I just started taking sertaline (zoloft) 8 days ago and i have been experiencing tooth/gum pain i know i need fillings but this just seems different anyone else go through this? ## Do you grind your teeth while sleeping? that can cause tooth and gum pain. maybe it got worse since getting on the drug. other than that, I haven't heard of this as a side effect of zoloft. could be periodontal disease. see a dentist. ## I believe that Martin is on the right track and thank him for his post. SSRIs, such as Sertraline, have been known to cause bruxism, as well as gum disease and bleeding gums. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. I experienced it myself, when I used to take it. Have you spoken to your doctor?...

Hello. I have a decayed wisdom tooth for which I'm being treated with Amox 500mg 3 times per day... This is the second round of ten days worth antibiotics, and it seems as though there is very little change in symptoms.. My shoulder, eyeballs, neck and head hurt so badly, especially when darkness occurs, that ALL I can do is sleep it away... The Amox gives an enhanced pain deep inside my Sinuses and on the top right side of my head... It feels sas though my right eyeball and the top of my head are going to EXPLODE!!!... I can't get it removed until the 23rd of May, and am at my Wit's End!... The infection in the right side of my neck is still causing the Lymph Nodes to swell, and turning my head is painful... I don't want to continue the Amox, because the pain it causes ...

But swelling is not not reduce and its getting more pain, even i cant open my mouth. Pls tell me whatvi do. ## You really need to see a dentist to have the underlying issue that has caused the infection remedied. This is an antibiotic, so it can help with an infection, but as long as the issue that's caused isn't fixed, it will keep returning, or worsening. The U.S. FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. When is the last time you saw a dentist?

I have a tooth infections waiting on my antibiotics but they gave me 800mg Motrin but its not helping at all!! what should I do ????? PLEASE HELP!!! ## Hello, Ashely! How are you? Has it eased off, yet? Motrin isn't very strong, so you may not see much improvement, until a few days, after you start the antibiotics. The FDA classifies it as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.

Hi there im on clindamycin and im on day 2 300 mg 3 times day pain and swelling are still there from my absast tooth. Thank you ## Hello, Alex! How are you? Has there been any change? The general rule with antibiotics is that if they are working for you, you should start to see improvement after taking them for a full 3 days. The FDA lists the typical side effects for this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Can u us a tizanidine R 180 white oval pill for a toothache. ## Hello, Chawny! How are you? I'm sorry about the toothache. No, this is a muscle relaxant, not an analgesic, so it won't do anything to help with toothache pain. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. Have you consulted your dentist? If you have an infection, you're going to need an antibiotic, too.

I'm going in for a root canal in three days. It hurts bad and the only pain killer I have is a couple of diclofenac that my doc gave me for gout. Will diclofenac help alleviate tooth pain? ## It's a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that can be used to treat pain, fever, and swelling, so it may help, but checking with a doctor or dentist would be best. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding, headache, and stomach irritation. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Were you prescribed an antibiotic? Are you on any other medications?

I recently have got this gum pain in the very back of my mouth. Iv researched and everything says my wisdom teeth are coming out. The pain us excruciating I can feel it throbbing and im so hungry but im afraid to chew... if I take Flanax will it help me any? ## Hello, Jules! How are you? Flanax contains Naproxen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it may help. It can also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. However, you do need to see a dentist and have this checked out to be sure what's going on, because if there is actually an infection, this will do nothing to treat it. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I got a tooth pulled out last Friday and they didn't give me any antibiotics, just something for pain which I could not get filled. I've been in pain since then. Is there anything I can take or do to stop the pain and make the swelling go down? ## What did they prescribe that you weren't able to have filled? In many cases, over the counter medications, such as Ibuprofen, or Naproxen can help with the pain and swelling, but you should only take them if it is safe for you to do so. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation, and increased risk of bleeding. ## I was giving Tylenol 3. Can I take both Ibuprofen IB tablets (2) and one Hydrocodone - APAP (5-325mg) tablet for my pain every 6 hours? ## Have you been instructed to take them both? They are sometimes prescribed together to help get better control of severe pain due to such conditions. The FDA warns that Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

I took 2 x 750 mg. Trying to help with the pain until I can get to the dentist. Will this help? ## It’s a muscle relaxant. While it won’t help with the pain, per se, it’ll probably help you feel better, by helping you stop tensing up with the pain. Take ibuprofen with it. You need an anti-inflammatory pain med. ## What Beth stated is correct. Methocarbamol is a muscle relaxant, most commonly used to treat pain and spasms associated with muscle injuries. It works by slowing activity in the nervous system to allow the body to relax. [1] The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Acetaminophen, or Ibuprofen may help, if it is safe for you to take them. Do you have an emergency dentist in your area?

I have extreme wisdom tooth pain. Can a course of flucloxacillin help with this? ## It depends why you're having the pain. If it's due to an infection, then yes, the antibiotic can help. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, if they are impacted, or otherwise growing in wrong the antibiotic will not help. Have you consulted your dentist? Regardless of what the problem is, it will still have to be corrected to prevent it from recurring in the future.

I have been prescribed antibiotics for tooth infections before having dental work and pain went away. I'm allergic to penicillin can i take cefdinir? if I take cefdinir for this and I don't have an infection will it hurt me? ## It is a different antibiotic, but there is always a risk of discovering that you're also allergic to it. People allergic to one medication tend to find out there are others they are allergic to and if you don't have an infection, taking it could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. Thus, you should only take it if your doctor or dentist confirms that you do have an infection. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can hel...

When will the Clindamycin start helping my infection? ## If you have been taking it for more than 24 hours and the infection/swelling has worsened, that most likely means it is not working and you may need to try a different antibiotic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Was this prescribed for you by your doctor, or dentist? I just started takin amox for ear infection and they gave me hydroco 5-325mg but it wont take the pain away I waz wondering can I take ibuprofen. Is that a big nono???? ## Yes, you can take 800mg of Ibuprofen every 8 hours. I wouldnt take any more than that, it can be rough on the stomach. Take with a full stomach of food. I've had severe tooth pain from an abcess, and Ibuprofen worked better than the Tylenol3 with Codeine the dentist gave me. ## I totally agree with Leo. I was prescribed Tylenol 3 with Codeine post surgery, but the Codeine gave me such a bad headache that I ended up taking Advil for pain relief and it worked well for me.

I feel kind of light-headed but in no need of emergency. ## It can be taken either way, but since it may cause some nausea, and dizziness, according to NIH reports, some people do better taking it with food.
