I have Lupus, joint pain, chronic back pain I've just moved to the area and have been being treated prior by a pain management specialist who has me on 15 MG Oxycontin time release and 7.5 MG Percot for break through pain. I need to continue my meds for pain , however with all I've been reading about this area and Texas, (of which I love ), it seems no doctors are prescribing? I need help to find a great pain doctor like I had in my previous state. Can anyone help? No I'm not a drug seeker, just a Lupus patient in pain....I do not misuse any medication or do any illegal types of drugs. Thank You in andvance. ## There were a lot of pill mills in Houston that were shut down, yes. And while I don't know a specific doctor to recommend you, I've become familiar with the c...

Just moved need pain mgmt. doctor who takes cash and walkins ## Hello, NewHere! How are you? I'm sorry, but due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you're not going to find a walk-in pain management clinic, anymore. They are strictly monitored by the government, now. Most will even balk if you're paying cash, because it makes it easier for someone to doctor and pharmacy hop. The easiest way to find the help you need would be to set yourself up with a PCP and then have them refer you to someone. Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?

I need a pain doctor in Houston that will treat me as my last doctor did. I was prescribed up to 8 transformation a day as well as 3600mg nuerontin with 2 5omg finnigan (so) a day. Can you help me with this, I Have No insurance so really cannot afford the doctor referral process. ## Hello, Liddybit! How are you? Unfortunately, there is no way to know if any given doctor is going to continue your existing treatment protocol, or not. The only thing you can really do is set up an appointment with one and then see what they offer for treatment, but make sure they receive a full copy of your current medical records. And while I know it's expensive, getting a referral is most likely the only way you're going to be able to get in somewhere to get the help you need. Can anyone suggest a...

I have been on Hydrocodone for 12 yrs.now and it just isn't strong enough to kill the pain any more. My pain management doctor does not have the credentials to even prescribe a schedule III, such as Oxycodone or Morphine. I have a fractured tailbone that never healed properly and experience severe muscle and nerve pain in the lower back shooting down my leg every day. I only want to be able to function. It is a fight just to get out of bed. If any one knows of a pain clinic or dr. that can help in Houston, TX who accepts new patients and cash (no insurance) please email me xxxxx@xxx {edited for privacy}. Thank you ## Are you seeing a nurse practitioner or physicians assistant then? Any registered doctor that has their license can prescribe them. Learn more pain management details he...

Hello, I live in the Houston area. I suffer constant back pain due to Scheuermann's Kyphosis and arthritis. I was prescribed Norco 10/325 for about 2 years and it just was not effective enough to control the pain. Just getting out of bed or performing daily tasks is a struggle. I don't have insurance but can procure a copy of my x-rays and MRI. I really need to find an affordable doctor who will be willing to allow me to try stronger meds such as oxycodone (which don't contain dangerous additives like acetaminophen as well). I am looking for information here to hopefully save time and money in my search. Any useful information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. ## Hello, Rocky! How are you? I am very sorry that you're in pain. However, the issue here is that due to...

Pain clinics with same day appointments in Houston Texas? ## Hello, Jartan555! How are you? Such clinics/doctors no longer exist. There was far too much over prescribing and improper prescribing. Now, in order to be treated for pain on a long-term ongoing basis, one must see a pain management specialist. If you are in pain and require short-term relief, until you can do so, a nearby ER would be your best bet. Is there anything else I can help with? ## you ever find one in Houston? I know this post is a bit dated but it couldn't hurt to ask ## Yes someone please help because I have been given no other choice but to look for these so called pill mills because ive been flagged. I have lupus spina bifida. I've had a neck surgery recently and I've also moved out of houston and to...

CAme here from florida got pain killers for my leg need to find a doctor here who isnt paranoid of a dea shutdown ## Hi, Matt! How are you? Unfortunately, they all have to be paranoid about that. New regulations were put into effect this year and any doctor that doesn't abide by them risks losing his license to practice medicine. Your best bet would be to establish a relationship in your new location, with a PCP, then have them refer you to a pain management specialist. Do you have a PCP, yet? ## Matt, did you ever find one? I am in Beaumont, and I too need to find a doc not afraid of narcotics. Moved here from Austin, and have a hard time finding a good doctor of nearly any kind.

need to find a Doctor that will prescibe oxycodone / I recently got an MRI but can not afford the surgery right now / have been precribed Norco but after 6 years I have built a tolerance and they are no longer effective ## Hi Silver, In regards to finding a local pain doctor, I have listed below a couple websites specific to locating pain management doctors in a given area. All you have to do is input your city or zip code for narrowed results: {link removed because site no longer exists} You can give this other page a try too if you come up with different results for some reason or another: wellness.com/find/pain%20management%20specialist Many of the results you find (in one or both of the links above) also list a phone number for that specific doctor; I'd consider calling up a num...

Hi everyone, I'm gonna make this short and sweet. I had lower back issues, then I had surgery and now the pain is worse. I need a MD/PA that will help me with pain and prescribe Norco, Xanax, and Soma. If you know any in Houston and surrounding areas, please respond. ## Those are 3 drugs which are very hard to obtain. Why not look into a pain clinic in the area? ## That's where the long story comes in. I have been to 3 pain management specialist. All required physical therapy, epidural corticosteroid injection, facet injections and two of the the 3 required rhizotomy. Not to mention all the x -rays/ MRIs and diagnostics that I have taken so many times. Then you have to wait for the doctors schedule to get relief. Hydrocodone of any form is impossible for me to find and I know I'm not the only person since the law changed. But it has to be somewhere?? Does anyone know a way to get it in Houston? ## Hello, Emily! How are you? If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. A general practice doctor won't be able to prescribe it for you, due to the new regulations that were set forth by the DEA last year. The FDA lists this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly that might be able to refer you to someone? If so, th...

I've been treated for Chronic pain for 7 years or so with Norco 10/325. I've recently transferred to Houston from Western KY and am having a very difficult time finding a pharmacy that has this in Stock? 4th largest city and they do not have this widely used med? Does anyone know of a pharmacy that IS understanding and has this in Stock? I have a prescription but can't find anywhere to get it filled now. ## Helllo, DJ! I am very sorry about the issue you're having finding your medication. Unfortunately, this is something that occurs yearly, and I was just explaining it to someone else with the same problem. The DEA assigns manufacturing limits, each year, for all controlled substances. They did this to help gain better control of the supply of the medications that are mo...

My husband suffers from sciatica and has suffered from it for at least 10 years. He has had 2 major invasive back surgeries to release pressure off of his sciatic nerve.
