I was prescribed methadone by a physician for a number of years prior to this. I consider myself a creditable source of information on this medication. Usually if I miss my dose i truly wouldn't be able to notice the first day if my pain level didn't spike. If I was to have a partial dose as you dud the second day, I wouldn't be sick but not be 100% good. I as you are by morning will be very ready to receive my full dose. ...

Hello everyone who is one methadone and wants to get off. I was on methadone for 6 years....I wanted to get off so I went to a rehab and did a 30 day suboxone detox getting down to 1 mg for the last 3 days. After 2 days off suboxone I started to get sick once again and decided to get back on methadone. That lasted for about a year before I had finally had enough. I did research and did a 16 day detox from 108 mg to 0 with minor side effects compared to the hell I know methadone withdrawal can be. This is what I did and it worked for me. I can't believe drs aren't talking of the benefits of DXM. Every day before dosing I took 100 mg of Dxm, and drank a few cups of grapefruit juice, the juice increases the effects of the methadone because it inhibits the enzyme that metabolites it...

So if you are in severe pain and in the middle of nowhere and the only thing anyone has is methadone if you only took it once till you could get back and get help would you go through withdrawals? ## Hello, Ricky! How are you? According to the FDA information on Methadone, it has happened to some people, but it is a very rare occurrence. One would usually have to take it for a longer period of time to experience withdrawals. With one dose, you'll usually just feel sick and fatigued, afterwards. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## DO NOT TAKE METHODONE IF YOU HAVE USED SUBOXONE IN THE LAST 3 DAYS. I promise you...

Methadone is the worst drug. There are alternative ways to detox from opiates. I experienced cold turkey withdrawals after being on methadone for 12 years (90 mg. daily). Living hell. Severe withdrawals lasted two weeks, but less severe withdrawals lasted two months. Further withdrawals lasted for months. I couldn't think, walk, write... I was so miserable. If you are on Vicodin, Norco, etc., don't switch to Methadone. You have no idea what you're playing with. Trust someone who's been there (clean date: 2/1/2005) ## Hello, Caowens! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you've been through, but also congratulate you on sticking it out and becoming clean. Your post is very much appreciated, because many people do seem to see Methadone as a miracle drug, but they ...

Please help. My doctor had me on percoset 10/325 4 times a day. That was for over a year. Well I found out I was pregnant and the doctors promised me it was ok for me to take them. Well I started not taking as many cause I wanted to stop for my baby. I started getting sick and at first had no clue why. The doctor told me I was going thru withdrawel and I couldn't stop taking the meds while I was pregnant cause it could hurt me and the baby. Long story short they recommended me start methadone while I was pregnant. Well my baby was five weeks early they said more than likely it had nothing to do with the methadone. He was fine at first. He weighed 5 pds 6 oz. After a few days the nurses said he started showing signs of withdrawal. They started him on methadone. He was in that hospita...

Hi, I live in Salem, Oregon. Ive been on methadone for about 9 years now. recently my medication got seriously wet. Ill be 4 days short now on my meds because my new doctor is new and won't do an early refill. Ive withdrawn once in the past. Im really scared. Is there a way to lesson the withdrawals. Id like to not have to go through it at all ## Hello, Ellen! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. In the future, please store your medications in a location where they can't get wet. Most doctors, even if you aren't new to seeing them, will not provide an early refill. Their prescribing practices are very closely monitored by the government. Did you ask them about possibly cutting the tablets to lower your dosage for a few days? That might he...

I've been going to a methadone clinic for 3 weeks now. They had me on a 95mg dose. I was taking opiates before. I didnt want to go to the clinic today b.c i want off this junk.. will my withdrawals be bad? Some people have told me it wont be bad since ive only been going for a short period. Is that true!? ## Hello, Steph! How are you? 95mgs is still a fairly high dose and regardless of how long someone has been taking it, Methadone is notorious for causing bad withdrawals, thus I advise being very cautious. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. It may be best to speak to your treatment provider, they should be able to help you taper off....

Help and advice what has helped others. Support, so I'm not all alone. Hope that things will be better. And strength ## Hello, Faith! How are you doing? Is your doctor aware that you're stopping this medication? Please be careful, especially if you're going cold turkey, there can be a slight risk of seizures from the withdrawal, especially if you were on a very high dosage. You may also experience nausea, RLS, joint pain, diarrhea and insomnia. ## Ty, too sick to trxt right now, sorry ## Are you ok? Figure it out or still sick?? :(

I've been taking a high dose of Methadone for the last 5 years around 100 mg. My last dose was Sunday of Methadone, and I went to the hospital last night and they gave me 8 mg of Morphine. I now have my prescription for Subutex 8 mg tablets. So I have been in withdrawal from Methadone for 4 full days, and its been over 12 hours from taking the Morphine. Am I safe to take Subutex? I have been in serious, serious withdrawals, reason why I was in the hospital... It took 2 & 1/2 things of fluids to get me hydrated again, I was experiencing it all. Throwing Up, Diahrrea, hot/cold flashes, chills, runny nose, pale, couldn't hold anything down "NOT EVEN WATER", muscle spasms, crawling skin s***, all of it. I would like to know the best over the counter med to help with my methadone withdrawals and pain. I have little money no insurance and hurt like never before. I'm determined to be 100% clean. ## I hate to tell you this but nothing will stop your withdrawals from methadone. The only thing that may help you is ibuprofen for the fevers. I went to a physicians assistant who prescribed me gabapentin (which i am alergic to)and clonidine which only lowers your blood pressure. I am on 18 days without methadone 80mgs a day or more depending on the day and the withdrawals the first week and a half are pure hell!.... I'm feeling better in some ways but still feel paralyzed with fear whenever I have to go somewhere. Work has been extremely difficult. Nobody to take care of me financially o...

