How Long Does It Take For Prepopik To Work

9 Topics Found

My husband began the entire process with Prepopik at 6:00 pm and another dose at 2:00 am before his procedure at 9:30 am. It's now 6:44 am about 12 hours since the first dose and NO ACTION YET! OMG! Now what? Cancel procedure that takes forever to schedule? We will not waste money on a procedure if my husband is not cleaned out! Prepopik is not working! ## Hi Judy, Sorry to hear about your husband's experience with Prepopik... It seems to work well for some individuals and not very promising for others. If you have a spare moment I'd encourage you to browse through the following "Prepopik Discussion Thread" here for advice and opinions from those who've already taken it. I realize your post was from about a month ago, but hopefully some comments in there will hel...

I had my first colonoscopy yesterday. Used Prepopik, got as free sample from GI doc. I was freaking out from all reviews on this product. I took this advice and it seemed to work for me: following a low residue diet 3 days prior to procedure&1 day prior only clear liquids. I started really hydrating with pedialyte, propel,& other clear liquids 3 days prior to test. I got a prescription for Zofran to help with nausea. Took 1 of those about an hour before each dosage of prep was due. Make sure you chill water so you've got really cold water to mix the powder in. Drink the prep through a big straw. The first sip wasn't horrible but then I caught sense of that sour-ish fruit aftertaste,& that almost made me choke. I had results about 30 minutes after starting. I noticed ...

Just wanted to know if anyone knows if there is a generic for prepopik. I got to buy this product with as little expense as I can. ## No, I'm sorry, there is not. The best suggestion I can make is to speak to your doctor about using a cheaper alternative. Is there anything else I can help with? ## It was just approved in the U S last year. You can find it cheap in Canada since it has been available there for years. Different name. ## Canadian version is Pico-Salax. Worked perfectly

Took this stuff at 6:30 pm and its now 11:06 pm and not much is happening. All the anticipation for this procedure and now it doesn't seem to be working. I'm supposed to take the next dose at 7 a.m., hope something gets it going. Have to report for the colonoscopy at 11:15 a.m.. So far, Im not impressed. Just want to get this over with! ## Hi Jon, hope that everything went well after your wrote this. Did you end up going after your second dose (or even before)? You're supposed to drink a lot of water with this, did you follow the general recommendation (per medline plus) of drinking five 8- ounce (240 mL) drinks of clear liquid within 5 hours of the dose? Please let me know how it went (no pun intended), and hope that you're feeling fine. ## This is very discouraging! I ...

I took my first dose of Prepokik 9.5 hours ago (10PM) and it has produced one minor bowel movement, nothing resembling the results I have had with other preps. Second dose is due in about three hours. I have had nothing but clear liquids since yesterday afternoon. My appointment is for 2:30 today, but if there is not more cleansing before then, I can't imagine I can proceed with it. The preparation was certainly easier to take than other preparations I have had, but the slow, weak action probably outweighs the benefits. Even if it ends up working (and it had better, soon!), being up all night worrying is worse than taking an old-fashioned, bad tasting prep and just getting it over with. If I have to cancel, I will have to fast and try this over again. I will ask for another prep nex...

Had my first colonoscopy and used Prepopik. It was wonderful! I really didn't want to do this and was not going to drink the gallon of horrible stuff that my husband had to drink. The Doctor recommended using Prepopik and it made it really easy. It took about an hour after the first dose to start working and it wasn't bad at all. I would highly recommend this product. ## Hi Betty, Glad to hear about your positive experience with Prepopik! It sounds like a real winner compared to a lot of the reviews I've seen on other bowel prep kits. Do you happen to recall what the name of the product was that your husband had to take? It seems many people here on the site are raving about other similar options such as Suprep, but when it comes to these products I wouldn't know what to...

i understand that its availble in Canada. But goes by a differant name. Do you know what it is called? I was happy to hear that there is a new cranberry flavor. 2nd ? If a pt has insurance does a pharmacy dicount cards work on this prep?? ## Hi Sue, Based on my research, Prepopik is reportedly available in Canada under the brand name "Pico-Salax". And to answer your other question about using pharmacy discount cards along with insurance - When I look at many of these pharmacy discount cards they often make a statement noting that "this card is not intended to act as a replacement for insurance" - so my understanding is that the discount therefore isn't associated with an insurance policy. That being said, I don't see any reason why insurance and savings cards can...

Prepopik is by far the best and most tolerable bowel prep for colonoscopy! I have tried 3 others in the past, including the pill form, and this new prep was the best for the following reasons: 1. Split dosing, 5 ozs, 5 hours apart. Least amount to have to get down (10 ozs total) 2. No salty, gritty taste. Not thick, actually tastes just like orange soda, very palatable! The prep is what hindered me in going back for my follow up c'scpe until now. ## I forgot to say ask for a coupon for Prepopik from your doctor. ## For bowel prep this worked wonderfully. Took the split dose method at 8pm and 3am for an early morning procedure. 1st dose chased with 24oz of water and 16 more oz within the hour and I was having bowel movements by 45 minutes. I did have to use Vaseline on my second dose...

I used Go Lightly 7 years ago and it worked but it tasted horrible and I had a stomach ache from it. My friend used Prepopik and she related how easy it was. I just returned from my colonoscopy and I was cleaned out fine. I was allowed a very small, protein breakfast of one egg, white toast and plain yogurt. I finished this at 6:15 AM. I drank 32 oz. of fluid thru 11:30 AM and then took the first pack of Prepopik. (followed by 5 -8 oz glasses of additional liquid. It took until 2 pm for it to begin working. At 4:30 I took the second dose(and 3 more 8 oz glasses of liquid) and was done by 8 PM. I was up two times(at night) to use the bathroom after that. My appointment was at 6:30 AM today and all was fine. This prep was much more tolerable and I will utilize it again. I have gluten issues
