Is this tablet useful in sore cough/cough. ## This contains the active ingredients Pantoprazole and Domperidone, it's used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach and to improve intestinal motility, so not. I had a gastric bypass in 2001. I have anemia now and someone told me that in order for iron to be absorbed, there must be presence of acid in stomach. After bypass there is no gastric acid present. Is this true? Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, how is it treated ## If there were no gastric acid, then you would not be able to digest and absorb any food/nutrients. I suggest you speak to your doctor. ## You have plenty of acid. Enough that acid ate thru my staple line, ate 6 holes in my pouch and stomach, and I take 3 Rx of antacids. ## From what I've read, iron does need gastric acid to be absorbed. The way my surgeon explained it (14 years ago), the part of the stomach used to make the pouch is less elastic and produces less acid. And, my GI doctor said the bypassed part...

I started taking Lyrica 7 years ago for nerve pain due to adhesions following tummy tuck. Lyrica worked better for me than Gabapentin and was the answer to my prayers. Since then I have gained a lot of weight though I didn't link it with the Lyrica until starting to read around it now. I have arranged to have a gastric bypass in 2 weeks but now wonder whether, if I could get myself off the Lyrica, the weight disappear too. Another related question - the one I originally came onto the forum to ask - is about what will happen after the bypass when I think the Lyrica will not work any more because it won't get digested normally? Very confused now. Any advice welcomed. ## Hello, Robes! How are you? Yes, there is a chance that the weight gain is due to the Lyrica. These medications a...

I love this medicine as far as my depression and mood go but I’m having major stomach pain when taking it. I had diarrhea for a few days on the 20 mg but then when I went up to 20 mg that went away and the gnawing burning stomach pain is here. It’s day 3 of 20 mg and I’m curled up in a ball in bed. I’m not sure I can stick this out but really want to if it’ll go away. Is there anything I can take to help with pain? I’ve noticed fasting helps a little but with my bypass I’m not sure what else is ok. ## I'm sorry, but you said you went from 20mgs to 20mgs, which I believe to be a typo. What was the original dosage you were taking? Stomach pain, diarrhea, headache, dry mouth, and stomach irritation can be normal side effects of this medication....

Has anyone on here had gastric bypass and used zohydro for chronic pain and had success? My problem is my meds never last as long as they are supposed to for my chronic pain. which is also a result from my gastric bypass, abscess, and thoracic surgery in 2003. miserable most days ## Usually, when someone has had a gastric bypass, a time released oral medication, such as Zohydro, isn't the best bet, because they don't stay in the GI tract long enough for you to get the full benefit of the medication. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. That said, you may want to ask your doctor about trying one of the skin patches, such...

Can you advise what category this falls in , is this a morphine based medication ? ## Hi Gareth, The only pill I've found that matches this description is a foreign version of Nexium, possibly from Taiwan. From what I can gather this pill contains (40 mg) of the active ingredient Esomeprazole. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (brand name Nexium) which reduces acid secretion through inhibition of the H+ / K+ ATPase in gastric parietal cells. By inhibiting the functioning of this transporter, the drug prevents formation of gastric acid. It is used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD/GERD) and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Esomeprazole is the S-enantiomer of omeprazole (brand name Prilosec/Losec). Generic versions of Eso...
