After one fentanyl 50 (much less than 18hrs on skin till he ripped it off) my boyfriend is so sick. He does not want to get out of bed because every move makes him more nauseous. He has thrown up all day. Doesn't know how as he hasn't even held down a sip of water or even ginger ale. I tried to get him to eat a piece of toast and the smell of it made him throw up. He hates pain meds as they usually make him feel horrible. He had back surgery in 08, has had inj's in lower back 3 times in past year. His PC dr has given him Lyrica this week before this fentanyl. He stopped it as he just wanted to sleep. He is scheduled for an MRI on Friday. How long will he be this sick? ## I am so sorry about the side effects he experienced. I had the same problem when I tried Fentanyl years a...

I started amoxicillin 100 mg 2 days ago for a sinus infection. All of a sudden I have lower back pain. I read this was one side effect. It came up all a sudden. I stopped taking it. I can't sleep or walk much because of the pain ## Hello, Julie! How are you? I'n very sorry about how you're feeling. It is odd for it to cause such severe pain. However, it should only take a couple days for things to settle back down, since you were on it for such a short period of time. However, if you have an infection that requires treatment, you should return to your doctor, so they can prescribe a different antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help w...

If you took a tablet, then it will usually take about 15 to 20 minutes for it to start to enter your blood stream. Are you on it for pain or addiction treatment? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Hi Renee, u should feel better within a half hour. If u don't feel better at all, u may need an increase. That happened 2 me. I started at 30 and had 2 increase. 30 wasn't doing it 4 me. Good Luck!

Looking for new things happening in the medical field about this drug. ## Ativan is NOT new, it was approved by the FDA and placed on the prescription drug market in 1977. The active ingredient is Lorazepam. This is a Benzodiazepine, so in the same class as Valium or Xanax and just as addictive. How long it takes to start working depends on your body and metabolism, it can range from 2 weeks to a month. Some of the most common side effects include: sedation, dizziness and weakness. ## Just been put on gabapentin for pelvic pain caused by interstitial cystitis. First week is 100 mg three times a day. How long does it take for this Mopic to work? My doctor prescribed Mopic 15 mg once per day for arthritis So far, I only took second pill today. I had pain in my knee cap and my hands. I need to get back to work as soon as I can. I live here in Southern California so the weather is not too bad. ## Hello, May! How are you? I took pill 3 hours ago and i am in the same amount of pain if not more than when i went to hospital. Could i possibly been misdiagnosed with ibs. ## Hello, Jess! How are you? Well, this isn't actually an analgesic, so it's not going to relieve pain. What Hyoscyamine does is help alleviate the intestinal spasms associated with IBS and other gastrointestinal disorders, but it will take some time for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. You should only take it as prescribed and give a few weeks, to see if it works for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness and flushing. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking op 30s for just a couple days but I'm not sure how long they take to start working can someone plz tell me ## Hello, Alize! How are you? It should have some effect shortly after taking it, though it may take a month to reach its full efficacy level in your body, but it is an analgesic. Has it been helping your pain, at all? You may need a dosage adjustment, if it's not helping. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## This is crazy, its supposed to be immediate relief. It shouldnt have to build up to a certain level in your body.

I take a oxy neo 20 mg at 930 am and want to know how long before i start feeling the effects and how long will it last in my system ## Hi maria, The amount of time it will take for you to start feeling the effects of OxyNeo is dependent on your own unique body chemistry and whether or not you eat food directly before/ after you take the medication. It shouldn't take more than an hour for the medication to make its way into the bloodstream..but if you do eat something with the medication that could make the process longer. The dosing information I found says that if you aren't taking any other opioid medications, you can take (20 mg) every 12 hours if necessary. Therefore, I imagine that 12 hours is the amount of time the effects are supposed to last. However, like I mentioned p...

If I take an OxyContin 80 mg at 10 PM Monday night, and on Tuesday morning I take one 80 mg + one 30 mg Oxycodone at 7 AM would it be working in my body by 8:30 that morning? Thanks ## Yes, based on your dosage schedule I'd say it would definitely be working in your body by then, regardless of whether you take immediate release or a delayed release formulation. For instance, conventional oxycodone has a peak plasma concentration in your blood stream of about 1 hour after taking it, whereas the time-released version would reach its peak after about 3 hours. Half life can be up to about 4 hours, and traces of it remain in your body for up to 72 hours (but by that time you would probably have taken your next dose if you are on a regular pain management schedule). Hope this helps! ## Ho...

When you take 8mg of hydromorphone for a long time, and you no longer take the pills, how many days does it take to be metabolized by the body? Wondering if and when withdrawals can happen? ## Hello, Tonya! How are you? The half-life of Hydromorphone, which is when it reaches only 50% of its level in your body is just around 4 hours, for oral dosing. Full elimination time takes 5 to 6 half-lives, so that would be 20 to 24 hours and withdrawal would likely start around that time. Withdrawal effects may include nausea, dizziness, insomnia, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

My Doctor Always Tells Me It Is The Nature Of All Pain Medications That After Taking Em For A While Effect U Got First Seems To Start Decline This Should Be Obvious As Body Gets Used Get Less And Then Need Stronger Dosage So On When Are They Gonna Create Med Keeps Working Everytime Take Without Having Increase Same Or Amount Relief ## Due to the way the human body works, the answer to your question is never, it isn't possible for them to create one that will do that. Your body will eventually get used to any thing that you ingest regularly, from a medication to your morning coffee and the effects it had at the beginning will start to wear off. If you want the same effects back, you'll always have to adjust the amount you take in, switch to something else, or take a break from it...

My friend has been clean for like 9 days now and her doctor prescribed her suboxone after she said her body hurt? Is that the reason? Cause I would love to know... ## Suboxone is prescribed for pain in other countries but here in the states as far as I know it,s only prescribed to treat opiate addiction. The pain your friend is feeling could be from withdrawal. Maybe your friend has other pain issues and also has a pain pill problem and the patient and doctor decided to start suboxone treatment. I,m taking sub for addiction but also have pain issues. the subs help for both problems. Some folks say that subs don,t help there pain at all. How long does Neurontin remain active in your body before being excreted? ## Hello, Kevin! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as an anticonvulsant, which is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and dry mouth. It's half-life is approximately 5 to 7 hours and it takes 5 to 6 half-lives to be fully processed from your body, so it would be fully excreted in approximately 30 to 42 hours.