I have been on Methadone for about 3 years for long term pain management and the stomach issues are awful. I went from 30 to 10 two years ago and have now been 3 days on 7.5 with no withdrawals yet. When will they start? I have clonidine and Ativan from the doctor to help, but I have a 3 day conference in July 7-9 and need to be pain free at 7.5 by then. Then I will take the last 2 weeks of summer to get to 5 mg. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? I'm sorry, but there's no definitive time frame that I can give you in response. It can vary from person to person. Have you experienced any, yet? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal symptoms as possibly including nausea, diarrhea, fever, chills and rebound pain. Can anyone that's taken it give an approximate time frame that may help? #...

I've been on various pain meds since I was 21 due to a VERY serious car accident where I broke my back and did a lot of other damage to my body. I've moved up through SEVERAL meds over the years, and have NEVER been fully pain free, but at times able to live life fairly normally, others not so much! I've been on methadone for a few years now and was actually doing pretty great! Didn't completely take away my pain, but made life liveable and side effects were something I could handle. But due to issues it was causing with my heart my pain doc just switched me from 10 mg 3x day to 30 mg of morphene er 3 times day. It's only been a week, but I'm MISERABLE! In a GREAT deal of pain, haven't slept in days, not only from being uncomfortable, but from withdrawal (I d...

Hi there, this is for the people who are on methadone / or Suboxone. I've been on methadone for an opiate addiction, for a year now. My clean date is feb 2, 2015. At first, methadone was the best thing that had ever happened to me. I finally felt normal, and thought I was ready to get my life back on track. Well.. What a lie that was. I was at 75 mlgs of methadone from February 2015-August 2015, then started tapering off at 5 mlgs a week. I have a rapid metabolizer, so methadone never lasted longer than 10 hours in my system. Now I'm at 30 mlgs and I'm living in hell! I'm in constant withdrawal, body aches, sweating, hot /cold, emotional, aggressive... Etc. All I want is to feel normal again, but don't want to be tied on a leash to the methadone anymore! People say t...

I was on 120 mg of methadone for 8 years straight with no relapse, so I decided to quit it. I got down to 110mg and had the weekend take home so i have been taking half of a half of 5mg and now I'm out. That was 1 week ago and yesterday when i ran out of the 5 mg I started to feel sick. I don't want to go on suboxone or subutex. I was told a doctor could prescribe Adderall for focus and Xanax for stress but I can't seem to find a doctor who will help. I've had a seizure/panic attack in my sleep cause the dream was soooo vivid.... I refuse to go to inpatient treatment of any kind I live in Benton TN in the middle of 60 acres and my license is suspended so i could no longer go to methadone clinic. I'm worried because it's just me, my husband, and 3 kids out here. T...

Wanted to say I just came out of precipitated withdrawal! What holy hell! I have been on methadone for 6 years taking 115 mlg daily & got myself down to 50 mlg for 2 weeks, waited more than 72 hours, then took 2mlg suboxone. I was fine. Not better, just not worse. Following my doc's orders, I took another 2mlg 90 mins later. Ok, then took another 2mlg after 90 min and oh my god. Almost instantly threw me into precipitated withdrawal! This was to say the least horrible ×1000. Don't want this to happen again but determined to switch to subs. When can I try again without going through hell?! Please help! ## Unfortunately there is really no specific time frame as everyone is different. The best way to tell when your body is ready is to make sure you are in full blown withdr...

Is the worst over with or do I have worse days ahead to look forward to?? ## Hello, Deckgirl! How are you doing? Yes, withdrawals and rebound effects may still be forthcoming. Methadone is notorious for causing such problems and it does tend to last in your body for quite awhile, after you stop taking it, so it's often a delayed effect. Learn more Methadone details here. It may not happen to you, though, there's no way to know for sure ahead of time. Ive been battling the monster methadone for about 3 years now and I'm sick of it. I tapered down to 20mg a day and ran out. After trying elimodrol and withdrawal ease supplements and feeling OK for the first 2 days, I thought cool I will be OK. Hell no, day three my body told me that stuff ain't doing anything. I had a bottle of tramadol so I took about 250 mg and after 30 min I noticed I was sitting still and not wanting to jump out of my skin. WOW. So now I've been doing the same for 4 days and still alright. Is it too good to be true? Am I just trading one for the other or can it really help? I am sole provider of my wife and two young kids, so missing alot of work to go detox is out of the question. And cold turkey I can't handle right now. Anyone been here before?, ...

I am trying to do a rapid detox but I am decreasing 5mg every 3 days, I am at 20mg now, I was at 40, when I started 8 years ago I was at 180mg! I am starting to really feel the effects and I wanted to know if anyone had any advice on anything that could help me get through this because this is my second attempt, I failed the first time, I never got past 25mg, well I hit 20mg for 1 day. PLEASE let me know of anything that may help....thank you very much.... ## Hello, Margie! How are you doing? Methadone is high addictive and very, very hard to detox from. A rapid detox is likely a bad idea and most likely why it didn't work the first time. Most people never get off of Methadone and require a maintenance dose for life, the few that are successful do so only with medical help and a ver...

I have been taking 56 mg of methadone every other day I would like to know if 3 8mg Suboxone would help with withdrawal. I know that I have to wait at least three days and in withdrawal before I take the Suboxone. I would like to know if this is going to help me. I am a single mother 36 years old and a full-time college student, I was sober for 4 1/2 years and had an fortunate relapse this is why I started at the methadone clinic in the first place. My new semester starts in a month and I want to be free and clear of this, my question is will the 3 8mg Suboxone and help me so I will not be sick?
