They can both cause some depression of the central nervous system, so you need to know to watch for any possible danger signs, such as extreme tiredness, dizziness and somnolence. Side effects to the Baclofen may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache and dry mouth. They may also be worsened by taking it with the Percocet. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What should someone do when they experience the side effects such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and a terrible pounding headache from this medication? I am currently using a cream prescribed by my foot doctor, Ketamine10% Flurbiprofen10% Baclofen4% Verapamil7% Tetracaine2%. I had to have the lab adjust the formular with my doctors approval, to it current percentage as the original formular was useless. It works a bit better, but I feel it could use some more tweeking. Any suggestions? Also I recently injured my knee and have been using it on that as well. I've read the comments above and plan to discuss some of these options when I see the knee guy in a couple of weeks :( Thank you ## Hello, Jeff! How are you? As a topical cream, this really isn't going to alleviate intense pain. There's only so much it will do, since you don't really absorb much of the medications, at all. And no, I've no suggestions for tweaking,...

I'm going to start taking this baclofen for first time tomorrow. I don't know strength or dose must yet . I have to pick up from pharmacy tomorrow. Well I'm afraid of meds due to so many allergic reactions to several meds. Is this a med I can get relief from immediately or do I have to take it over time for relief. The part it states can cause withdrawals if you just stop it. Would that mean take it daily rest of my life. I have scoliosis osteoporosis ostepenia fractures injury to neck and shoulder. I don't rest much at all. ## You do not have to take it regularly, it can be taken as needed, but their best effectiveness will be achieved by taking them regularly. And yes, it should have some effect immediately. No, you don't have to take it for the rest of your life, ...

My sister has been using Baclofen to self medicate. She has overused the drug so much that she now hallucinates and is paranoid. She has been in and out of rehabs and psych units. What is the long term effect of this medication? I am afraid that it has put her over the edge. Please advise. ## Hello Debbie, Overuse of Baclofen can lead to numerous side effects, many of which can be dangerous. It's critical to restrict the intake of Baclofen to 80 mg per day (maximum for an adult). Hallucinations are typically not a result of overdose, but rather from abruptly discontinuing the medication. You should never immediately stop Baclofen intake. Instead, you need to gradually taper down the intake of Baclofen and then discontinue it. For instance, if the medication is stopped one day and th...

I have been takeing soma for muscle spasms for a while know. Another doctor wanted me to try Baclofen 20mg. I found that the Baclofen made me feel a little strange and dopey. The Soma does not. I do like to take the Baclofen at night instead of Soma as it makes me very sleepy and does help me sleep better and longer. I like the Soma for dureing the day because it does not make me sleepy and can function better. When my body feels tired I experience more pain and spasm, hence the Baclofen when need to sleep. Hope this helps ## It is normal for medications to work differently, for different people. Sometimes, when your doctor wants you to try something different, you have to give it a go, for a few weeks and then just let them know if it has bad effects or doesn't work as well for you....

So my husband took some Baclofen thinking it was ibuprofen. He started getting really drowsy so I checked out the bottle to make sure it was ibuprofen and the bottle read Baclofen. He took two 20 mg doses, and it was expired from 2 yrs ago. What could happen since he took 2 and they're expired? ## In many cases, expired meds are just fine (depending on how long it's been expired and how well they've been stored). However, if he hasn't made any signs of improvement since the timing of your post, I would probably encourage you to contact a local pharmacy and/or poison control (available 24/7 at 1-800-222-1222); and in worst case scenarios, the emergency room. My thoughts are that a pharmacist or poison control center will at least know what signs and symptoms to be mindful...

