i have been taking pain pills since 1995. i live in tampa but work in nevada so i go btw two drs when im home or working. Well, i guess they are out of the blues here in nevada or the pharm messed up but ive been getting 3 generic oxys a day, which work GREAT for me, i was overtaking the roxies these actually i can take every 8 hours w great results. well, stupid old me decided to be honest and tell this old man dr in nevada about the error. now he says i can only take them twice a day, which results in me feeling like s**t 8 hours a day. my question is are ppl typically / ever / commonly given 3 oxys a day, meaning every 8 hours? this man and i are about to battle it out, because i refuse to live in pain and detoxes when there's no need, and i could have said nothing and was honest...

are there any gerneric oxycontin.the new op 40 make me ill.ive ben on this drug for years now,i dont want to change ## Unfortunately, no! Due to the proliferation of abuse and diversion, it is now only manufactured by Purdue. Even when the ones on the market listed as being from Ethex are made by Purdue via the same formulation, they are just a licensed distributor. There have been many complains about them not being as effective and causing odd side effects. I wish I had a solution for you, however, since you don't want to switch medications, the only thing I can suggest is that you let both Purdue and the FDA know of the problems you are having with it. You can do so by calling the following numbers: Purdue 888-726-7535 FDA 800-332-1088 Have you talked to your doctor about this pr...

I need a new pm doc anywhere in Louisiana or nearby state asap. I have med rec;s and legit pain but my doc got n2 trouble and cannot prescribe my meds any longer. ive been on oxy's for years and cant find a doc who will take my case. ## The first question I always find myself asking people in your situation is... How have you been looking for a new doctor? And the reason I'm asking is because if you're calling them and telling them you need to have certain medications prescribed, none of them are likely to even let you get in the door, because most doctors will see that as drug seeking behavior. Learn more pain management details here. Thus, what you need to do is set up an appointment with a new doctor and just make sure they get a full copy of your records. When they see w...

i do not think the op version of oxycontin are working.they seem to go through me without digestion.i have literally seen them in the toilet up to 6 hours after ive taken them so im not getting relief from the pain. are the old version ones still made and provided to pharmecies? ## No, the old ones are no longer available. However, it is normal to find the tablet shell of these time released Oxycontin OP in your stool, later. However, it is just the shell, the medication is slowly released from it. As to the problem with them not working, there have been many complaints about this, as well. You can contact both Purdue Pharma and the FDA to let them know of your complaints, the more people that do so, the more attention they will pay to the problem. Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/m...

ive been on these for about 7 years and was just asking coz my teeth are slowly getting worse also on oxynorm amitriptoline seratail co-codamol and have just started on fentanyl patches please help ## Your teeth can be affected by many medications, especially narcotics. The problem is caused due to the fact that they tend to sap the minerals from your body, plus they cause dry mouth, which allows more bacteria to sit on your teeth. From the medications you are taking, all of the narcotics, the Oxycontin, Co-Codamol, Oxynorm and the Fentanyl can cause a loss of calcium, as well as dry mouth. And the Amitryptiline can also cause dry mouth as a side effect. Many people on long-term narcotic pain management end up with severe dental issues and a lot have lost all their teeth and required de...

I have been in Pain management since 2004 in California and just Moved out there to muskogee Oklahoma... unfortunately there are NO doctors here willing to treat my pain i was on a regiment of 80mg Oxycontin 2X daily 10/325mg Norcos every 4 hours and 4mg IV dilaudid as needed for breakthrough pain... i am in search of a doctor out this way who is actualluy willing to perscribe these meds... thanks ## Well, the first question I have is, how are you checking with the doctors about getting help? The reason I am asking is because if you're calling various doctor's offices and asking if they'll treat you and prescribe specific medications, then you will pretty much always get told no. When someone does that, doctor's and their staff are taught to see it as drug seeking behavi...

I am not a big fan of the formula change but find the op oxycontin to still work on my chronic pain. The main thing I notice is Ill get only 8 hours of relief where the older formula had lasted longer and stronger. This new formula also takes 45 minutes to get going even on empty stomach. but it does work on the pain once it kicks in. im waiting now as i just took my oxycontin about 14 minutes ago and beginning to lose my vision(thats the first sign for me is i get tunnel vision and itching) but just saying, i was on oc formula 12 years and been on this formula 2 months so i dont like it alot but as im getting used to the pills and how they work best, etc, ive learned to still prefer oxycodone over dilaudid for my pain...period. dilaudid is weird, it takes a while to come on and makes me...

I have not had good experiences with pain management clinic and do not want to go to a methodone clinic. plz let me know a primary care doctor that will help me! ## Hello, Alice! How are you? I'm sorry, but a PCP can no longer write such prescriptions, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. If you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of chronic pain, you'll have to see a pain management specialist. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Or you could look into trying a different medication, altogether.

My father was a chronic pain patient with a spinal tumor who was moved off of Oxycontin and Dilaudid to methadone. Unfortunately, after a long, log battle, he became completely paralyzed and the tumor was in the process of killing him. He asked to be terminally sedated. The doctors put him on a morphine drip, but even after they quadrupled his dose, he was still in pain and awake. Eventually, they got to 4000mg a DAY of IV morphine, and it was ineffective. We did our research, and it showed there is NO conversion rate for methadone to morphine equivalents as there is with every other opioid. In other words, just to duplicate the 30-40mg a day of morphine he was taking would have required anywhere from 240-3000mgs of morphine - forget actually sedating him. They went to something like 40...
