Hi, Ive been taking this medication called Hydrocodone for about 3 years. For those 3 years, its been working very well but lately, it's not as good. Im not sure whether it's because Ive become prone to the medicine or because my pain has gotten worse, but either way, my doctor has now given me a prescription for new medication and this one is called Dilaudid 4 mg. What Id like to know is, what medicine is stronger or better? I have not taken Dilaudid yet so I'd like to know beforehand, thank you ## Hello, Hassan! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. The Dilaudid is stronger than the Hydrocodone. You only need 2.5mgs of Dilaudid to be equivalent to each 10mgs of Hydrocodone. What does a 20 mg dilaudid look like and is it like doing 5 4mg because I have never heard of these ## Hello, Cbaby! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have always got the yellow 4mg Dilaudids and they worked great. This month I got white ones (4mg) that are manufactured by Mallinckrodt. They don't work at all. I need to take two to even get any relief and it is not much. What is the difference between the two? ## @iceangel, Usually when you receive a tablet that looks different from what you're used to getting, it's often the result of differences in the list of inactive ingredients; even if the dosage remains the same. If you happen to know the imprint on both tablets I can post a list of binders/fillers used in each one for a closer look at what makes them different aside from the apparent yellow dye. From what I've been led to believe, certain types of fillers can't actually be metabolized by our bodies and be...

My doc won't give me dillys more than 3x a day because he is scared I will get addicted but I take these pills and the pain gets even worse, what am I to do, he told me I'm at a deadend in pain management with him because that's the most he can prescribe, but when I tell him it makes the pain worse he looks at me like I'm crazy but its true it makes it worse.. Can I cut/ break this pill in half, or is it time release? I do not generally take painkillers but my sister gave me one since I am unable to move my neck. ## Cut it in half with a sharp knife. Youll get 2mg of Dilaudid. You would be much better off taking the whole pill. ## Would 4 mg be too strong? I used to take Vicodin and have a high tolerance to it. I have taken a small dose of roxy in the past and it was too potent for me. I didn't want to repeat it with this dilaudid. ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, it is a very potent narcotic, so if you aren't used to taking it, there can be a danger of overdose if you start off with 4mgs. You really shouldn't take it, at all, without a doctors approval. However no, this tablet is not time released, it is ...

I have 4 mg of dilaudid but in on about 170mg of methadone, I recently feel and sprained my elbow and was wondering if this will take away the pain, or will I be taking it for no reason ## Hi Joanna from RI, because u r on such a high dose of methadone, taking the 4mg of Dilaudid will probably defeat the purpose. I wouldn't recommend taking the Dilaudid. You probably wouldn't get any effect from it anyway. But, I wouldn't mix the 2. I'm sorry 2 hear about your pain, I suffer everyday with pain. But, I'm on suboxone. Use 2 b on methadone, which helped much more with pain. But, I switched 2 suboxone. What a dumb move I made. I'm also from RI. I am allergic to Vicodin and Percocet so for my last 2 surgical procedures have been prescribed 4mg oral Dilaudid. I understand that it is a very powerful pain reliever but I get minimal relief from it so is it possible that my pain receptors are not responsive to this type of medication? The only other pain med that I take is Lodine (NSAID) for arthritis. It seems that I get more pain relieve from 2 Tylenol but am still in alot of pain with that. Both times after surgery I have stopped taking the Dilaudid after 3 days because I'm still in pain and on top of that constipated.
