is suboxone or methadone better?
hi i'm a 29 yr old male with chron's disease and a very high tolerance to pain relief and i was just wondering if subutex/suboxone was better than the methadone for pain management i have been on 20mg of oxys twice a day for about 6 months and they only work when i double dose or boot em up and now the doctors are talkin about putting me on the beup or methadone program and i'm not sure which one has more merit if ya know what i mean lol ## The Buprenorphine in the Suboxone is stronger and doesn't have the same addictive tendencies that the Methadone does. People who no longer need it for pain, or addiction treatment, often have better luck tapering off and becoming medication free, as compared to Methadone, where they often require a lifetime maintenance dose. The withd... ...

Suboxone and Oxycodone Rx
Hello, I have been taking Suboxone for approximately 3 weeks. I was taking opiates, legally, for four+ years but recently I had problems after surgery by increasing my dosages and eventually running out quite often which lead all my doctors to a rehab place. I went through 3 weeks of Intensive Outpatient Treatment which was complete crap but it kept me busy during the morning. I now have an Rx from my PCP who KNOWS about me being on Suboxone and said to stop the Suboxone for a couple/few days and then start the Oxy's. Here's my question: Can I fill the Rx for OxyIR when I'm going to be picking up my most recent Rx of Suboxone tomorrow? I feel like the pharmacy might be thinking it's Doctor Shopping but if they call my PCP, he knows about the Suboxone use. He desperately ... ...

suboxone/hydrocodone equivocal
Hi,Ive recently began suboxone treatment @ (8mg/2mg) twice daily, today is my 3rd day. My question is straightforward, how many mgs of suboxone is "considered" closely equal to only 80 mg of hydrocodone? Am simply trying very hard to get my dose correct, seems doctor overmedicated me during induction. I would greatly appreciate any feedback, thanks & best wishes to everyone. ## Hello, Staci! How are you? There really is no direct conversion, but the rough one that's usually used is 1.2mgs of the Buprenorphine to each 30mgs of Hydrocodone, but the person's overall tolerance to narcotics must be factored in, along with the fact that the Suboxone is dosed once a day, where the other was taken several times a day. So, that's probably why you were given the 8/2 dosage. Ha... ...

clonazepam 0 5 with suboxone 8 mil
Can you take these 2 together to sleep with out the withdraw feeling I am trying to get over. ## Hello, Brook! How are you? Yes, they can be taken together, as long as your doctor has approved it. The Naloxone in the Suboxone only neutralizes opiates. They both carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi I'm Kris I'm new in the neighborhood! I wanted to ask can you have withdrawals from xanx? ...

Dismissed from suboxone program
I don't see why it would be a big deal if I had taken subs with another doctor, I can't imagine I'm the only one that has relapsed and been dismissed before. This time I truly feel like I'm ready to quit and move on with my life. Does anyone know If i should disclose the suboxone treatment I had a few months ago??? I don't want to get kicked out of this office for not telling them the truth, but if they have no way of knowing what kind of treatment I've had in the past I would rather them not know. What should I do??? Is there a paper trail they can look at, or can my insurance blow the whistle on me? ## What is the point of wasting other people's time if your not ready to get honest. If your not being honest, your not ready, so stay home and keep playing gam... ...

Dismissed from suboxone program
Hello all, I need some advice. I was kicked out of my first program 4 months ago. I'm ready to get back on the subs again, but I'm not sure if I need to tell my new doctor that I have taken them before. I live in Colorado and I'm not sure if they will ask if I've ever taken suboxone before or if I'm in some sort of data base. Should I just tell him the truth that I relapsed my first time, or should i just keep it to myself? ## Yes, you are in a database! All narcotic prescriptions are logged and reported to the federal government, a simple search will allow them to pull up your name and information very quickly. So yes you do have to tell them, otherwise you will end up dismissed from another program. Just be honest and tell them exactly what happened. Please post ba... ...

does suboxone help with body pains?
My friend has been clean for like 9 days now and her doctor prescribed her suboxone after she said her body hurt? Is that the reason? Cause I would love to know... ## Suboxone is prescribed for pain in other countries but here in the states as far as I know it,s only prescribed to treat opiate addiction. The pain your friend is feeling could be from withdrawal. Maybe your friend has other pain issues and also has a pain pill problem and the patient and doctor decided to start suboxone treatment. I,m taking sub for addiction but also have pain issues. the subs help for both problems. Some folks say that subs don,t help there pain at all. I can only say what works for me. ## Dear Kayla, as Jolter said," the pain could b due 2 withdrawals". I'm on suboxone and I suffer from man... ...

multple miscarriages on suboxone
33 year old female with first 4 pregnancys healthy babies..then put on suboxone and have had 5 is not very educated and would not put me on subutex...anybody else heard of naloxone causing multiple miscarriage? ## Hello, Roxanne! Sorry about the miscarriages, that's so sad. Neither the Buprenorphine or the Naloxone in Suboxone have been shown to cause harm to the fetus, but they haven't been shown to be safe, either. Learn more Suboxone details here. From what I'm reading the only reason a pregnant women is usually switch to Subutex is to just lessen the possible risks, if any, by only exposing the baby to one medication, rather than 2. Have you considered seeing a different doctor? If this one isn't helping and you've had 5 miscarriages while t... ...

