Hi there I have been on citalopram for 6 years. I recently withdrew from that and started taking 75mg with 10mg of citalopram last week and was feeling ok. Now i have stopped the citalopram and am on 150g of effexor. For the last few days I have been feeling a lot worse than i originally was I am not motivated and feeling very depressed. Is this normal? will it start workinng. I really don't want to try another one I have already tried 4 different ssris. Fingers crossed this goes away ## You are most likely experiencing a bit of a double whammy, side effects from starting the Effexor, as well as withdrawal effects from stoping the Citalopram. It will likely take 4 to 5 weeks for things to settle down and for you to be able to tell how well this will work for you. The FDA lists its t...

Hi, My doctor has prescribed 10 mg lexamil for me and I havnt started taking it yet. I've been suffering with anxiety for a while and taking .5 mg alzam and 7.5 mg zopiclone to manage the condition. However the last 3 months ive been having tight chest pains, been for ecgs xrays etc, all clear..doc prescribed muscle relaxant which works a little bit but I find if i take half a zopiclone it really eases off the tightness immediately. I know this has something to do with gaba receptors but what I would really like to know is if anyone else has had these symptoms and if going on 10mg lexamil in conjunction wit the alzam n zopiclone will help with the anxiety? ## Hello, Ash! How are you? Yes, Lexamil might help more, but it can take about 4 to 5 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy...

I am recovering from the Whipple Procedure for pancreatic cancer performed last April. I have severe and at times chronic pain / nerve damage in the incision area. My Dr started giving me inj's. in my Celius Plexus Right Quadrant, every 3 weeks accompanied by Oxaydo 7.5 mg & Butrans 20 mcg patch. My pain is off the charts & just not quite sure if these meds work. I will be getting my 3rd shot next week - I hope it will be better than the last one. The first inj. I noticed a major difference, but the second one was not as effective. ## Hi Tia, Oxaydo (Oxycodone hydrochloride USP immediate release tablets) should theoretically start working right away, probably after 20 minutes or so, albeit's somewhat different for everyone for various reasons (e.g. taking it with food, o...

Last night we switched my 16yo from Claritin to Xyzal - She woke up with more hives than normal. Should this start working right away for hives? Or does it take a while to build up in the system? ## Why was her medication switched? It should work within 15 to 20 minutes, just like the Claritin did. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Neither of these may work super effectively for hives. Were they prescribed by her doctor? What is she allergic to?

Im 31yrs old now and I been taking oxycodone 10/325 for 17 yts after injuring my L5-S1 and both legs in an auto accident. It generally takes roughly 15-20 mins to work and I'm finding that I'm having to "DOUBLE UP" and am considering asking to increase my dosage at my doc visit next week. Are there any suggestions out there? Thanks so much. ## Yes, these combination tablets are regular release ones, so they will usually take 15 to 20 minutes to start working, because your stomach has to start digesting them, before the medication can enter your blood stream to have its intended effect. You may want to ask your doctor about OxyIR, it's a 5mg immediate release Oxycodone capsule. It could help you get better control of your pain, because usually one of them is taken for...

Is there. A dose you have to reach before it works ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? Usually, there is a minimum and maximum effective dose, but they are not the same for everyone. I'm switching from zoloft to paxil. I was feeling very bad on zoloft. I'm still on zoloft as my psychiatrist is tapering me off of it by having me cut from 100 to 50 mg for 14 days and then that's it. I've been on the paxil for three days. How long will it take for the paxil to start overcoming the bad side effects and withdrawal of zoloft? ## Hello, Keithman! How are you? I went to the doctor 7 days ago and was perscribed flagyl, it has not seemed to work yet. For seven months my stomach had been making loud gurgling noises for no apparent reason. My doctor thought it could bacteria not where it should be. I was not told how long to take the medication but he wants to meet back in 3 weeks. He gave me enough pills to last 3 months. Will this go away sooner than 3 weeks? ## Hello, Alexis! How are you? It is completely normal for your stomach to do that and everyone's does so, occasionally. Its usually due to stomach acid forming gas and may be related to what you've eaten, something you drank, or even not eating as much as usual. Flagyl is an antibiotic, so it will only help with bacterial infections. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA,...

Please respond. I have never taken it and it was just prescribed for me. I have taken other benzos but they don't help my extreme anxiety. Hoping this will. ## These medications typically work within minutes of taking them and don't need to be taken regularly to have their intended effect. That's why the are usually prescribed to be taken 'as needed'. Generally, they should start to have some effect in about 15 to 20 minutes of ingesting it and 45 minutes to an hour for the full effect. Learn more Valium details here. The only way to see if it works for is by trying it. It does have the potential to be habit forming, just like other benzodiazepines and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. I have itching with no rash, Dr prescribed this rx yesterday and so far not much relief ## Hello, Karen! How are you? They should have started having some effect within 15 to 20 minutes of taking one. The FDA classifies this medication as an antihistamine and it is used to treat allergic reactions. Its typical side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, somnolence and sedation. However, if the itching isn't due to an allergy, then these pills won't help. Are you on any other medications? ## I was prescribed hydroxyzine (50mg, 6x a day) for itching caused by psoriasis, an autoimmune disease. It worked very well but I also slept a lot at first. Now I don't even feel sleepy, but they still work. Taking by mouth as prescribed is the quickest way to feel relief usu...

It may work, if it does, you should notice an improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. However, the issue is that it is not going to correct the underlying problem that caused the infection and it is going to end up returning. How long does it take Multaq to get into your system and actually work? I started taking it this morning and it has been 3 1/2 hours and nothing. ## Never mind. I found out the answer. It takes 2-4 days. It didn't work for me so I have to check into other options. ## Hi Kat, Thanks for providing valuable feedback from your own personal experience. Hopefully it'll help others who may be facing similar problems... I was just wondering though if you based your evaluations off of taking Multaq on an empty stomach or with meals? Surely it gets into a patient's system the same day it's consumed, but I'm guessing there's a certain threshold of how much is built up before one notices how it really affects them day to day - Is that right? At any rate, I'm sorry to hea...

I have been taking Synthroid for about a year now. I started at 25 mcg and am now taking 175 mcg.
