the Dr. says when I turn 80 yrs old (4 months) he will stop prescribing Glimperide and put me on insulin. Does that make any sense? ## Hello, Bill! How are you? Yes, it actually does make sense. There have been cases of dangerously low blood sugar levels occurring in elderly patients taking oral antidiabetic medications. Thus, putting you on insulin helps avoid the problem by letting you more precisely adjust the dose, if necessary. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I HAVE REGULARLY BEEN TAKING GLICLAZIDE 80MG+METFORMIN500 MG. NOW DOCTOR PRESCRIBED FOR VOGLIBOSE 0.34MG AND VILDAGLIPTIN50MG+METFORMIN500 MG. SHOULD I TAKE ALL THESE MEDICIDES TO REDUCE THE SUGAR LEVEL. THE PRESENT LEVEL IS FBS272 & PPBS 326. PLEAS EADVISE IMMEDIATELY. ## Hello, Kondodi! How are you? Yes, those levels are very high, so you need to do something to bring them down. Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor? If you let your blood sugar continue to be out of control, you run the risk of developing organ damage.

If diabetics sugar reads 73 would you give a Glipizide? ## Normal blood sugar levels are considered to be between 80 to 120, therefore a reading of 73 is actually considered slightly low and giving a medication for it would not make any sense. However, if the person is a known diabetic and takes the medications regularly, they work best that way to help keep the blood sugar under control and they still take it, as directed by their doctor, to help keep the levels under control. If it would start to fall extremely low, so they are experiencing symptoms, such as nausea and dizziness, then their doctor should be consulted. However, no, it would not be normal to add a dose of medication when they are having a low reading. Are there any other questions or comments?

I have been taking Urimax 0.4 for some months now. Though, the medicine has been helpful in passing urine in a relaxed manner and also the flow is good, but a new problem has started. After driving for roughly two hours or so or sitting for two hours or so, then as and when I stand up, my urge to urinate becomes intense and also there is some leakage of drops, if I do not urinate urgently. What can be done and what is the right time to take this or the new medicine prescribed under these circumstances? Also, I am taking Telma 80 H for hypertension in addition to Metformin 1000 + 2mg Glimpyride (distributing it in two doses). In the mornings I feel tired instead of feeling fresh. Can Hydrochlorodithiazide be taken with Urimax 0.4? Though no evaluation has been undertaken by me recently, ...

Any ideas what they are? ## I can't be 100% certain on this, because I can't find an image to confirm the information, but from what I'm finding this is a Canadian tablet that contains 80mgs of Gliclazide, which is used to treat diabetes. Learn more Gliclazide details here. Can anyone confirm this?

Doctor suggest tablet Blisto 1mg. what is the difference between gp1 and blisto. which is best tablet. what is the side effect of these tablets. please tel me and the blood sugar not in control before food 150 after food (2 hours later) 250. ## There is no difference between the regular GP1 tablet and the regular Blisto tablet, they both contain the active ingredient Glimepiride. Are you sure the doctor didn't want him to switch to Blisto-MF? It contains both Glimepiride and Metformin. The normal side effects can include: nausea, dizziness, headache and flatulence. And as to the blood sugar levels, is he also watching what he eats? Is he staying away from sweet foods, such as candies, fruits and fruit juice? Is he keeping h...

I am now taking GLIZID 80 mg two tabs twice a day and Glycoment 850mg one tab twice a day plus Acarbose 50 mg twice a day. Now doctor advises me to take Glycomet 1gm in place of Glycomet 850gm . I find that Gycomet 1mg is in the XR form. How much metformin does Glycomet 1gm contain? What is the benefit of switching over to Gycomet 1gm (Extended Release)? Would it help more than Metformin 850gm (Regular)? Moreover, no metformin tablet 1gm without being in SR/XR form is vailable in the market. Kindly advise ## Is there any difference between glycomet 1gm and glycomet Sr 1gm. Doctor has prescribed me glycomet Sr 1gm but it is not available in the market. Only glycomet 1gm is available. I have been taking the following medicines: Amlodepine 5mg + lisinopril 5 mg Gliclazide 80mg+ metformin 500 mg Sizopin 100mg Azona 40 mg I want to know can I take these medicines together. Or any interval is required to take the medicines ## @ kckarukachal, I'm surprised that your doctor has you on this many medications. Since they're all used for similar purposes I knew there were bound to be some complications, but I didn't suspect quite as many as I had found. Based on my research, there are several potentially dangerous drug interactions between most of the medications you mentioned. The frustrating part is, doctors are completely aware of these interactions and still hand out more prescriptions without letting people know of the risks involved.... *Using Clozapine and A...

