I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none. ## Prolia is used to treat or prevent Osteoporosis, specifically in post-menopausal women, it contains the active ingredient Denosumab. I'm glad to hear you've had no side effects, however, they can include: skin infections, jaw bone problems, irritation at the injection site and hypocalcemia. Read More: MedlinePlus Does anyone else have experience using this? ## How are you doing now? Still now side effects? Please let us know ## I was given a shot of prolia 8 days ago. I am suffering from pains in my arms and legs, digestive discomfort and nausea. Has anyone had this shot as I would like to know how long these side effects last as I am unable to work at...

I had my infusion Mar 4 2015. I have experienced severe stomach pains, leg pains that wake me up at night, a horrible dry cough, near migraine type headaches, very severe weakness, trouble walking, constipation, had to have dental work that I usually have great teeth, some trouble sleeping. My rheumatologist did nothing to try to help me with the symptoms but my primary doctor gave me medication that help with the stomach pains, take Excedrin for Migraines and enteric aspirin for back and body, and other meds to try and find some comfort. I'm somewhat better than the few weeks after the infusion but still have a lot of problems. Hopefully this doesn't last for 6 months. ## Hello, Shirl! How are you? I'm so sorry about what you're going through. Everything you've list...

I am a 57 year old female who has -2.5 bone density scores on hips and -3.4 in the spine. I used Forteo for 2 years, but because I was scared to death to try any of the biophosphates and Prolia - I lost the benefit from Forteo. It was minimal improvement at best. I had 3 different doctors in 3 different cities tell me that I should use Prolia. I had the injection on Friday, April 11th. I had put the shot off for 6 months after my pharmacy delivered it to the doctor office due to fear and all the forums. So -- if anyone wants to know information, I will keep you posted. Since yesterday, I have had itching in a variety of places and I had a tough time falling asleep last night. I also have some minor cramping in my calves and thighs. So far this is bearable, but I am trusting God to get m...

On June 16th 2015 I received my third Prolia inj. The first two did not cause me any pain but I have had weight gain and insomnia from the first shot. After the third one, on June 17th my hips spine shoulders neck were so painful I could hardly walk. I am 70 years old and have been very active in my life. I feel old for the first time in my life. I am depressed, fatigued, I lack strength and stamina. I will never take another Prolia inj again. I am a retired nurse and read the possible side effects but since I didn't have reactions of pain on the first two, I went ahead and took the third shot. Biggest mistake I have ever made. My question is how long are the side effects going to last? ## Hello, Carol! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're so miserable. As to how long the...

My Mum was given a 60mg injection of Prolia on 2nd May 2014. Ever since she has had severe abdominal pain, can't keep off the toilet and her lips have blistered and bled! This is awful and she wishes she had not had it. At 79 years old she suffers with osteoporosis and quite honestly was better off before the injection. I sincerely hope these side effects don't last for six months because she sure as hell won't be having a second dose. Be warned people, it seems that there are so many problems with this drug. ## Hello, Janet! How is your mother feeling? Yes, there have been many complaints about Prolia, there have even been people who managed to take it without a problem the first few times, then suddenly had a reaction.

I am 55 years old and have lupus, arthritis, and severe osteoporosis. After more than a decade of taking various meds to try to stop my bones from wasting away with no success, I had my first injection of Prolia at the end of December 2015. I am supposed to get my second shot within the week, but have decided against it. Like many of you, I have felt just awful since December: severe bone and joint pain, worsening depression, constipation, exhaustion, and just plain feeling incapable of doing almost anything. When I talked to both my endocrinologist and rheumatologist about my symptoms, my concerns were dismissed and I was told the side effects would only last a few days at the most. My question is have any of you felt better after you stopped taking the Prolia? If so, how long did it t...

I got my second prolia shot, had severe shortness of breath 2 days later and I still find it hard to breathe, have gone to primary care physician and she thinks its my pulmonary fibrosis, which I have had for a 18 months. Have not had this severe shortness of breath until last week, shortly after having taken prolia shot ## Had my second prolia shot over two weels ago. Shortness of breath still extremely severe. Been to primary care and pulmonologist. Both do not think pulmanary fibrosis is cause. As they don't see that it is getting any worse. Oxygen doesn't seem to help nor as in the past, predisone helped with some shortnes of breath (non compared to this) and it has not helped at all ## Yes, these types of breathing issues are listed as possible side effects of the Prolia, t...

This was my 3 prolia injection, right away the worst arthritic attack wrists & hands, exzema head, eye involvement, very weak. blood work all over the place. have had 2 pancreatic attacks, 1 bowel blockage. Spent all my time resting no choice, finally in October felt a little stronger, able to walk around, no driving yet. I felt there was light at the end of the tunnel. November able to do groceries, small things but improvement. Then last week of November extreme weakness of the legs and arms unable to support myself, and my brain is off again hard to concentrate, I am feeling discouraged, when will I be OK. Everyone considering this drug please make sure you know all the side effects, I was told there were none. It is up to us to check for ourselves. ## Hello, Danielle! How are yo...

