Hi, I've been prescribed opiates for years now. With a few breaks between (with Subs, methadone, etc) after weaning my usage down. I took 2 days of methadone. Can I still take 2 mg (and slowly increase) my subutex use 24hrs after my last dose of 30mg methadone? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? Hello my name is kev. I have been consuming about 3 to 6 mg of Subutex daily for about 7 months. I'm very eager to eliminate the Subutex and start on these Methadone. Is it safe to consume Methadone 20 mgs the day after taking about 3 mgs of Subutex? OK. I was dependent on oxycodone and norco for over a year. Started taking suboxone at just 8mg a day (that's not low, subs are extremely strong). Every 4 days I took off a mg till I was down to 1mg. After 4 days on 1mg I stopped and very light withdrawal for just ONE DAY! Then I was fine! As far as taking norco with suboxone, I just waited 5 hours and didn't go into WD but didn't feel the norco at all. So you need to wait a few days to feel opiates after taking suboxone, but I don't recommend that because you may not be out of your sub withdrawals (just not realizing it) and go into WD. Wait 2 weeks. I went cold turkey of of 80mg oxycodone per day and it was hell, so I can call subs a miracle. If you taper right you'll have almost NO WD! Hope this PSA helps.

Hello I have been on opiates for about 2 years now and I was given a half of a quarter of a subutex and this is my first time taking it. I was wanting to know when it wears off? I think it threw me into full detox because I took 20 mg of hydrocodone 7 hours before I took the sub. I am aware I have a problem I just want to know when the sub will wear off. Im on morphine 20ml daily and fentonyl patches 100mg every 3 days I ran out of my pain relief last week n used subutex today. If one took 2mg of buprenorphine and 8 mg methadone an hour later, would they get sick? ## No, but the Methadone will not have any effect. Subutex carries the risk of causing the same side effects as Methadone and other opiate narcotics. The active ingredient in it is Buprenorphine, so it can also be habit forming and cause dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, depression and constipation. The difference is that is isn't known to cause the withdrawals that are as severe as those of Methadone, nor to cause cravings. So, unlike Methadone treatment, where people usually end up on a lifetime maintenance dose of it, those who take Subutex or Suboxone usually end up eventually becoming entirely drug free. If your dosage is properly calculated, then you shouldn't experience any withdrawal effects or cravings, you doctor should know how much of the Subutex will be needed to prevent any issues. I take 24 mg subutux, I was told to stop taking it 2 days prior to surgery an was prescribed 10 mg oxycodone 4 times a day for withdrawel. I has surugery yesterday and was told to double the oxygen and take 20 mg every 4 hours. l I can not sleep I am in withdrawel and in agony. ## Did you contact your doctor? The Buprenorphine in Subutex is a very strong narcotic opiate, so you might not be on a high enough dosage of the Oxycodone to actually help. I can understand their not wanting you to take it for surgery, but did they say why they didn't want you going back on it afterwards? It can handle pain and would have avoided these types of problems. ## I feel awful for you have you told them yet...if so go to the er!

What is the maximum dose of suboxone or subutex when you have severe pain? ## What is the maximum daily dose of subutex? I'm taking it to wean off of opiate pain killers but may need to stay on it for chronic pain. My doctor has me taking 2mg up to 6 times a day, but it feels like too much and I feel sick at 6 mg.
