CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO KEEP THE PATCH FROM COMING OFF AFTER SECOND DAY ? I SHOWER A COUPLE TIMES A DAY AND ON THE SECOND DAY THE PATCH WON'T STAY ON.THEN YOU USE MORE THAN WHAT IS PERSCRIBED AND YOU RUN OUT OF PATCHES AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T PAY FOR ANY MORE THAN PERSCRIBED, THEN COMES WITHDRAWAL? ## The information I received with my patches indicate that the patch should not get wet. I have the same problem. In reading other post, there is a clear cover that can be obtained to protect the patch from water. I have not researched for any sourses, but will soon. I will contact you again if I find a resonable sourse, unless I see another post answers your question. This drug scares me, I have expereniced the DT's with much weaker drugs, and I would not wish that 10 ...

I asked my doctor the same question yesterday, she said "no", because once it hits the air, the strength starts to dissipate, or weaken. So she put me on the lowest dose, as I hope to get off them and all meds eventually. ## No, you can't cut it in half and the reason for it is because it is time released and cutting the patch could cause you to get too much of the medication at once, which may result in a dangerous overdose. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Are there any other questions or comments? ## What about the new style without the gel. You know like the nicotine patches Can you cut those ones half? and just cut your dose.. thanks.. The 25 mcg patch that I am on isn't taking my pain away. would it be safe to double up intil I go see my doctor next week? ## I am on the fentanyl 25mcg patch and I am still in pain. can I safely double up until I see my doctor? ## God no. Call your doctor now ## Take it from me if you double up on the fentyln patch without letting them take you up they will say you did it by yourself and let you go.I went to my pain ct. today and where I have been on the run from late last month I was in so much pain I had to take a few extra perocet which was a generic with ipo with a slash in the middle of it and it was not controlling my pain.I was doing back to back drs. appts plus doing mammagram where I have cancer in my lung breast and have lung cancer plus two failed back surgeries and beca...

How is your dad doing? Yes, 72 hours is the normal dosing duration, though if necessary it can be changed every 48 hours. They can also raise the dosage, if necessary. People are talking on a site about sucking on F patches.if I lose one in the shower its no longer good after being wet.how can the patch b wet and then used effectively? ## Well, that is the fact of relevance here, they aren't using them appropriately and effectively. Sucking on them is abusing them, they are trying to get all of the narcotic out to get high, rather than using it as designed by letting it slowly release to alleviate their pain. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been on 20mcg of Butrans patches for about 4 months now and there not helping with my pai...

Can I just stop taking fentanyl patch 25? ## No you risk suffering from opiate withdrawal if you have been on the medication for any length of time say for more than a few months. Opiate withdrawal is extremely painful and very unnecessary especially if you have a legitimate prescription for it. ## That is correct, while it may seem small, since the dosage is only 25mcgs, Fentanyl is actually a very potent narcotic. It is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Therefore, if you have been taking it for awhile and want to stop using it, you should seek medical assistance for the best way to taper off, while minimizing the withdrawal and rebound effects. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Of of 25 is minuscule I'm on 150!,... ## Ahhh...ok,here's my situation...I ...

I have been on Fentanyl patches for six years increasing dosages every couple years getting to 100mcg/hr q48. For the past three months I am sick, sleeping for 14 hrs at a time, with increased pain in my feet and legs on the second day. The first day on a new patch I feel exceptionally well with diminished pain. Is there a life issue with patches? Do others have this to happen to them? ## There have been other people with similar complaints about some of the patches. They are supposed to be time released for 72 hours, but many people have to change them sooner to maintain adequate levels of pain relief. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Please let me know the gel brands for fent 25 patches. I always used PAR and now I guess they are obsolete. I'm in northern virginia and I hate the foil backed ones as they are like gum when they get wet and then a ball of gook. I could handle the little tiny ones that are non gel but I they too aren't very sticky once they get wet. The gel ones, I can take off when I shower and stick them back on their plastic and re-stick. I wear them on my hip wear my underwear elastic is and worse case scenerio, I put a bandaid over it if the sticky isn't very sticky. Thank you for any names of gel 25's that I can ask my pharmacy to order without sounding like I'm desperate lol ## Two pharmacies near Woodbridge VA, attempted to order the PAR brand and came back to say they couldn...

