Had asthma my whole life, never too bad. Got hives real bad 8 years ago. Xolair is working great for the hives. I have my life back. However, my asthma seems worse. It's hard to tell if it's from the xolair or not. Only side effect I've had is a dislike for alcohol which is fine for me, but it could be another use for this medication. ## As reported by the FDA, there is a chance that it might cause that, though it is very rare. Other more typical side effects may include dizziness, headache, back pain, fever, and hair loss. What medications do you use for the asthma?

I am responding to the person who asked if Fexofenadine would help with chronic hives. I have taken ALLEGRA for about 20 years for Hives. It is the best drug out there! Do not substitute Fexofenadine for Allegra. They do not work the same. Trust me! Try the Allegra! You WON'T be disappointed!!!!! Good luck!!!!!! ## Does the generic instead of name brand really make that much of a difference? Have you experienced depression or vivid/lucid dreams? ## No, Fexofenadine is the active ingredient in Allegra. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, and headache. MMama, are those issues you are having while taking it? Are you on any other medications? These medications have been known to cause such issues as side effects, in some people that...

I have been on Victoza for about 2 weeks now and I have broken out in hives/rash around my mid section. My body itches but I'm not sure if it's related to this or not. Anyone else experience this? ## It would be best to have this symptoms checked out by your doctor, according to FDA reports, there is a chance that it might be an allergic reaction. Have you been exposed to anything else new, such a a different detergent, soap, or perfume? Have you eaten any new foods? Are you on any other medications? ## I have been on Victoza for one month and all of the sudden I have multiple red welts that itch on my abdomen where I've been injecting. ## I took it for 5 years no hives and no other symptoms. Check with your doctor.

I was prescribed Cipro for Bronchitis in the hospital. I took only 4 doses 2 pills twice a day! I broke out with severe Hives and was given Benedryl, Predisone, Pepcid and nothing is helping! I am so itchy and uncomfortable and have been to the ER 3 times. What can I do. It's been 3 days since I stopped taking it and I am suffering so bad!! ## Hello, Chrissy! How are you? I am so sorry about the hives, it's happened to me before, so I know how awful that is. What dose of Benadryl have you been taking? You should check with your doctor first to make sure that it's safe for you, but you can usually take up to 50mgs per dose. And soaking in a warm tub with some epsom salts may also help. But otherwise, it's really just going to take time. ## Hi thanks I have a appointment w...

I started on a form of Wellbutin and often I have hives and excessive itching. Should I continue the Wellbutin? ## Phyllis, I am responding to your message about you taking a form of wellbutin such as Bupropion and having hives as one of your side effects. Some side effects can be serious. If you are experiencing hives contact your doctor immediately. Also, please review the following internet page for further harmful side effects. It will tell you all you need to know about the medication and it's side effects! Good luck ## Yes, pruritis (itching) is a side effect of Wellbutrin. I had very itchy skin, horrible adult acne at 48, and oily greasy skin. I stopped taking Wellbutrin on my own and all of those symptoms were gone with 3 days.

I'm taking losartan 100mg and atorvastatin 80 mg. I also take 45 units of Humalog, 80 units of Levemir, 500 mg metformin, carvedilol once a day, bumetanide and amlodipine 10 mg. I took all this for a long time. I started breaking out with about 200 hives all over my legs and side of my body. Can you please tell me what it could be? I had to quit taking all my medication except my sugar shot and I started adding one pill at a time. As soon as I got to that amlodipine and I took 70 units of my leveremir the next morning I broke out all over, so I quit and just took two 45 unit doses and I was okay. Can someone help me please? Thank you. ## Hi Tony, Sorry to hear about your situation. Because you're taking so many medications it may be challenging to determine exactly which ones ar...

Does Fexofenadine contain gluten? I have been suffering with chronic hives and none of my med seem to help. Can anyone help? ## Fexofenadine is exactly that, nothing else, what you need to look at is the other ingredients in the pills, the inactives that are the fillers and binders they use to give the pill significant substance and hold it together in the desire shape and consistency. These 'inactive' ingredients differ, depending on the manufacturer, there are certain standards for what can be used, however, there are many options and the various generic med manufacturers do not all have to use the same ones. That said, with the little information your provided, I cannot tell you what is in those inactive ingredients, as listing is usually available under the professional pres...

