Getting Off Of Cymbalta

16 Topics Found

I would like to share this, for anyone trying to get off Cymbalta; many know it makes it easier for some people to take the capsule apart and take out a bit of the content and reduce it that way. there are 250 tiny balls in there (yes I counted!) which makes it quite tedious, but there's a generic brand called Coperin by Alphapharm, who condensed it to only 6 little pebbles (5mg each) which makes it WAY easier to reduce as you go along. I reduced one pebble every 2 months, but everyone is different. I want to get this out there as this has made a huge difference in my getting off this medication!!

I need to get off of cymbalta because I no longer have an ability to feel life. I no longer feel like I have what it takes to grow as a person and continue building myself. I feel stumped and I feel like my body shakes and aches because I am so frail. My life on Cymbalta is pure laziness and sleepiness. The problem is over-sleeping and not feeling active enough or energized enough to get out of bed. The active and energized person who had an ability to feel things and follow his drive has been completely tarnished by an over-use of this horrible daily drug. My brain has been zapped and "blocked" I guess you could say because this is a dopamine uptake inhibitor. I feel like there is a cloud in my head, almost like a little visor, or massive shield of blankness and loss of ability...

Is it hard to get off of Cymbalta? I know you cant just cold turkey it ## It depends on how long you have been on it and at what dosage. There will be some withdrawal effects if you stop cold-turkey, the severity will depend on the dosage and length of use. ## I stopped taking cymbalta cold turkey after taking it for over 18 months. I lost my job and could not afford my medication.I thouht I was going to die. Cold sweats, throwing up, panic attacks, crying spells, I thought people where after me, and locked myself in the bath. I do not advise anyone to stopping this medication cold turkey!!! MY DOCTOR SAID I COULD HAVE GONE INTO SEIZURES.

I had a brain surgery for an aneurysm 4 years ago, non ruptured. I was left with severe depression...........NO antidepressant has worked, started cymbalta, and went from 164lbs-180 in 4 weeks.............I think not. I was at 160 due to abilify, was getting of that...was 151 before that. I consider these meds poison. My face looks swollen. But now I feel GREAT! So it is a choice, my physical health, of mental......maybe I will be ok, don't know. I am doing what a writer above did. I am pouring out half, take for a week, then half from the half, take for a week. .. then take the fourth of a capsule remaining for a week. I am a RN, and it sounds safe, the way we would titrate patients........so here I go............let you know how I do as I go. . ## I am 6 weeks - cold turkey - free...

I am looking for someone who has been on this medication for a while. I would like to know how fast it works and if there were any side effects with nausea at first? ## I had nausea in the begining but it ceased after a while. Had some problems with constipation too. I have always been baffled why someone with anxiety problems such as myself is put on an antidepresent. I felt really tired all the time. There were a few times when I would fall asleep at my desk at work or almost fall asleep driving in the car coming home from work. Sometimes I felt like I had no desires to do things just from being so tired. I have recently gone off of it and I have had some strange things happening. I have been getting some weird shocking feeling in my head and body. it's very strange. ## prescribed...

Anyone out know about cymbalta? I've just been put on it a week ago. I was suicidal, not now. They just took me off prozac and put me on cymbalta. I'm praying it works for me... ## I just stopped taking cymbalta and it made me feel like i was going crazy. After i stopped taking it i got really bad migraines from it. Good luck. ## This post is from a long time ago so I am not sure if you will receive the message or not. I am getting ready to stop Cymbalta after a bit over 4 yrs on it. It's so horrid. I know it will be awful coming off, but you have to taper off. It may take a year or more. Something they never told doctors or patients in the past. They lied. A legal suit was settled very quietly earlier this year for it too. Did you know that? That's how nasty these crimi...

i am curently taking cymbalta and i lost hair on my face.does anyone know if cymbalta could be the reason for this,if so im getting off this ## It all depends on how long you've been taking it, your medical history, etc etc. There are numerous side effects listed on the page for Cymbalta Details, but hair loss is not specifically listed. A number of complications and conditions may take place which could result in what you're experiencing but without knowing your medical history it is almost impossible to tell. I would recommend letting your prescribing physician know because they might decide to switch your meds. You may also find the to be helpful. I wish you the best with this, and please let me know if you have any other questions or information to share.

I was on cymbalta for 7 to 8 years can't remember that's one of the side effects. Anyway I was put on it for my rage and fibromyalgia. Well it helped my mood tremendously. Someone could say some hateful or sarcastic comment and it wouldn't even bother me one bit. Now the bad, I had severe right side pain. Went to one doctor to another they finally took out my gallbladder. Had severe constipation and weight gain. Also had brain zaps thru the back of my skull. I tried getting off cymbalta several times and failed couldn't handle side effects. I finally got the courage 3 months ago to stop this good/evil drug. I would take one every other day for a week. Then take One every 2 days for a week Until I quit. Now that I'm off I have depression. Rage is back. So it did help ...

