Hi, I have been taking Miralax for 4 years and never had a stomach problem. I eat the same thing pretty much everyday because I am a diabetic, and have not taken any new meds. The last few days though immediately after taking 2 tsp's with 10oz of water as usual, at the usual time in small sips, I got heart burn. Last week I chugged the whole 10oz down as usual and in the pit of my stomach I had very bad cramping, so when I started sipping it down I did not get cramping, but got the bad heartburn. ## It is possible for almost anything to cause heartburn. Other side effects may include nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, according to FDA reports. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications? ## Hi, thanks for the reply. Well, I tried chugging d...

I haven't seen heartburn listed specifically as a side effect, but have been experiencing a lot lately. I have not previously had a problem with this. Also have a lot of tingling in right hand, maybe associated with some disk disintegration that was a problem 15 years ago. ## Hello, Meg! How are you? It has been known to cause various gastro-intestinal issues as side effects, according to the FDA, even ulcers in some rare cases, so heartburn isn't actually surprising. It can also cause some pain and musculoskeletal issues, but it would be best to have that checked out by your doctor to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have had trouble with all of the NSAIDS for years which I previously had taken for my arthritis. I started Duexis in September and have had good relief with only one a day. Recently the heartburn has returned. I am not sure if I should just stop, reduce it to every other day or third day, increase tums. Anyone with similar issues? ## Hello, June! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. You may need a higher dose of the Famotidine that this contains, or you may need to add another medication, such as a PPI like Prilosec. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Duexis as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased risk of bleeding. Have you tried anything else to reduce the heartburn? Do you watch what you eat? Refrain from alcohol and aci...

I have been taking the generic form of fosamax once a week for 3 wks. I have developed intense heartburn and nausea. I was very reluctant to begin this drug and am thinking of stopping. Anyone else have these side effects? ## Those can be normal side effects, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience headache, and joint/muscle aches. Are you on any other medications? Have you been taking it on an empty stomach, or after a meal? Many people have had to stop taking this medication due to severe side effect issues.

After taking doxycycline and not remaining upright for 30 minutes and not drinking or eating enough when taking the pill, I have been experiencing heartburn. I was wondering if anybody knew how long the heartburn would go on for and what I could do to help it. ## Hello, Catherine! How are you? Sorry that you're having this problem, there are very good reasons such warnings are on these medications. What have you tried to treat it so far? Have you consulted your doctor? How often have you done this and how severe is the heartburn? I didn't find any interactions listed between it and Pepcid, which is available over the counter, but you need to check with your doctor to make sure that it's safe for you to take.

my doctor put me on 30 milligrams of adderall a day and its giving me heartburn is that normal ## HI, Carrot! Sorry about the heartburn, I know that can be very miserable. And yes, virtually any medication can cause this, many of them increase the production of stomach acid. It's just something that happens when you're adding a chemical to the body to resolve a problem. Learn more Adderall details here. Have you discussed it with your doctor? There's a good chance that you can take an antacid to help resolve the issue. ## There is some controversy over whether heartburn is caused by too much, or too little, stomach acid. It could be a sensation associated with both cases, too. If you want to evaluate this yourself, try taking a tablespoon of apple cider or balsamic vinegar a...

I have been on this for one week, 25mg X twice a day. A few minutes after taking it last night, I started with uncomfortable heart burn. As of almost 11am today, the heartburn is not any better. Anyone have a similar experience? Also, the sensation in my mouth (almost mint like) is really hard on me. Do these come coated or anything? ## yes i also have heartburn with this medication also awful joint pain and upset stomach ## Is heartburn one of consaze side effect i've been experiencing it but no sure if its because of conzace ## While I have never been able to figure out why, Spironolactone contains mint, which according to NIH studies is very well known to cause heartburn. I've experienced the same issue myself, when I take it. I even spoke to my cardiologist about it, but the...

came in bottle of heartburn medicine from WalMart. 150mgs of Ranitidine. The prior meds I bought were same bottle, etc, however the pills differ and it concerns me a bit - the first pill marked R150 is pink - the L852 pill (second batch I bought) is almost the color of motrin.....I won't take this until I know it is the right medication. ## Yes, it is the same medication, 150mgs of Ranitidine. These are generic/store brand medications and they do not actually manufacture them, but rather have them packaged for them by a company that does manufacture them and this means that which pills are in their bottles can change, depending on who was offering the best prices at the time of contract renewal. They may even use more than one manufacturer. Are there any other questions? ## I questi...

Years ago my doctor gave me a big oval green pill for heartburn. I took it for several months and eventually the heartburn went away and i didn't have it for years. Its come back and i would very much like to find that pill again. Unfortunately, i don't know the name or any numbers on it. Just that it was green, oval and a big tablet. ## Hello, BJ! How are you? I'm sorry, that's not much to go on, so I'm not certain what it might have been. However, there are many good remedies available now, even over the counter to treat such issues. You can find both Pepcid and Zantac over the counter in name brand and generics. Some others available over the counter that also have generics out are Prevacid and Nexium. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and f...

I have recently been prescribed Nefrosave Forte to reduce my creatinine level, which currently stands at 1.3. I have been diabetic for the past 23 years and have cardiac conditions. Since starting this drug, I am experiencing heartburn and uneasiness. Could this be due to a side effect of Nefrosave? Could it also be due to the simultaneous intake of this drug with other medications that are meant to keep my blood pressure, cholesterol, and potassium levels under control? Can you please advise?

Recently my pharmacy began giving me a new version of fluoxetine, which I have taken for MANY years with no problems.... however the blue fluoxetine gives me horrible heart burn. I use to take them at night before bed, but couldn't sleep, so decided to start taking them in the morning and still get the heartburn. I don't take them with any other meds. I tried an empty stomach, and after eating, but the results are still the same. I also get a bad headache (I think from the heartburn.) Has anyone figured out how to avoid this problem? ## Hi Jen, I truly believe that the root cause of this specific heartburn side effect lies within the "inactive" ingredients found in the blue Fluoxetine pill. Reason I say that is because, when you switch brand names or manufacturers, the d...

I've been taking Amoxicillin for a week now and have been experiencing heartburn and burping. Could this be due to the medication? ## Hello, Burning Love! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. And yes, it may be due to the medication. Most medications can cause excess stomach acid. This can sometimes be mitigated by taking it with a small meal or snack, but you should check with your doctor or pharmacist first to make sure that it is okay for you to do so. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My mother, aged 85, has been suffering from severe heartburn for several years. Can I take heartburn remedys with fluxocillin ## Hello, Tracey! How are you? You can, as long as your doctor approves, but you should stay away from anything that contains calcium, aluminum and etc. like Tums or Rolaids, since it can cause you to nor absorb all the antibiotic, which may reduce its efficacy. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Home remedies for heartburn and indegestion? I have heartburn so bad and all stores are closed around me, I need to know some home remedies to help? ## Hello, Daina! How are you? Has it eased up, yet? A common household remedy is baking soda, the instructions for it are usually right on the box, when you buy it. If you get heartburn frequently, you should speak to your doctor about what you can do about it. You may need to take a medication for it, or change your eating habits to avoid triggers. There are some risks that can be associated with letting it continue, such as ulcers or esophageal cancer.
