Navigating the maze that is Dexedrine Generics is painfully complicated. Here are some tips. Everyone has their preference when it comes to medications like Dexedrine and Adderall. I happen to believe that the Brand Name drug is preferable to the generics, but the price is just astronomical. Dexedrine ER Capsules (Amedra) are priced at about $1300 for a bottle of # 90. The right to manufacture generic versions of the brand medication is spread among a number of companies, and changes constantly as companies are sold and resold to different holding groups. Hi all. I have been taking 30mg/day generic dexedrine IR tablets for 7 years now, and while I've seen a shortage happen occasionally it's always passed eventually. I picked up my prescription yesterday and found the pharmacy had given me ER capsules instead of IR tablets. Its a new-ish pharmacy for me so I figured it was a mistake, but when I asked them about it they told me that the generic IR tabs were discontinued entirely. Is this true? I was told by several Pharmacies that Dexedrine & the generic is NOT available, (on manufacturer back order, etc.), Does anyone have/not have the same problem? My daughter has had very treatment with the prescription of dexedrine 15 mg extended release spansules for many years. Recently, a different pharmacy filled it for what turned out to be labeled as "dexedrine sulfate(salts)" and my daughter's behavior was worse. She has never tolerated adderall. That particular pharmacist said it is all the same. The other pharmacies say it isnt. Now, years later, at a pharmacy just purchased by the Kroger that supplied the adderal mix before, she has received spansules from corepharma that do not seem to match and the behavior is again intolerable. Why can't I get 15 mg dexedrine in Edmonton, Canada? Taking equiv. 5mg tabs are screwing up my days/nights. ## My pharmacist told me that Barr just stopped manufacturing Dexedrine. I take 10mg spansules. I live in Illinois. I can't find more info. I was given Actavis generic. They have written on label that "manufacturer is different but is exact same medicine". I have been on Adderall 30 mg BID for years but can only take the COR generic and in my area all we have is Barr. I had a very bad emotional recation to it. My doctor switched me last month to Ritalin 20mg BID. I feel tired and like I am on Xanax all the time. So now he is going to switch me to Dexedrine. I am so fustrated because my Adderall work perfect. I have an appointment with my psychiatrist this week and I plan to tell him about Amneal's discontinuation of Generic Dexedrine ER. That was the only authorized generic I could find, and the only version which worked for me. Now that I can't get it, should I request an IR version, or is there something more appropriate? I am taking a generic Aurobindo Dexedrine IR tablet (5mg x2). I am experiencing extreme rage and losing my temper easily. The same issue happened with Aurobindo Adderall IR. My dad set me up with a doctor who agreed to put me on adderall. I got the bottle today and it says: Oval Blue b 972...... Genneric for adderall. Does this product work well? I usually use CVS, but the pharmacist told me that their wholesaler does not carry Zenzedi. Those who take this medication, what pharmacy do you use? The only mom and pop pharm in my town said it was too expensive to order, but that chains that use a certain wholesaler different than the one CVS uses would be able to get it. I am not asking about (the vastly inferior, IME) various generics of dextroamphetamine IR. Been there, hated it. Hi: I've been prescribed Adderall 20mg IR (generic amphetamine salts, 2x daily) and I found I was just dripping sweat in any type of heat or even at 40 deg after some exertion. My doctor switched me to dextroamphetamine (again, generic, 10 mg, 2x daily), and there is no improvement. The new drug is not as effective as the Adderall. My doctor is not that familiar with this class of drugs, but my pharmacist specialized in mental health drugs and suggested that an ER or XR version might work better. I have narcolepsy and have been on 20mg of Methylin (generic Ritalin) 3 times a day for some time now. I didn't seem as effective as it was at first, so I did some research and asked my Dr about the amphetamine class of meds. He prescribed Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine). I was awake but not motivated to actually do anything. I needed a nap everyday. I asked to go back on the Ritalin. He agreed but seemed surprised that Methylin worked better for me than dextroamphetamine. Shortly after that I asked for my dose to be increased. Remember, I'm on 20mg 3 times a day. Hey all, I take Dex IR for ADHD-C in the afternoons and it works great. I need to find an XR medication to take in the AM that works as well as my PM Dex booster. Pdoc and I have tried Adderall XR (made me fatigued, flat, and surly--I don't think my brain plays well on l-amphetamine) and Vyvanse (GI side effects and felt like a sugar pill--don't think I metabolize it correctly). I'm thinking ER Dextroamphetamine (the spansules) might be the next logical thing to try. Generics are tricky and I know there is no longer a brand name Dexedrine Spansule. I have been on Barr/Teva dexedrine sulfate, [generic] for 14 years. After 5 "shortages" I recently received back my script, butt it's a placebo !!!! Nothing at all. I took 25 10 miligram tabs; nothing at all. It's an unethical and disgusting scam. To help clear up any additional confusion, Adderall is a brand name for the following active ingredients: Amphetamine + Dextroamphetamine. Dexedrine on the other hand, is a brand name for Dextroamphetamine only. Adderall just happens to contain the two different mixed salts for increased efficacy.