I am currently wearing the Fentanyl 25 patch. I have had some (4) bad experiences this month alone. Exerting myself - gardening, carrying groceries, lifting anything; I become short of breath, extremely rapid heart rate and my legs and upper body become very weak. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this. I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. To be fair, I had awful leg weakness before I started taking or using anything. I don't know what to do. I took an OxyContin (30) mg and had an even worse experience than mentioned above. (Shortness of breath & rapid heart beat went on longer). I have ruptured disks and extreme leg pain that's why I started pain med. I hope someone can help me. ## Hello, KathyB! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the experien...

I found a fentanyl patch in the closet that's probably 3 months old , it wasnt ever used but it's out of its packaging . Can I still use it ? ## Hello Hunter, Yes like all medications they have an expiration date. I'm looking right now at some old 100mcg/hr for 72 hours that I use to use. I got them from the pharmacy about 6 months ago and their expiration date is Aug. 2016 So that would be about a 1 year and 8 months expiration since it was dispensed. As long as the backing hasn't been removed it should be OK and stick to the skin. Be sure to apply it where you have the most fat tissue for best absorption. DO NOT try and ingest any part of the patch's active ingredient. It can cause an overdose! The total amount of Fentanyl in the 100mcg/hr patch is 11mg total and t...

hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. what is the difference between liquid and jelly types ## I'am on 75 mcg of fentanyl patch jelly form. I found when i used the other fentanyl patches with the glue all over them i would break out from the glue. So what is the difference between the patches and do they work as well. I was told to use a steroid nasal spray under the patch before applying it, but everyone i've asked has never heard of using the spray before applying patch. So i've decided to just stay with the jelly form. Has anyone else had this problem and do the patches work the same jelly patches versus the ones with glue all over them. I was on 180 mg of ms contin after tapering down from 300mg for 16 yrs. I wanted to try fentanyl patches so my Dr gave me 75 mcg patch. Wow I had absolutely no pain .....but after 55-60 hrs I would wake up sweats flip popping all over totally withdrawals then I talked to a friend, she's on 50 mcg. I'm back to ms contin 120 mg ready to taper to 90 mg but it doesn't help the pain. So the pharmacist said since I also felt anxiety, depression the two weeks I tried the patch he said that maybe it was too high of a dose. Anyway my friend said she's on 50 mcg which is what I would go on and she had same thing for about 3 weeks. My ins will pay for 15 patches for 30 days so why can't I just change them every 2 1/2 days so that doesn't happen or will my percocet 10's ...

I have been using Fentanyl Patch for over a year now. I am up to 75 mcgs a day. I have been using Tegaderm over the patches to keep them off. They work very well. I have been using those almost as long as I have been on the patch. About 1 1/2-2 months ago, I started experiencing burns on my skin where the patch is. My mom calls them "chemical burns." It's hard to have the patches on as they itch so much and when I take them off, my skin is very red and then gets very scaly and starts to peel off (while still being very itchy.) I've not had a problem at all before this, and I have not brought it up to my doctor yet. Is it "wetness" that is doing this? Is it getting too hot underneath the patch because of the Tegaderm? That is just my guess. Or maybe my chest has ...

Does anyone know if/when sandoz fentanyl patches will become available again? ## No, I'm sorry, I don't have any information on any current problems. Have you tried asking your pharmacy? They'd have access to the most current information on any availability problems, since they are alerted immediately by the FDA and the information we have is generally delayed, since this site does not manufacture, nor dispense any medications. This is a very potent narcotic analgesic and it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. ## I think it is gone I was on it and it worked great the only one left is Watson brand it works almost as good as the sandose and it has the gel in it the other ones do not work try them I think you will like them good luck ...