I had severe hives (urticaria) and monsteresque face swelling (angiodema). Nothing helped. I tried 6 doctors. The seventh put me on 10 mg of Doxepin. Cured! I work hard on keeping the weight off. Have gained some on this drug but what is the alternative? ## Hello, Darla! How are you? That can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and dry mouth. As to your other options, that depends on what else you've tried? Can you please post back with more details? ## Basically I have only tried Zyrtec. Every doctor prescribed it. The bottle says one every 24 hours if I remember correctly. But docs told me up to 7 per day and some said unlimited. Yet it didn't touch my hives/angeodema. Have gained 20 pound. Essential...

Can a white oval 853 give you hives? ## Hello, Sparky! How are you? Any medication can cause hives, if you're allergic to it, so yes, it is possible. This tablet contains 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen and you may be allergic to one of those active ingredients. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you taken anything for the hives? Did you discuss the problem with your doctor?

I've been taking xanax for many years now, but i recently got these blue ones with a 605 on them...and now i'm getting awful hives all over my body. Why could this be?? Is it because of a different filler in the pill? Because i know im not allergic to alprazolam itself. So what could this be? ## It sounds to me like you may be experiencing an allergic reaction to one or more inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) in the tablet. When you switch brand names or manufacturers the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. This means you're probably taking in certain ingredients such as corn starch, lactose, or some other filler that your body isn't agreeing with. Listed below are the Inactive Ingredients present in the blue alpra...

I been having hives on and off for the past two months. I just don't know the cause of it. I had taken all types of allergy pills and nothing helps. The only ones that had worked for me are the prednisone, but my doctor can't prescribed me that as a medication. He had only given me two refills of 5 pills and I only save them for when I get the hives really bad, like when I get them on my eyes and lips or on my hands, that makes me go crazy. They hurt so bad and itch when they keep getting bigger. What else can I take that will help the swollen and itchy redness go away? ## Hello, Nylah! How are you? That does sound like you could be experiencing an allergic reaction to something, and yes, it is possible that it could be the Hydrocodone, according to the FDA. Rather than trying t...

Hi. I finished a 6 day cycle for poison ivy. The pi is drying up, however I now have hives all along my hip and an itchy rash across abdomen. Could this be a reaction from the meds? At first I thought it was more PI coming out-but looks more like hives and it had been almost 2 weeks since exposure. Thanks. ## Hives can be symptoms of an allergic reaction, as reported by the FDA. Other symptoms may include swollen glands, trouble breathing, and throat/facial swelling. It would be a good idea to inform your doctor to have this checked out, because if you are allergic, you will need to avoid this medication in the future, because such allergic reactions tend to worsen with repeated exposure, there are several NIH articles that you can read that discuss this. Is there anything else I can he...

I have had chronic hives for 10+ years. I've taken Prednisone, Benedryl, Zantac, Zyrtec & Several other medications to lesson the effects of this awful curse. Finally decided to try Xoliar 4 days ago. At first my hives were SOOOO much worse! Probably the worst they have been in a year. Then all of the sudden I woke up give free! No medications for 2 days. I know it's not a very long trial period but I want to shout from the rooftops!!! Someone who has this would know the overwhelming feeling to just not take these medications for 1 day & Xolair did it for me. You just have no idea how happy I am!! ## Hello, Madison! How are you? I've been taking Tramadol (Ultram) for 4 months for an ankle injury. I only take it as needed, which is no more than 2x's a day. 3 weeks ago I started developing hives that would come and go. My skin would itch, increasing in severity at night. I couldn't stand it so I went to the minor care office (5 x's ! ) I was put on 3 rounds of Prednisone and the hives disappeared each time only to reappear when the Prednisone ended. The doctor did blood work and did a biopsy. The blood work came back fine, showing I had a drug allergy. After stopping all my meds and reintroducing them (one at a time) it became very clear it was the Tramadol! The rash is better since stopping the Tramado, but my question is (Finally), how long can I expect it to take for this drug to clear my syste...