I am 45 years old. My blood sugar level is FBS 163 & PPBS 239 and BP 130/70. I have been taking regularly "gliclazide 80 mg + Metformin 500 mg & amlodepine 5 mg + lisinopril 5 mg". My sugar level not coming to normal level inspite of taking these medicines reguarly. Please advise should I change or add more medicine to keep my Blood Ssurgar in normal level. ## Hello, Kondodi! How are you? What types of foods do you eat? Anything sweet, including fruits will elevated your blood sugar. Additionally, anything high in fat coats the cells, so they can't absorb sugar to burn for energy, which also causes blood sugar elevations. So, the best diet for a diabetic is one that's very low in sugar and fat. Another question is: How much exercise do you get? This is also anoth...

Kindly also tell me is this drycough is taking place due to Tazloc 40 or due to some other medicines which I am taking? ## Hi, Subrata! Sorry about the dry cough, I know that's very annoying, especially since it just doesn't go away. If it's due to one of your medications, it's most likely the Telmisartan in the Tazloc, it doesn't cause it in many people, but h...

I was on Metformin for 25 years. Dr told me to stop using it switch to Gilpizide because I am 80 years old. Apparently it could take you out in that age group. Cold turkey, I had severe chills for a couple of days accompanied by muscle and joint pains and a headache. Day 10 was somewhat improved as far as chills go. I am hanging in there with the glipizide Dose that was doubled. But the glucose level is still high. DDose that was doubled edzide ## Experiencing withdrawal effects is normal when you stop a medication cold turkey, after being on it for so many years, according to the NIH. It is likely also coupled with side effects from starting the new one, so a kind of double whammy. The FDA lists the side effects of Glipizide as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pa...

Dr has recently prescribed reclide xr 60 for my mother, earlier she was using Mclazide M, i want to what is the difference between these two? ## To answer your question, Reclide tablets contain the active ingredient Gliclazide extended release. The difference is that Mclazide-M is not extended release, and it contains the active ingredient Gliclazide (80mg) as well as Metformin (500mg), for increased efficacy. So while both medications are antidiabetic agents, one lasts longer and the other is stronger. I hope this info helps! ## my mother is CKD patient with cretinine 4.6 .Before that my mother uses 1 mg glimpride and 1000 mg metformine twuce a day . I would like to know what this pill is please, small white pill with a G scored then Z and plain back. I have came across it in my home and it doesn't belong to any meds I recognise so worried where its came from. Help appreciated. ## Hi sonia, The closest match I can find is Gliclazide (80 mg); which is a white round pill with the imprint G Z on one side divided by a score line and C on the back. Gliclazide is an oral hypoglycemic (anti-diabetic drug) and is classified as a sulfonylurea. From what I can gather, this medication is manufactured in the UK and Canada, it is sometimes combined with the U.S. drug Metformin. Do you think this could be your pill?

My BP is always around 120/80 and 130/80 when i used to take Stamlobeta for the past 30 years. Ever since my physician changed this drug to Met XL T 50, my BP levels have never comedown to the earlier levels. Though i do not have symptoms, whenever i check my bp it was showing around 150/90 or 160/90. When asked my doc he said i should continue with the same medicine. Will there be any improvement if i take stamlo 5 mg in addition to this Met XL T 50, of course with the consultation of my physician.
