Will taking a few hydrocodone, during withdraw from suboxone, prolong the time it will take to get over the suboxone? ## Hello, Pat! How are you? The Hydrocodone will not have any effect, since the Naloxone in the Suboxone blocks it and the Buprenorphine is what will have the stronger grip on your opiate receptors. You have to be off of Suboxone for several days, before you can take anything else. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are you following your doctor's taper schedule? ## I've taken some sub's for like 4 days.. Usually a 8 a day..I get my Vic's Wednesday.. I started today.Sunday.no suboxone.. So will...

I have taken 8mg orange suboxone tablet over the course of 3 days. I regularly take hydrocodone for chronic pain and a torn labrum in my hip. My last dose of suboxone was at 9am this morning, can I take hydrocodone tomorrow afternoon? Will it help my pain? I'm showing slight wd symptoms so far but mostly wondering about my hip pain. ## i am wondering the same thing. I'm stopping the 8 mg subs and my sub doc gave me a script for 3 20mg oxycontin and 3 15mg of oxycodone and said i shouldn't have any withdrawal. I'm afraid, but the subs have totally zapped me. Good luck! ## Hi I took a 8mg sub yesterday morning then I took percocet this afternoon. How soon can I take another sub? I've been taking 8 mg/2mg Suboxone strips for 1 year. I am having a molar extraction in the morning. I took my Suboxone strip this morning & the tooth extraction is tomorrow at 9:30 am. If I don't take Suboxone again before the procedure, would I be able to take Hydrocodone after the surgery? I don't want to get sick, and I am concerned of going through it with no pain medications. Any advice appreciated! ## Hi, you can use hydros after you have your tooth pulled but it,s not gonna do much. You would be better off taking extra suboxone after you had extraction. Suboxone only works for about 4-5hrs for pain relief. Of course it works much longer keeping wds away and stuff like that. I was speaking to my sub dr just the other day about this. I have addiction issues and pai...

I have been prescribed to suboxone for 3 years and I haven't taken it in 2 days. I don't regularly use opiates but I have taken 30 mg. of hydrocodone in the past 12 hours. When will it be safe for me to take my suboxone again? ## Hi Wade, This estimate may be different for everyone, but I've read other comments here suggesting that one should wait a minimum of 12-24 hours after taking opiates before going back on suboxone. The time frame seems to vary though, whereas other individuals mentioned waiting only 8 hours and didn't denote any regrets from doing so. Having said that, I get the impression you'd be just fine waiting it out for a day. But if still in doubt, I would even encourage you ask your prescribing doctor or pharmacist for a second opinion since you can ...

Hi all! A little info of my history: I've been a Hydrocodone user for over a year. A typical daily dose would be 18-20 10mg Norco. I've decided to go cold turkey. On Monday @ 8:30 am I took ONE 8mg Suboxone to hold my withdrawals off while I got things situated before l start WDing. It's been 50 hours since my ONE dose of Suboxone and I still haven't felt any WD's. So my question to you all is in your opinion when shall I anticipate my WD symptoms? ## How did this go for you? Were you fine after 50 hours? ## I have been on Hydrocodone for years. I missed my appointment and it is a holiday. I took about 1mg or less of a suboxone strip because of shakes and withdrawal symptoms... That was about 5 hours ago. I am getting a pill because I do not want to take more of the ...

I have been on 8 mg/2mg Suboxone strips for 1 year. I am having a tooth (back molar) extraction in the morning. I used my Suboxone strip this morning & the tooth extraction is at 9:30 am tomorrow. If I don't use another Suboxone strip before the extraction, would I be able to take Hydrocodone after my surgery? I don't want to get sick, but I am terrified of going through this surgery with no pain meds. Please help. ## should be 48 hrs to alow to leave your system ## So if I took a 10 mg Hydrocodone after not taking a Suboxone for 24-28 hours, will it throw me into withdrawals? That would do me in after surgery to end up in wd's. ## Sorry to say but 8 mg of Suboxone is way stronger then any hydrocodone. It would take a year for you to even feel the effects. I have been taking one 8mg suboxone a day for a month. How long do I need to wait to take a lortab? ## Hello! How are you? Hi,Ive recently began suboxone treatment @ (8mg/2mg) twice daily, today is my 3rd day. My question is straightforward, how many mgs of suboxone is "considered" closely equal to only 80 mg of hydrocodone? Am simply trying very hard to get my dose correct, seems doctor overmedicated me during induction. I would greatly appreciate any feedback, thanks & best wishes to everyone. ## Hello, Staci! How are you? There really is no direct conversion, but the rough one that's usually used is 1.2mgs of the Buprenorphine to each 30mgs of Hydrocodone, but the person's overall tolerance to narcotics must be factored in, along with the fact that the Suboxone is dosed once a day, where the other was taken several times a day. So, that's probably why you were given the 8/2 dosage. Ha...

Been on suboxones for over a year. I stopped taking them for a week because of some dental work. I was in so much pain needing a root canal and I realized that no matter how many hydrocodones I took, it did nothing for pain. I am thinking it's because I've been on suboxones. Anyway, I want to start back on suboxones, but I am nervous to when to start taking them. The last time I took hydrocodone was about 17 hours ago. I do not feel any withdrawal symptoms from stopping them. When would I be safe to take my suboxone? ## Hello, Ricsgirl! How are you? Suboxone actually contains 2 ingredients, the opiate Buprenorphine and Naloxone, which neutralizes other opiates to help prevent their abuse, while someone is under treatment with it. The Naloxone is most likely why the Hydrocodone d...