I had my first and only Prolia shot on 2/24/15. I have exprienced severe swelling not my right knee starting exactly 7 days after getting the shot. I like to exercise - walking daily. I am unable to do this now. Will this poison really be out of my system in 6 months. HelpZ, ## Hello, Diana! How are you? I'm very sorry about what happened to you. It will be out, yes, but there's no way of knowing how long any possibly issues that it caused will last. Many people have complained and had to stop taking it. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, joint/muscle aches and headache. Has the swelling gone down any? ## There is an entire thread about Prolia side effects. Go to the medwatch home page and type in Prolia in the search box. ## Diana I wish you all the best and pray...

I had two injections of prolia and then my doctor said we could stop, because I was well - that was 2 years ago. Now I had a test and it seems my results are worse again. My doctor said to start with bonviva again (medication I used before prolia). I take calcium 1 calcimagon-d3 forte every day. Are there other therapies? I had no problems when I took prolia, but I don't want it anymore because of the side effects. ## I found the post on Side effects experienced after a Prolia injection very interesting as I have been having this injection every six months for osteoporosis for the last three and a half years. I have had this injection sometimes in the arm and sometimes in the stomache depending on the nurse/dr. injecting. I must say I have never had any reaction either in terms of a...

RECLAST & PROLIA both CAN & DO CAUSE WHATEVER YOU READ ON HERE. tHEY BOTH ARE NOT THE PROPER DRUGS FOR ANY OF US. sIDE EFFECTS DIFFER FROM ONE TO THE OTHER, SOME LAST A LONG TIME. i DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TAKE ANYMORE, BUT I DO HAVE SIGNIFICANT TMJ PAIN & CLICKING IN MY JAW. OPERATED ON TMJ 25 YRS. AGO---NO PROBLEM UNTIL I TOOK FIRST SHOT OF PROLIA. PAIN IN LONG BONE OF LEG ALSO, THE ONE THAT USUALLY SPLINTERS FROM RECLAST !! GOOD LUCK TO ALL/ ## Hi Antonette, How's it going? I'm sorry to hear about your experience with Prolia inj's. Based on the number of threads I've seen created on Prolia side effects (just on this site alone), it seems like there should be enough people to organize some sort of petition to the FDA regarding it's serious adverse effect...

I have had one only PROLIA injection this was eight months ago, no second for me!! my first side effects set in for me 5 months in with a stiff and very painful neck plus TMJ pain, these two have subsided some however my latest is ITCHY scalp, I a wondering how long this will last? Two months in I had a bleed in the back of my eye, this is now improving very slowly, to me it is PROLIA related. I know my side effects are minor compared to other posts. What a weird drug this is to cause so much pain and distress. It will be interesting to see if in the future there will a legal action as there was with Fosomax!! BTW I am 79. ## Two days after receiving my first injection (and my last for sure) of PrIolia, I have dozens of horrid painful, itchy, burning lesions all over my body and scalp. ...

Anyone have this problem? I was given two shots over the last year no problem. Third shot in November and I cannot resolve my severe constipation. Nothing helps. I eat enough fiber, drink enough water, and work out most days. Miralax doesn't help. Any suggestions? ## Heat some prune juice and drink it but make sure you have easy access to a bathroom. Also pitted prunes. Heat them also after adding water to cover and microwaving them till plump. Not all at once. It may work like dynamite!!! Just a cup of the juice at night, go in morning or whenever it wants you to! ## The antibody Denosumab® or Prolia® for skeletal/bone loss issues comes with a long list of side effects with some being very severe. Constipation is among the top three, so it happens quite often. These issue...

Had a Prolia injection last week (thought it was a calcium supplement) Two days later woke 4am with heart palpitations and feeling light-headed. Went to Dr and my blood pressure was 139/85-normally it is 90/60. Still over a week later have to lie down mostly to keep my heart from racing. Never again! I was not told of any side effects or I would not have had it. ## I am very sorry about what you've had to deal with, after being given Prolia. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including eczema, nausea, diarrhea, and afib. But, it is also well known to cause odd side effects in many people that try it, just like other medications used to treat osteoporosis. My mother-in-law's doctor talked her into trying one, and within half an hour, she couldn't control her bowe...

I have been on HRT for 3 months which was started for post menopausal concerns of extreme vaginal dryness . I had received a Prolia injection 5 months ago for Osteoperosis which wiped out my immune system and made me very sick. Now at 5 months post Prolia I am beginning to feel better a small bit daily. I will not do Prolia ever again or oral Biophosphates due to side effects. I went to Mayo clinic last month for Osteoperosis guidance and elvista was suggested as an option in place of my HRT. I was hoping for RX from mayo clinic but they gave suggestions for me to take back to my home doctors. ## Has anyone out there in Prolia land had any experience with EVISTA? I realize it is another medication. The mayo doc discussed side effects, which mimic HRT and menopause symptoms, but in addit...

Is it possible to inject only half the 60mg say 30 mg then wait a month and see if side effects are bad before deciding to inject the other half? I know the auto syringe is set up for one full injection but I wonder if it can be opened and hand injected with another syringe to inject only 30 mg as a precaution ## Hi there, I tried this with my GP re a small dose, not on he said, I am now into my 6th month of my first injection. I shall not be having another as in this last month I have had stiff painful neck with back of skull soreness., I do so hope that this will wear off with time!! I also had a bleed behind my right eye,his this I am sure was related to PROLIA!!