I have DDD, scoliosis, which is serious, have herniations and bulging discs in cervical spine and also in lumbar spine. I can't walk without cane. I went to doc today and she gave me a small dose of baclofen,5 mg bid. Will this help my pain? I am taking generic oxycodone 30 mg every 4-6 hours as needed. I used to take oxycontin 20 mg, up to 5 times a day, it worked very well, but I can't take this now, because my medicare will not pay for it. ## Baclofen is a muscle relaxant. How far apart should i space taking xanax and baclofen ## Hello, Mimi! How are you? The problem with taking them both is due to the fact that they can both cause sedation, so that's intensified by combining them. Thus, there's really not any set time frame that you need to space them out, you just need to know to watch for any danger signs, such as feeling severely sedated, shallow breathing and extreme dizziness. You should also never take them both, unless your doctor has specifically told you that it's safe for you to do so. Learn more Xanax details here. Learn more Baclofen details here. I would like to know if anyone has had problems taking Baclofen and celexa together, I I am on 60 milligrams of Baclofen a day due to a back surgery. I just started Celexor 1 week ago 20 milligrams, and I am not sleeping well. ## Hello, Rhonda! How are you? Actually, it is most likely just due to starting the Celexa. SSRI antidepressants are well known to cause sleep disturbances for about the first 4 to 5 weeks of taking them, while your body is getting used to the medication. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am a case manager and I have a young quadraplegic with a g-tube that needs Baclofen suspension. does anyone know where I might be able to get this for him? ## Actually, your pharmacy or the small pharmacies that do compounds should be able to mix it up. Do you have any hospitals in your area that has outpatient pharmacies? This is your best bet. If your pharmacist is leary to do it have him go to www.sickkids.ca/pharmacy as this website gives him step by step instructions on how to mix the compounds. ## That is correct, if a regular pharmacy doesn't carry it in a suspension form, any compounding pharmacy should be able to fill the prescription for you. I was recently switched from soma to baclofen. The Baclofen makes me feel very strange and I cannot function as well on it as I can with Soma. It makes me sleepy, and frankly just makes me feel like crap. The Soma works better for me as far as muscle spasms. The Baclofen does help spinal pain but does not work as quickly as Soma on spasms. My doctors in Alabama refuse to prescribe me Soma even though I have been put on different muscke rekaxers, Soma works best with my body. Why will doctors nor prescribe what works best for the individual. Every thing works different on different people. I want to be able to function and not be a zombie. What should I do. My pain clinic doctor only wants to get meds from him, but if he wont prescribe what works, I will get my pain meds from him and som...

I have been taking Flexeril for about 10 years and my doctor gave me Baclofen. Which is better? ## There isn't really any muscle relaxant that is better than another, it depends on which one works best for you, Have you tried taking the Baclofen, yet? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. ## What exactly does Baclofen do? Does Baclofen help to decrease the number of muscle spasms you experience? And does it also decrease the intensity of muscle spasms?

Is Flexeril safe to take after age 60? I have muscle pain. I get all tied in knots and can't even stand up straight. My doctor gave me Baclofen and it did nothing to help me, but Flexeril has always worked. ## The older you are, the more sensitive you might be to the side effects of any given medication. When it comes to muscle relaxants, the NIH warns that they may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. However, only you and your doctor can decide which is best for you. Have you told them that the Baclofen isn't working for you? Are you on any other medications?

Baclofen can have some calming effects, but it is really a muscle relaxant, so it isn't likely to completely treat anxiety. ## hi thanks for reply, psychiatrist is a leading doctor in the treatment of addiction/anxiety,and is taking me up to a 100mg a day,he professed to having had large successes in anxiety reduction in the use of this drug.have seen many stories of people going to much higher doses, where they reach a 'switch off' point for all addictions. it was a book, The End of My Addiction | Olivier Ameisen, MD, that s...

I have only been taking Baclofen for about a week at a really low dose (10-15 mg. a day). I've been experiencing really disturbing "nods" while driving. I mean like, checking out, suddenly, unable to not drift off. Has anyone else experienced this? ## Hello, Beth! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. That is listed as a known side effect of this medication in some people that take it, that's usually why you're advised not to drive, until you see how it affects you, so you won't be nodding off or getting dizzy while driving. Other side effects as listed by the FDA may possibly include nausea, headache and dry mouth. It may be best to speak to your doctor about trying a different muscle relaxant. I have been taking 80mg of baclofen a day for the past month now. I started it October 2nd 2013-November 4th 2013. I have now been going through withdrawals from the medication for 5 days now and was curious if it will be over with very soon? I ask this because i haven't been on it long but am not sure how long this withdrawal feeling will last. I am feeling the mental withdrawal and the muscle issues at this point now. Can someone please help me out with when I will or should be getting back to normal mentally and physically? ## Hello, Steph! How are you feeling? It's difficult to say, since everyone is different.
