I am forced off morphine as drug panels allowed doctors to force legitimate pain patients off meds with no legal protections for patients. The pain associations that promoted drug evaluations, did not advocate that patients be withheld pain meds, unless they had aberrant behavior more than 2 times. Veterans killed themselves because of a intolerant policy that forced them into withdrawal. Many were forced into withdrawal then given drug panels, and many could not receive treatment for their disabling pain. The DEA called the VA the candyland drug dealers for veterans, said there is no legitimate use for pain, that patients just want to feel high. They have gotten away with it so far. My husband is on 2 - 30 mg morphine daily. He feels terrible and just wants to get off. How? ## From personal experience, I can tell you that even only using it as prescribed can result in severe withdrawal symptoms if you stop cold turkey. Mine lasted for nearly a month. The best way to stop Morphine is to slowly taper it off, that way you minimize the withdrawals. He should really consult his doctor to get the best taper schedule and be under a doctor's supervision while he is stopping it. It is a very potent narcotic. Has he spoken to his doctor about his desire to stop using it, yet?

Pain medications can affect everyone differently, whereas some people get great results from taking it, but there are others that it just doesn't work for. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to actually try it. To answer your other question, Morphine is a narcotic pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain. I wouldn't suggest trying to use it for any other purpose outside of that. I have been taking 60mg of Morphine daily for a year. This past week I took 3-4 8mg Dilaudids daily. Last night I went back to 60 mg Morphine. This morning I took 6mg of Suboxone and was in withdrawal 20 minutes later. I had to take a 1 mg Xanax and fell asleep. I am worried about tomorrow. I have no more Subs but I do have a 60mg Morphine. Does anyone know if 2 15mg morphine tabs would be equal to 1 30mg oxycodone. Both are immediate release. I have been on the 30's but due to my upcoming surgery my Dr. feels that I need stronger pain med's. I was taking 30mg oxycodone and the doctor switched to 15 mg Morphine ER and 15mg oxycodone and the pain is the worst it's been in the last 8 months. Am i going crazy or is it possible that the morphine does nothing for me. Im taking 30 mgs of morphine 3 times a day. It doesnt make me feel high r anything. It just takes away my chronic back pain, due to a couple of back surgies. Im also taking tramdol 50 mgs of tramdol also works good. However, in order for any of these meds to work. I have tlo take 3 pills of each, meaning im taking 90mgs of morphine and a 150 of tramdol. I don't think there is any differences in the suggested doses, but rather the two 30mg pills-3 times a day allows you to better adjust your dose if you feel that you don't need as much for some reason or another. That's really one of the only conclusions I can come to, unless any of these are extended release tablets. I broke my ankle two weeks ago and the doctor started me on 40 - 80 mg a day then after a week I dropped down to 20-30mg a day. It has been almost a total of 2 weeks on this medication and when I wake in the morning I feel sick and sweaty until I take my meds. My pain specialist had me on 40 mg Opana ER and 15 mg Morphine Sulfate IR for 8 years.
