boat, the doctor is referring to the fact that when he gives you a u.a., you had better have the opiates he prescribed in your system or else he will think you are diverting your medications. 300 mg of Gabepentin & citalopram of 40 mg
1 Reply RSS
I went into La-La land when i took both of those together with my 2 10 mg hydrocodone today. Which one hsc to go and I think it is the citalogram--not the gabenten?! Gabapentin is acapsule with the mg and namr onit; citalopram hydrobromide 40 mg is white pill with slit in the middle with I on one side of the line and G on the other but the 10 mg yellow hydrocodone is an elongated yellow pill with a slit on one side with Watson 853 on the other side. ## Actually, from checking the interactions, each of these can cause central nervous system depression and they can all pretty much react with each other to make it must more pronounced. Thus, there really isn't any one of them to blame. Some people separate them, to avoid these synergistic effects by taking them an hour or more apart. O... ...

Is it the Wellbutrin?

I have been on Wellbutrin for a month and a half. My doctor started me with the regular release bupropion 75mg twice a day and then three weeks ago changed it to Wellbutrin XL (generic) and it has been great for those three weeks. Little anxiety and very productive and motivated again. However the past two days I have started to feel in a slump again. I find it hard to keep myself doing these things I've started doing while on my motivational spree. Is the wellbutrin calming down in my system or something and showing how it is actually going to be working from now on or could it be something else? neurontin side effects

if i take 1 pill how long will it take to get out of my system if i have restless or mania effects ## Gabapentin's (Neurontin) elimination half-life is 5 to 7 hours. From what I've heard, most medical experts agree that it can take roughly 5 half lives for a drug to be completely out of your system. For Gabapentin, this can mean that it may remain in your system for up to or around 35 hours after your last dose, which is relatively short compared to many other drugs. Gabapentin's most common side effects in adult patients include dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, weight gain, and peripheral edema (swelling of extremities); these mainly occur at higher doses, in the elderly. Other side effects such as insomnia, restlessness, agitation, anxiety, disorientation, confusion, light s... ...