I have ten suboxones. I have been taking oxycontin for pain but want to try at home to w/d. I can't discuss this with my doctor as it will affect my insurance. This is a fact..in my case... Can someone on here tell me how to take my subs? I would appreciate any answers and no lectures. How many do I need to withdraw..Thanks so much. ## You have to be off the oxycontin long enough to start feeling the withdrawals, THEN, and only then, you take the suboxone. I was on a high dose of hydrocodone, and just 2mg calmed me down. Make what you have last. Start with 2mg, if that doesn't help, take another 2mg. Just a little - it goes a long way. ## Suboxone contains a powerful opiate Buprenoprhine, with the agonist Naloxone. So, it can also put opiate users into withdrawals if it is not u...

I've been taking only 1mg or less of suboxone for a little over 2 months. I've been off of it for 5 days now but I felt so crappy I had to take a few hydrocodone 10mg each day to get through work. Will this only prolong the suboxone wothdrawls or is it ok to take a few just until the major withdrawls from the subs last? Please help! I don't want to make this process any worse than it has to be ## Hello, Lilly! How are you? You should really get professional help with this issue, that would be the best thing to do. Hello I have been on opiates for about 2 years now and I was given a half of a quarter of a subutex and this is my first time taking it. I was wanting to know when it wears off? I took a 1/4th of 8/2mg suboxone this morning, then in the afternoon, then at 5. I get my hydrocodone 10mg tomorrow. will they do me any good. It was my first time taking suboxone and i have a really fast metabolism. I am wondering will I be able to feel my pain killers tomorrow? ## @stageman, Because everyone is different this is only intended to be an estimate...but according to other related threads on here, I've drawn the opinion that you may want to wait a good 48 hours before taking other narcotics such as hydrocodone. However there are a variety of factors/questions that come into play which could also determine how long you should wait, including but not limited to: How long you've been on suboxone? What dose you've been taking regularly? Was this a one time thing? D...

Hello I just found this forum, and first I want to say I have taken Klonopin 1 mg a day for 20 years for my anxiety disorder. 9 years ago after a c-section I became dependent on Hydrocodone. Recently I have tapered down to only 1 to 2 a day and have been trying so hard to quit. Anyways, I was rx'ed some 5mg Suboxone pills. For a few days I have taken just a little of the pill, maybe 1mg of it gets me through the day, but after researching it I am worried. I was going to go back to the doctor to see if they would give me those to stop the Hydrocodone dependence. But there is no way I could ever stop the Klonopin. I would rather be dependent on it than go through my monstrous panic attacks. Would these small doses be safe together? 1mg Klonopin and 1 (maybe 1.5) mg Suboxone? There is ...

I have been taking hydrocodone for 2 years and need to know how much soboxin strip i take and the detox process ## Hello, Bree! How are you doing? The dosage of Suboxone has to be carefully calculated and is dependent on the severity of your addiction and the amount of the drug of choice that you were taking, so you haven't provided enough information in your post. It also can't be taken, until you are in full withdrawals, or the Naloxone in it can throw you into dangerous withdrawals. Learn more Suboxone details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I'm going through it, 29yrs old. Tried it one time since 2011. I'm tired and want to do it. Thanks ## It depends how much Suboxone you've been taking each day and how long you've been taking it. Can you please post back with more details? Has your doctor given you a tapering schedule? The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addition, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I just wanted to take a moment to say. I'm new to suboxone. I was taking about 140mg of hydrocodone for a very long time. Dr prescribed suboxone film 8/2mg twice a day. Has anyone cut the film into smaller doses? For example dose yourself every 4 or 6 hours with a cut piece of film. I have an odd job where I work 12 hour days, i'm concerned of feeling "loopy" at work. This is a very private and personal journey and wish to keep my work out of it. I would appreciate any suggestions. I just started today( on my day off, have the next 2.5 days off) w/ 8mg/2mg. First dose. So i'm curious once these start building up in my system how am I going to feel. ## Hello, Macy! How are you? Hell no its a waste. No matter what order u take the 2, you run the risk of getting more sick, wasting your pill or money, or worse, both! Haha never take the 2 in the same day. Ive been on subs 4 years (4years too long) but I would have to stop taking suboxone for 2 weeks of being sick before id feel the effects of oxy roxy or hydrocodone. Good luck to ya. Take another sub if anything the 2 just dont play nice together ## Hello, I don't know if your post was intended to be directed at another user (based on your wording); however, I do agree with you in that Suboxone should not be taken with any other opioid medications. I'm not one to speak from personal experience, so I'll leave the more concrete details to others who've already experienced this. But until the subs ar...

I have been on suboxone strip for over a yr. I had wisdom teeth pulled last Thursday and ate my last 7.5s yesterday at 12pm. When can I take my subs again ## Hi Eric, Some people suggest waiting anywhere from 1-3 days in between using hydrocodone and suboxone, while others have noted that they only needed to wait 12 hours... Rumor has it that the waiting time is based on when you start to feel withdrawals from opiates before attempting to take any suboxone, so in reality the time frame may be somewhat different for everyone. However, due to the sensitive nature of the situation, I would still encourage you to seek confirmation with your prescribing doctor and/or dentist just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps!
