i have to decrease my heart rate it beats faster and i fail at work becouse of it ## It sounds like you may need something that will just relax your CNS (central nervous system) and calm your body. It is probably best to look into natural remedies first before moving onto anything prescription related as you don't want to have any more side effects other than what you're currently dealing with. Ceedarwood Essential Oil is a natural option that acts as a sedative and tonic for your nervous system and in general helps your body function in an entirely less stressful 'state of mind', for lack of a better term. Ceedarwood Essential Oil could also be very beneficial if you have high-blood pressure. So this can kill two birds with one stone. It has a wide range of other benefi...

Have 46 BPM at rest; now cut 25mg Metoprolo tablet in half to lower dose as prescribed by cardio doc. had ascending aortic aneurysm repair, and aortic valve replaced (bovine) in 2003. What is going on here? I do exercise quite regularly, but 46 kinds of has me concerned, even though I am still able to exercise. Any answers, thanks. ## Well, there is really no way for anyone to say what's going on from just the limited information in your post. There are several issues that could cause this and only your doctor is going to be able to help you get to the root of the problem. The Metoprolol might be working too well and making your heart beat to slowly. I've had that happen with several medications myself. How long have you been on the lowered dosage? Has there been any improvement?

I have been on Multaq one week. I do not have reduced a-fib and my heart rate is still around 80 which is normal for me. My doctor made a point of telling me to get my coumidin checked. I could go too high or too low. ## Are you also post MI with structural damage to the heart and low ejection/fraction? Just wondering what a safe heartrate is for someone with these issues and if a heartrate in the 80's makes the heart work harder. ## Sandra, any elevated heart rate means your heart is working harder, but a level in the 80's is not dangerously high, mine also typically runs that high. Some people just tend to have higher, or lower rates then others. What heart rate does your doctor look for? Jackie, how are you doing on the Multaq, now? Has there been any change? Are you also tak...

I'm not doing anything but resting lately. ## Well, there are various things that could cause it, according to NIH reports, such as being sick, eating, taking in a lot of caffeine, or other medications. Just started on Losartan , previously was on lisinopril that didnt do anything to lower BP. After 3 days on Losartan I noticed my resting heart rate in now 100+… previously was 65 to 70 on any given day.. I was told it could take 2 to 3 weeks for Losartan to fully be in my system to see a change. Will my heart rate get lower once the med takes effect or is something wrong? ## Hello, Dom! How are you? The higher heart rate could be due to stopping the Lisinopril, if you stopped abruptly and switched to the Losartan, it may have caused a rebound effect that can include elevated heart rate and elevated blood pressure. However, it is always best to check with your doctor to be sure. If the Losartan works for you, you should eventually see an improvement in your heart rate. My heart ra...

Hello There, Would appreciate if anyone could please answer my question whether my Mom who is 64 years of age now needs to take Concor 1.25 mg once a day at all please. Truth of the matter is that her heart rate is way too low as a result - it`s only about 40 per /minute and blood pressure is about 100-120/50-60. Cardiologist doesn't seem to believe that heart rate is that low and keeps prescribing it. She was prescribed 2.5 mg per day and had a heart rate of 30 per / minute so had to decrease it to 1.25 mg and now it`s about 40-50. I wonder if she should be taking that particular medication at ALL giving the fact of such a low heart rate. She doesn't feel well which is quite obvious isn't it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks in advance. Best Regards...

After 1 dose of 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide I began experiencing an elevated heart rate (97-121 resting). After my 2nd dose I developed hives. I called the doctor's office on a Friday afternoon, spoke with a nurse, but no one called back. I stopped taking it 2 days ago. My heart rate continues to be in the 100-120 range. How long before this side effect wears off? ## Hello, Sandie! I am sorry about the issues you've experienced. Has there been any change? Do you still have hives? It could take awhile for such symptoms to go away, according to FDA reports. Those can be symptoms of an allergic reaction, which means you may need to try a different medication. Is this the only one you are currently taking?

I wanted to know if anyone on Levothyroxine has this problem. I've been on 50 mcg of Levothyroxine for about two years (went off it for several months this past year but went back on it). Lately it feels like my heart is beating stronger and sometimes it beats somewhat faster. Taking a hot shower triggers rapid pounding heart beat. These symptoms come and go and seem to be helped if I drink a lot of water. It also seems to help if I get to bed at a decent hour and get enough sleep and eat the right foods and enough of them. The slightest amount of everyday stress can make my heart start beating in the way described. I've been sedentary quite a bit and getting exercise (Walking for 20 minutes) can be a challenge since I lack energy. Also I have been feeling anxiety and depression...

I am taking exforge. But BP was still around 145/155 over 60. HR Pulse around 65. Dr put me on 5mg of Bystolic 3 days ago which lowered BP to 125 avg. over 60 but lowered my HR to 52/58 range. I usually go on 2-3 mile but now get breathless when walking or working in the yard. Is this a temporary side effect and should I be concerned. ## Hello, Chuck! How are you? Has there been any change? Yes, if you're experiencing symptoms, you should consult your doctor, you may need to switch to a different medication. Other side effects, as reported by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination.

Does bilocor 5 lower your heart rate ## Yes, it can do so, since it's basic intent is to lessen the work load on the heart to improve heart function and lower blood pressure. The NIH lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How low has it been?

My Dr. told me I can just quit the metoprolol, my heart rate sometimes dips into low 40's for a few seconds at night when sleeping. I was put on this years ago for Anxiety, not for any condition... I take 25 MG of the extended release, how much of a low dose is this and whats its affect on heart rate being a small dose, should I expect bad withdrawal issues? ## Hello, Mickey! How are you doing? It is normal for your heart rate to drop, when sleeping and this medication can also lower it, as a side effect, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and orthostatic hypotension. That's the lowest dose available, most people start at 25mgs and titrate up, when treating heart conditions, or high blood pressure. There sho...

Been on this for a month and heart is still racing at times. Sometimes it's ok, on the slow side, but like tonight it's 105 beats per minute. This happens almost every day at some time during the day. ## What is your normal heart rate? What are you doing that has been causing it to go up, if anything? Have you been smoking, taking in caffeine, or etc? Even if you are on a medication, there are certain times your heart rate will still go up, whether or not it's a problem depends on why it is occurring. If you've been active, it's going to elevate your heart rate, which is actually what you want to occur at such times. If you've been drinking caffeinated coffee, or sodas, it is going to cause your heart rate to elevate.

My heart rate is irregular. On every third beat the sound of pumping increases. Can this medicine control irregular heart rate? ## Has your doctor instructed you to take it? Do you always seem to hear your heart pumping?

Just prescribed Oxycontin op 20 for the first time for chronic lower back pain from two bulging disks that are inflamming S1 and causing severe pain. I've been takng hydrocdone 10-325 for the past 5 years or so along with the injecions. I just took my first dose of Oxycontin op 20 and about 10 -15 minutes after ingesting my heart rate increased tremendously and was pounding through my chest. This lasted about 5 minutes then would return with less severity every 10-15 minutes later for about the next hour. Is this normal? Breathing was ok and I never felt I was going to pass out. Very scary after reading the warning pamplet that came with the script. It did help relieve the pain after the initial side effects but leary on taking anymore. ## Hello, Harley! How are you?
