Hiccup

My husband has been taking this med for a virus. He will eat something small before taking b/c it upset his stomach. Shortly after taking he will get hiccups that will last for awhile. Can this med cause this and should he keep taking? ## First of all, Cephalexin is an antibiotic, so it is only effective against infections, it will not do anything for a virus, since it's not an antiviral medication. Did his doctor prescribe this? That is why antibiotics cannot be used to treat cold or the flu, because they are caused by viruses, not bacterial infections. Using them inappropriately causes the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. As to the hiccups, it is probably because they can cause some gas in some people, if he is taken it with small amounts of food and gulping a flu...

I am getting hiccups continuously from the morning around 3am till now.. Can I use the omee-d tablet..It's a bit urgent... Any response would be helpful..thank u. ## Hello, Hari! How are you? This medication is used to help treat excess acidity and to facilitate gastric emptying, so it will not likely help with such an issue. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. Hiccups are usually caused by spasms of the diaphragm and they are most often caused by swallowing a lot of air, while eating or drinking, though there are other causes, as well. Do you often eat hurriedly? Or gulp your drinks? If so, that could explain the problem. ## Hello. I'm suffering from hiccups. Can I use omee tablets for relief? ## You ...

Does Jevity 1.5 cause constipation and excessive gas and hiccups? ## Good question I was wondering the same thing! My mother has been on Jevity 1.2 cal through a feeding tube for about 7 days now and she has not had a bowel movement. She is not eating much of anything else and we have increased the water we put in the tube but she still has not gone. She has dementia and doesn't always know if something is bothering her or not. I am hoping a little Sennekot will do the trick! Does anybody really know this answer? ## My sister is on Jevity 1.2 has has problems with constipation. Miralax powder has helped her greatly. It use to be a prescription but can now be found over the counter. It is available at Costco and retail pharmacy's. Hope this helps! :) ## Yes, the FDA does warn tha...

My husband was prescribed this med after telling his oncologist that he felt like he had something in his throat that was making it hard to swallow. For the last 3 days now he has had constant hiccups. I mean constant(even while sleeping). He's about at the end of his rope. I suggested that he take a dose of the "magic mouthwash". The hiccups stopped for about 15 minutes and then came back. That 15 minutes has been his only relief for 3 days. He had chemo this week as well. I don't know if any of this is related but we HAVE to get these hiccups to stop. ## Hello, Vicki! How is your husband doing? What all medications does he take? The hiccups could be related to one of them. Are Hydrocortisone and Nystatin the only ingredients listed for the magic mouthwash? Its typical ...

I was switched to backlafen from soma's, what are the difference an what are the ingredients? ## They look just like a Soma. I wouldn't like them? Baclofen can also be used to treat hiccups.[3] ## Hello, Lucy! How are you? Baclofen is the active ingredient, so what you've received is a generic. It is also classified by the FDA as a muscle relaxant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. The scheduling of Soma was recently changed, since it is commonly abused, so many doctors no longer want to prescribe it and are swathing their patients to alternatives. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been changed out the same. They are higher on my co pay than somas. They do not work at all. My husbands doctor still wrights...

I have not been able to find a medicine that helps with what my doctor thinks is Gerd. The last medicine was protonix and within 21/2 weeks I am having side effects. Ankles are spasming as well as hands however I have spondilosis. I have never had spasms in these areas until protonix and I still have food that gets stuck and continuous hiccups. My doctor put me on 400 mgs of magnesium. Any answers or opinions? ## Hello, JLM! How are you doing? It isn't actually that food gets stuck, though it does feel like it. It's esophageal erosion and irritation there. Sometimes you swallow something that irritates it and gets it acting up, so it feels like there is a lump there, but there actually isn't. And yes, that is a sign of GERD. What other medications have you tried? I had many ...
