How ever it last about 3-4 hours. Is this normal ## You may need to speak to your doctor about adjusting the dose, so it works longer, or perhaps switching to the time released formulation to keep your pain under control longer. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I recently had a major cervical and spine surgery. But still the pain is very severe with me taking 20mg of oxycodone every 3 hrs plus 1000 mg of Tylenol Extra every 6 hrs. What do you suggest? ## Hello, Salem! How are you? You may want to try asking your doctor about trying Oxycontin, it's a time released formulation of the Oxycodone that lasts for 12 hours, so it could give you better pain control. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I need to know what the fillers are in the oxycontin Tablets 10 mgm made in the UK and distributed by Mundipharma P/L Bridge St Sydney. I have a patient with a dairy allergy and who cannot tolerate Lactose as a tablet filler. ## Hi Robert, It is difficult to answer this question unless you can post the specific manufacturer name. Manufacturing processes differ between each company, and even generic products of the same drug can have different fillers / inactive ingredients. Because of that, the best starting point to knowing the proper answer is to first ascertain who is making the pills in question. Hope this makes sense! Let me know what you think... ## The manufacturer of OxyContin (until last year there were no generics; the patent does not officially expire until 2006, 20 years aft...

I am 57 years and taking Aten – 25 every day for last 10 years to control high blood pressure (BP). BP is under control now. Recently a doctor advised to replace it with MET XL Extended release 25 everyday. Please advise ## Hello, Mir! How are you? Did they say why they wanted you to switch? It could be just because you've been taking the other for such a long period of time. Our bodies do get used to anything we take regularly for long periods and sometimes, it is good to switch.

My primary dr has me on 10 mg percocet, 2 every 4 hrs for chronic/severe leg pain but it has lost it's effectiveness. I have appt w/pain mgt clinic on the 18th for the 1st time and am hoping they rx something stronger & definitely something that lasts longer. I haven't slept a full night in almost 2 years due to waking up in pain, taking meds, waiting for them to kick in and waiting to fall asleep again. Does anyone have an educated guess on what they may rx or what works well for this problem? Just curious and very excited at the prospect of having this pain under control. ## There are actually several time released medications that they may choose from. What reason would a doctor prescribe morphine sulfate er and oxycontin ir at the same time? ## Hello, Cyn! How are you? To try to help someone get better pain control. The Morphine ER is a time released medication and the OxyIR is an instant release medication, it's usually taken for breakthrough pain that the time released medication doesn't always control. What does the NDC code represent on label of medicine? ## It's a 10 digit, 3 segment number that's designed to allow the medication to be identified according to labeler, product and original package size. So, the first segment, which is the labeler segment and it is assigned by the FDA so they basically know who the last person was the had control of the drug, before it was shipped. So, the labeler can be a manufacturer, or just a lower representative that repackages and distributes the medication. The second segment, the product code, provides the specific details about the medication, including the strength, dosage form (tablets, capsules or etc.) and formulation, such as regular release or time released. The final number, is exactly what it sounds like, just the package info...

original perscription for Cardizem 1st generic given diltiazem er 240mg cap last refilled with diltiaz cd 249/24 is this all the same med? ## Yes, they are all the same medication, 240mgs of Diltiazem in a controlled release formulation that's meant to be taken every 24 hours, they are just manufactured by different companies. Even the abbreviations mean the same thing, though they look different. The ER stands for extended release and the CD is for controlled dosage, but both designate that it is a time released formulation of the medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

My brother takes Oxycontin 80 mg. for timed release pain management and 30 mg. roxycodone for break thru pain. He has seen the same doctor and went to the same pharmacy for over 10 years. Suddenly last month, drug store did not have the 30 mg. available for a few days and this month, I was told that 30 mg. were no longer available. I cannot get his medication anywhere ( the 30 mg.) Are they no longer on the market? ## Roxicodone (regular timed to act) and Oxycodone(contin) (longer time acting) are essentially the same medication but here apparently prescribed for different effects. Short and long term pain control. So, to summarize, they are essentially the same drug but with different prescription for use, and most likely different brands. ## The 30mg dosage is still available, but the...

I have been taking half a tab of Seloken XL 25mg each morning for the last 3 years for high bp and my bp remains 130/90. Do I need to continue taking this or should I consult my doc for a change of medicine? ## Seloken XL contains the active ingredient Metoprolol in a time release formulation, it is most commonly used to help control high blood pressure. You definitely need to keep taking the medication and consult with your doctor regarding any changes. That is still not a normal blood pressure reading and stopping this medication abruptly can cause severe health problems, such as sudden blood pressure spikes, cardiac problems and heart attacks.

I0took a Norco for 3 years and my doctor stopped Norco the first Day taking oxycontin my stomach was hurting and I felt nauseous and I had a headache do you know the reason why she put me on oxy 20 milligrams Op I've been diagnosed with a bulged disc l5 s1 4.0 millimeters ## Hello, Mikey! How are you? You were likely experiencing a slight withdrawal effect, because you went from a regular release medication to a time released one. And the reason she put you on the Oxycontin is probably to try to help you get better pain control, since lasts for 12 hours. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How are you doing now?