Suboxone From Nurse Practitioner
I started taking Suboxone two years ago and it has been a very positive experience, I'm off the hydrocodone, tapering off Suboxone successfully, and it also saved my marriage. My husband and I recently moved to a different state, so I had to leave my very wonderful Suboxone doctor (an addiction specialist for 30 years). The Suboxone doctor I found in our new state has both a PA (Physician's Assistant) and a Nurse Practitioner who see patients. When I made my first appointment, I was surprised that it was with the PA and not the doctor. I was even more surprised to see the PA for my next 3 appointments, but the big shock came when I began seeing the Nurse Practitioner! In nine months, I saw the PA 4 times and the NP 5 times. I HAVE NEVER EVEN MET THE DOCTOR. When I scheduled thes... ...

Suboxone And Fentyal Patch
I have chronic back pain from a sports injury several years ago. Since the suboxone tablets are being discontinued and my doctor cannot subscribe the medication for pain management any longer, he wants me to switch to fentanyl patches. My doctor is also unable to subscribe suboxone film which is replacing the tablets. How do you switch from suboxone to fentanyl patches, when suboxone blocks all opiates? Do you just stop one medication then start another one? Do you have to get off suboxone then start taking fentanyl? ## Yes, the Naloxone in the Suboxone can neutralize other opiates, so you'd have to stop taking it for several days, then start the new medication. Learn more Fentanyl details here. What type of doctor are you seeing? ...

Methadone verses Suboxone
Hello, everyone! I've heard stories about how some people stay on methadone 4 many years 2 life. Does anyone know if this is true? I've been on subs 4 almost 8 years. And, i was addicted 2 Oxy. (Heavy duty). I m just so scared if I got off that I would b back at a pain management addicted, again. Due 2 my severe pain from many medical problems. And, I DONT ever want 2 b in that situation, again! I'm sure a lot of u people understand that. Thanks 4 you're input. ## P.S. I lost my train of thought a bit, there. Meant 2 ask if anyone has heard of being on suboxone for years or life? ## My sub doctor said that I might have to stay on suboxone for life. I disagree with him. Suboxone is solely used for getting off of opiates, and other reasons. That way you won't go throug... ...

Bunavail or Suboxone can your Pain managment doc prescribe it
This new drug for opiod dependence sounds better than suboxone. What type of Doctor can prescribe this, and when this is prescribed I imagine you can't get it if you are on pain medication already. Would a doctor prescribe both if you want to wein off of your meds?? Both your pain meds and bunavail, or suboxone?? Just Curious. ## Hi Taryn, From what I understand, Bunavail contains the same active ingredients as Suboxone (Buprenorphine + Naloxone), so it's probably going to be treated in the same manner - being a Schedule III controlled substance. Apparently it was just approved by the FDA this past Friday (June 6th), and is supposed to reach pharmacies come October 2014. That would probably be the best time to ask your P.M. doctor or clinic about prescribing it. I don't know... ...

side effect suboxone swelling feet
Has anyone out there had their feet swell? Also my knees hurt, its almost like I'm having an elergiec reaction to this. ## Actually, those aren't the signs of an allergic reaction, that would be symptoms such as hives, trouble breathing, swelling of the mouth, nose and throat. However, the edema that you're experiencing has been reported in people that are hypersensitive to Suboxone. So, it may not be the right medication for you to take, or you may beed to lower the dosage. Learn more Suboxone details here. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? ...

find a doctor that prescribes methadone Myrtle Beach
I'm wondering if there are doctors available in Myrtle Beach, SC that can treat patients on a month to month schedule with methadone. I currently go to a clinic daily and am finding the fuel for transportation harder to come by everyday. I would like to see a doctor that can write prescriptions for methadone to avoid this. Thank you ## HI, Bobby! How are you? I'm sorry, but no there isn't a doctor that can do this. Regular doctors can only prescribe it for pain. To use it for addiction treatment, you have to go to one of the clinics and see those that are specially trained to treat with it. Unfortunately, that is the way the laws currently stand in the U.S. What you might want to do instead is contact a doctor in your area that treats with Suboxone to see if they have any op... ...

round orange suboxone an 415
i have a round orange pill with AN on the top and 415 underneath, I'm pretty sure its a generic suboxone but how do I take it? do I swallow it or let it dissolve under my tongue? ## Hi Teresa, Just to confirm, the round orange pill in description is in fact a generic Suboxone tablet; containing 8mgs of Buprenorphine + 2mgs of Naloxone. Manufacturer: Amneal Pharmaceuticals As far as proper dosing goes, the guidelines state that sublingual tablets should be placed under the tongue until it is completely dissolved. Apparently, swallowing the tablets can reduce the bioavailability of the drug itself. However, you may want to discuss this more with your doctor first, since dosing instructions can be somewhat patient specific, depending on the case. You can learn more about this drug on t... ...
