On most of these tests, the doctors aren't just checking for the presence of the drug in question, but they also check the levels of it. When you are prescribed a certain dosage, at a certain frequency, your levels should fall within a certain range and anything that falls outside of that range can alert them to a problem. I have been on prescribed Oxycodone for 5 yrs now for back surgeries with nerve damage. My dosages have never risen over the years. I take Nucynta ER and use the Oxy for break-thru pain. There are some basic tests that just show the presence of opiates, however, there are others that can show the specific opiate that was taken. If the latter test is used, then they will be able to tell them apart and know you took Hydrocodone.
