I am taking Bactrim DS for an infection cellulitis due to a cut on my leg. Is this the right antibiotic given to me? ## Hi Marie, Based on my research, Bactrim DS is used for treating cellulitis infection. If I can recommend anything else to help the healing process, it would be to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and look into supplements that will boost your immune system. A good anti inflammatory supplement is Echinacea Goldenseal. Also, Tea Tree and Lavender essential oils are very good for skin related infections because they are anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. If you decide to try any of my suggestions, make sure you do plenty of your own research! I hope this helps!

diagnosed with e coli bacteria. used zedot for 5 days ( 1-1-1) followed by vibact ds for 15 days .diarrhea subsided while taking medicines but continued after discontinuing of medicines, pl suggest ## Have you consulted your doctor, again? ViBact is just a supplement product, not an actual medication, that contains Probiotics and it is often given to treat gastro-intestinal problems, such as diarrhea, to help balance out the body. Zedot contains the active ingredient Racecadotril and is often given to treat similar things. However, you may still have a problem with the EColi, which may require further medical treatment.

Will a seven day dose work. I went to Mexico to buy it and the box only has 14 and the dosage is for 1 every 12 hours. ## The dosing schedule for this drug is largely dependent on the severity of the type of infection you may be dealing with. For example: The usual adult dosage in the treatment of acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis is 1 Bactrim DS (double strength) tablet or 2 Bactrim tablets every 12 hours for 14 days. For the treatment of traveler's diarrhea, the usual adult dosage is 1 Bactrim DS (double strength) tablet or 2 Bactrim tablets every 12 hours for 5 days. The recommended dosage for patients with documented Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia is 75 to 100 mg/kg sulfamethoxazole and 15 to 20 mg/kg trimethoprim per 24 hours given in equally divided doses every 6 hours...

I was said to have bacteria vaginoesis and i was treated but it return with a bladder infection why is this and why was i given klion d 100 and amoxoline to use at the same time is this safe.... ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? I am so sorry about the problem that you're having. Bacterial vaginosis can be difficult to clear up, it does have a nasty habit of returning and the bacteria may have just spread to the bladder, as well. And yes, multiple antibiotics like this are often prescribed, in such cases where an infection is treatment resistant and spreading. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, vaginal irritation and discharge. Is there anything else I can help with?

can I give my dog Bactrim for what looks like an abscess on her front baby teeth/tooth she is about one and half yrs old and constantly chewing on her ball and other toys. would his be caused by her chewing. just looks like two little bumps on the back of her front baby teeth ## Hi Connie, If you haven't done so already, I would definitely encourage you to get in touch with a veterinarian when it comes to powerful antibiotics of the likes of Bactrim. Hopefully you can take your dog to go see one in person to determine if it is in fact an abscess or not. I've just seen so many negative reports here pertaining to side effects associated with Bactrim in particular that I'm very partial to the idea of it being given to an animal. This isn't to suggest that it's not a via...

Can bactrim and benadryl be taken together? I have brke out with large whelps on my back, behind my ears, in my hair, around my waist, under my breasts, I'm itching and is discomfronting? ## It would be best for you to have this checked out by your doctor. Given the symptoms you've described, you might be experiencing and allergic reaction to this medication, according to the NIH, and if that is the case, such reactions tend to worsen with repeated exposure, so you may need to stop taking it and switch to a different antibiotic. While antibiotics can cause a non-allergic skin rash, in some people that take them, according to the FDA, it is not usually itchy and does not cause hives/welts. It is normally just a visible rash. Are you on any other medications? ## That's what sa...

My dog has an ear infection and I have some bactrim ds that I couldn't take. I was wondering if he could take this medicine and what dosage would I give him? He weighs 23-25 lbs. ## Hi Kat, When it comes to potent antibiotics such as Bactrim, I feel it is vital to contact an experienced veterinarian who can assess the dog's condition in person first and then make an appropriate medical decision based off their evaluation. Just to add, Bactrim is in fact prescribed to dogs and cats alike for various types of infections. My only concern is that Bactrim tends to cause a lot of side effects in humans, so I can only hope that your dog has a positive response to it. If you have a moment, please post back on how things are going with treatment. ## How much bactrim should I give my 60lb...

I have a cut on my leg and my Dr gave me Bactrim Ds for Cellulitis infection. Is this the correct med for treating CELLULITIS? ## Hi Marie, Most of the time, Cellulitis treatment involves antibiotics taken by mouth and is later followed-up by your doctor. You could also be given painkillers if necessary. Bactrim is a pretty serious antibiotic, so I think it would be vital to use it over other options when the situation absolutely calls for it. For your own peace of mind though I'd just be sure to educate yourself on the possible side-effects that can come with it. Learn More: Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethopriml Details I hope this helps!

Hi I rescued a horse and it has a puncture wound in her breast area looks like maybe for a t post can I give her Bactrim DS 800-160 tab and if so how many should I crush in her food?? Thanks!! ## Hi CC, Sorry to hear about your horses condition. From what little bit I'm finding, some people suggest giving one 800/160 mg. Bactrim tablet per 100 lbs of horse (basing their dosage on the weight of the horse). Although I'd imagine this number could vary greatly depending on the severity of the condition. I also realize you posted this almost a week ago, but it sounds like your best bet would probably be to consult a veterinary clinic who specializes in horse treatment. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Bactrim Details I wish your horse well and hope it improves soon!

I was given a 10 prescription of bactrim by my doctor for a sinus infection because I had taken it twice before. Around the third day my tongue started burning so I went back to my doctor and because I suffer from acid reflux my doctor thought thats want was causing the burning of my tongue. Well on the 7th day I took bactrim, about 20 minutes later my stomach, chest, mouth, nose and lips started burning like fire! I haven't taken any more bactrim for the last couple days but still feel the burning but not quite as bad. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? Thanks! ## Hello, Paul! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you've experienced. No, that is not something listed among the typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, they usually include symptoms such as nau...

About a week and a half ago I came down with a really bad sore throat. Swollen tonsils. White pus on them. Slight, low-grade fever. No coughing. No sinus issues. Some body/joint/muscle aches. Rapid strep (for Type A) came back negative. Mono test was negative. But I was given Z-Pak antibiotic for three days. That helped. Sore throat was almost gone. Then I got hit with a different kind of sore throat. Pain felt different. Then I started getting small "white head" type pimples on my neck and shoulders. I went back to the doctor. Doctor's GUESS was that it's staph. I was in a hot tub about a week ago. So that's why she guessed staph. But no test was actually done to confirm. But rash doesn't itch. It's not painful. I wouldn't even know it was there if I cou...

I recently had a d&c and was given Septra after my surgery for a UTI (that I didn't end up having). That entire week I had symptoms that I thought was just from anesthesia recovery: stiff neck, sore joints, sore muscles. By day 7 of Septra, I broke out in a rash, it was flat red blotches, pin size and needle feeling all over and burning. I was told to stop the drug and given prednisone and Benadryl and zantac. After the prednisone was gone, the burning was back so they put me on Medrol dose pack for 6 days. My face would flare a little here and there but not bad. Yesterday was my last medrol pill and that evening it came back. My skin tints red, you can't notice if I don't mention it. But it feels like a sunburn on my body and face. It's been 12 days since stopping S...
