Teva glucophage metformin odor problem ## What type of odor are you referring to? Something from the person being treated with it or from the medication? If it is from the person being treated, it could be Lactic Acidosis, which can be quite dangerous and they should see their doctor immediately or go to the nearest emergency treatment facility. If you are referring to the medication itself, then it is normal for it to have an odor. Depending on the manufacturing process, it can be much more noticeable from some tablets.

I find approximately 20 to 30 minutes after taking Glucophage or Metformin I am extremely hot, as in bad hot flashes. I am wondering if this is happening to anyone else? ## Hmm.. What is the down-side of taking Glucophage (minimum dosage) over a long period please? ## Glucophage contains the active ingredient Metformin, which is an oral antidiabetic medication. There aren't a lot of reports, so far, associated with the long-term use of it, other than that it can cause problems with the absorption of Vitamin B12. However, there are always risks associated with the long-term use of any medication. Have you discussed it with your doctor? A professor from the North has prescribed Duromine, Glucophage 1000mg 2x per day and Toplep to lose weight. What do you guys think about that? I am almost 70 yrs of age and have gained like 7kg after a hip replacement. I need to lose weight again seriously because I have problems with my back/discs that are disintegrating and the extra weight can't do it any good. My doctor originally prescribed Diamicron (60m) for my Type II diabetes but, more recently, my specialist prescribed Glucephage. What are the differences please? ## Diamicron contains the active ingredient Gliclazide, so it was a different medication than the Metformin in the Glucophage. If you didn't have good control of your blood sugar levels, your specialist might have wanted to switch you to this, because many people get very good results from it. I'm using Glimepiride 4mg & Glucophage xr 1000mg twice daily and sugar is not controled.. If I use Galvumet 50/850 and my sugar can be controlled, what's the dose you would suggest for me?.. I am 58 years old. Thank you. Please reply.

Glucophage seems to be less likely to give me diarrhea and nausea. Are there any generic brands which have less side effects than Aurobindo Metformin? I lost a lot of weight on the generic to my chagrin because I was down to 83 lbs. ## Hello, Peanut! How are you? They all carry the risk of causing the same side effects, it is just a matter of finding one that works for you, without making you completely miserable, so it is basically trial and error. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, stomach pain, and flatulence. Which other ones have you tried?

I been using Galvus 50mg + Glucophage 500mg since 6 months I have my blood sugar level only 150 maximum. Is that ok to use both tablets? I use Galvus only at night. ## Hi, Suraj!
