I've been on various pain meds since I was 21 due to a VERY serious car accident where I broke my back and did a lot of other damage to my body. I've moved up through SEVERAL meds over the years, and have NEVER been fully pain free, but at times able to live life fairly normally, others not so much! I've been on methadone for a few years now and was actually doing pretty great! Didn't completely take away my pain, but made life liveable and side effects were something I could handle. Just wondered if anybody has any experience of coming off 30ml of methadone and how long it took them really.Ive cut down over a year from 60ml to 30ml but am getting impatient and hoped I could get some idea of how much longer Ide be taking it for.Any input much appreciated, Thanks Nasa. ## the slower you taper the better off you'll be. Methadone is the worst drug. There are alternative ways to detox from opiates. I experienced cold turkey withdrawals after being on methadone for 12 years (90 mg. daily). Living hell. Severe withdrawals lasted two weeks, but less severe withdrawals lasted two months. Further withdrawals lasted for months. I couldn't think, walk, write... I was so miserable. Please help. My doctor had me on percoset 10/325 4 times a day. That was for over a year. Well I found out I was pregnant and the doctors promised me it was ok for me to take them. Well I started not taking as many cause I wanted to stop for my baby. I started getting sick and at first had no clue why. I've been going to a methadone clinic for 3 weeks now. They had me on a 95mg dose. I was taking opiates before. Hello everyone who is one methadone and wants to get off. I was on methadone for 6 years....I wanted to get off so I went to a rehab and did a 30 day suboxone detox getting down to 1 mg for the last 3 days. After 2 days off suboxone I started to get sick once again and decided to get back on methadone. That lasted for about a year before I had finally had enough. I did research and did a 16 day detox from 108 mg to 0 with minor side effects compared to the hell I know methadone withdrawal can be. This is what I did and it worked for me. If not, can I take pain killers to help with the methadone withdraws until I start taking the suboxone? ## No, in order to start Suboxone, whether for drug addiction, or for pain, you have to be in full active withdrawal from all other narcotics. Please be careful, especially if you're going cold turkey, there can be a slight risk of seizures from the withdrawal, especially if you were on a very high dosage. I would like to know the best over the counter med to help with my methadone withdrawals and pain. I have little money no insurance and hurt like never before. I'm determined to be 100% clean. ## I hate to tell you this but nothing will stop your withdrawals from methadone. The only thing that may help you is ibuprofen for the fevers. I went to a physicians assistant who prescribed me gabapentin (which i am alergic to)and clonidine which only lowers your blood pressure. I am on 18 days without methadone 80mgs a day or more depending on the day and the withdrawals the first week and a half are pure hell!.... I was on 120 mg of methadone for 8 years straight with no relapse, so I decided to quit it. I got down to 110mg and had the weekend take home so i have been taking half of a half of 5mg and now I'm out. That was 1 week ago and yesterday when i ran out of the 5 mg I started to feel sick. Wanted to say I just came out of precipitated withdrawal! What holy hell! I have been on methadone for 6 years taking 115 mlg daily & got myself down to 50 mlg for 2 weeks, waited more than 72 hours, then took 2mlg suboxone. I was fine. Not better, just not worse.
