How Long Does It Take Alprazolam To Work

I have been taking Lonazep + Alprazolam since 2011 for the treatment of mental stress, anxiety and also sleeplessness. Both, I am taking daily at night before sleep in the doses of 0.5mg each. Now it seems that 0.5mg of Alprazolam is not effective for the purpose of sleep disorder. Can I increase its dose without consultation with my doctor? ## No I wouldn't do that without speaking to your Doctor first ## Xanax is not really an effective sleep aid anyway due to it's rather short half-life. Hi guys! No, I’ve been taking this medication for almost 10 years and it’s only recently come to my attention that there is a ODT or orally dispensing tablet version of this medication and I’m wondering if anybody has any experience with it because with my panic disorder it’s difficult waiting the hour for my pillow to come on whereas I feel like this would happen much quicker. So I have been on Greenstone Alprazolam for over 10 years through CVS. I always take them as prescribed. Never abused them. They always worked quickly and brought me down from any attack.. Out of the blue 3 months ago CVS doesn't carry them anymore. I tried the new brand they had (Dava), and they were awful!. Did nothing for my Panic Disorder. So Greenstone told me to go to a Ma and Pa Pharmacy, so I did and they ordered them. I was elated. So I get them and took it right away. As long as it has the same active ingredient it will work the same as any of the others. I have always taken Xnax or Alphrazolam . They were always the same peach. Change insurance and went to CVS. This pill is yellow oval with 106/S. I never felt I took a pill. I'm wondering if my new script of dava alprazolam is a quality generic? ## All generics available on the U.S. market have to fall within the same acceptable quality guidelines, which is being within plus or minus 20% of the amount of the active ingredient in the name brand. The only thing you can really do is try it and see how well it works for you, because some people react differently to those fluctuations, regardless of how small they are. I have taken Alprazolam for months and not had any major problems with its effectiveness. Mylan by far worked the best. But now with Aurobindo brand I feel like I’m taking a "sugar pill". The prescribed dose is 2mg as needed up to 4 times a day. The first day I took all 8 mg, despite not filling them until 5:00 pm. I didn’t sleep that night at all and the next day took just as many, with a tiny slice of relief from my anxiety. Usually I don’t take more than 2.5mg- 3 mg a day. Just refilled my script of 1 mg Alprazolam. Changed pharmacies so I got a different generic. This is manufactured by Purepac & clearly they are not working for me. I have been getting the 2mg Greenstones the last few years and they work much better than the Actavis. Now i read that greenstones were changed back in early 2014. Is it people that take these to feel high or people who really need them for anxiety and nothing else? Regardless if they have been changed they're still much better Actavis and I have heard mixed results on Sandoz. Dava seems to be crap. Took it once (looks to be from Endo who bought out Qualitest). Any opinions on the current state of the generic xanax manufactures? And lastly, no insurance company will give me the name brand. Dava Xanax 0.5 mg SUCKS! They're yellow ovals marked with an S and 901. They've been sued by Justice department in the past (2010) for distributing drugs that were half strength. We normally take 1.5 mg qd, but are allocated #3 tabs 0.5 mg qd. Even taking #3 we had no effect. What ever company makes oval peach coloured tabs have always been efficacious. Dava, a repackager of generics needs examination by DEA & US Attorney—they can analyze the crap we were given. ## The products I've had from Dava have been acceptable with no problems here.
