If you're on Methadone can you still take Suboxone safely? ## NO! They are both very strong narcotics, it is not safe to take both. In addition, Suboxone also contains Naloxone, which neutralizes other opiates. I have been taking 32 mg suboxone/subutex for over a year. I switched to Methadone four days ago. I had my fourth dose of methadone today...50 mg. I feel like I’m in at least partial withdrawal, even though it’s only been 12 hours. There’s not much methadone built up in my system, so would it be safe to take subs now? I feel lousy, but I’m terrified of precipitated withdrawals. I’m guessing that wouldn’t happen, because the methadone hasn’t had a chance to build up in my system. Any advice would be so appreciated! I take 12mg of suboxone a day and it keeps me level headed and happy for the most part. It’s saved my life, but it doesn’t completely ameliorate my urges to use. Hello my name is kev. I have been consuming about 3 to 6 mg of Subutex daily for about 7 months. I'm very eager to eliminate the Subutex and start on these Methadone. Is it safe to consume Methadone 20 mgs the day after taking about 3 mgs of Subutex? I am on 6 mg of suboxone and have been dosing for five years.. I have come across some 10 mg methadone tablets and am wondering if I could take some of the done tabs to get a high? But am concerned about any problem. After taking 98 mg of methadone for the past 9 yrs, is it possible 2 switch 2 suboxone? My body was significantly abused when i was out there, lots of back injuries, no pain w/ methadone. I've been on the highest dose of suboxone for about a year now and i don't feel like it's helping at all anymore. I wake up miserable everyday with horrible cravings and i wish i hadn't woken up at all. I want to switch to methadone for pain which is what my family Dr. treats me for. I think my Dr will write for it for pain management. Well yesterday was my last day of subs for me. I tapered myself all the way down to .5mg a day. I'm ok today but my back is starting to mess with me, but I'm fine. This is simple. I've been on suboxone for five years. I'm clean. I took opiates for thirty years. Methadone was the kinky way out and frankly doesn't work for the same reason subutex rarely works. You can still take opiates on top of both. Suboxone has a blocker. It is easy knowing you can't feel high. I still go to therapy and meetings. Beats being deaf. Good luck. ## Hello, Anfy! I was wondering if anyone could help me here. I was on a high dose of methadone - 135ml & in total have been on that & now Suboxone & Subutext for a total of 10 years. I've spent the last few years reducing & am now on 2mg of Suboxone & 1.2mg of Subutext. I've actually had to stop reductions as I've been really sick for the last 7 months. I feel nauseous & weak all the time, occasionally throw up & burp up sick all the time. On 60mg. of methadone. Want to due a taper of 5mg. per day til at 30mg. Stop for two days, Then start Suboxone 8mg per day for two weeks then discontinue. That could be too rapid of a taper for the Methadone, according to the FDA, it is highly addictive and tends to cause severe cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Additionally, waiting 2 days to take the Suboxone could be too long or too short of a time period to start it. You need to be in full withdrawal, which for some people could be 12 hours, or it may take several days. Taking it too soon could cause you to go into precipitated withdrawals, which can be very dangerous and, if you go into severe withdrawals sooner, there'd be no point in waiting longer to take it. 2 weeks...