I was given 10 mg of Metoclopram to counteract the severe nausea from getting off Cymbolta. Now I have severe dizziness. Is there anything I can do to stop the dizziness? I've been off cymbolta 6 days (20mg). How long will the headaches and nausea last? ## As to the effects of stopping the Cymbalta, if you were taking it for a long time, then it may take a month or more for them to wear off. Ideally, these medications should be slowly tapered, to prevent the worst of these effects. Learn more Cymbalta details here. And the dizziness from the Metoclopramide can take about that long to wear off, as your body gets used to it, too. Learn more Metoclopramide details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for the information. I was only on Cymbolta 7 weeks (20 mg) and the...

I JUST BEGAN THE NEW PRESCRIPTION DRUG FOR FIBROMYALGIA THIS WEEK CALLED SAVELLA IN PILL FORM. MY BLOOD PRESSURE HAS RISEN FROM AN AVERAGE OF 122/70 TO 155/85. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? WILL IT REGULATE BACK DOWN AFTER BODY ADJUSTS. OTHERWISE SURE FEEL A WHOLE LOT BETTER THEN WHEN ON CYMBALTA FOR SAME DISEASE. COULD IT BE A WITHDRAWAL EFFECT FROM THE CYMBALTA? I WENT OFF THAT 24 HOURS BEFORE STARTING SAVELLA. HEADACHES, JITTERY, HYPER WERE NOTICED IMMEDIATELY, THAT IS GETTING BETTER EACH DAY. ## Your experience parralels mine. I transitioned from cymbalta to titration pack of savella in one day. Very rough withdrawal. Worked my way up to full dose of Savella in October. BP was rising at half dose, Dr. thought at full dose pain would be lessened and BP would fall. I have always h...

i have been using topomax since november 2010 for neuropathy pain. i had the typical side affects of facial numbness, tingling, flat taste of any carbonated drink and the best of all side effect was my 32 lb. weight loss and counting. since then i have been prescribed the medicine for bipolar along with cymbalta which also works great for my neuropothy. these two medications together seem to be the best cocktail for my pain and my bipolar. i have been on many different meds. in my adult life and none of them have given me the results that these two have. so for those of you that are thinking of getting off of topomax before you allow the side effects to go away, i would suggest that you at least hang in there for a few weeks to see if the good results outweigh the bad side effects. i al...

I am seeking a doctor, for one that will listen and not just try to rush through the visit. I have severe problems with my lumbar3, 4 and 5. Also have Fybromyalga and migraines. Because of the pain I am also severely depressed. It's been about 17 years that I have not had one day without pain. One of my biggest fears is having the doctor think I'm out just to seek the drugs. That is not the case. I'm currently taking Norco, Vicodin and Cymbalta 30MG but it's like getting my doctor to pull a tooth. My main thing is she won't listen. She is only in the office on Fridays and the PA will not refill my medications. ## Hello, Unfortunately, no one can really know ahead of time what a doctor is or is not willing to prescribe, as that is based on the doctor's discretion ...

I have been on levo for 2 1/2 years. Started at 75 for about a year and a half. I got a new dr and dose was upped to 100, then 125 for last six months. I have also been dealing with menopause, I THINK. In the last 5 months I have had trouble falling asleep, jittery, nervous energy. I have worked outdoors in the heat with no problems. Now that I look back, I have had a hard time in the heat since I started levo. A couple months ago I weaned off of cymbalta and after those withdrawals were over, I started getting naseau and migraine. Has anyone else experienced heat problems? And is there a natural med for hypothyroidism? ## Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear about your situation. According to the US National Library of Medicine, "sensitivity to heat" is listed as a serious side effect of Lev...

I had testosterone pellets inserted in my hip last April, 2012. My tes shot up from 355 to 850 in a couple of weeks. Everything was OK, then about 10 weeks into the program I started having anxiety. I got to the point where it was panic. I have never felt panic to this degree. I went back to my doc and he checked my estrogen and found out it was 3 times higher than when I started the program. He gave me some anastrasole to block the production of estrogen. Once that door was open my anxiety would not go away. I started taking 30 mg of Cymbalta to control my anxiety. Now 4 months later things are starting to level off. Obviously I was disappointed and do not plan on getting the Testosterone Pellets anymore. It seems like I experienced all the negative side effects and none of the positiv...
