I am taking a tablet of Galvus-Met 50/500 and Metride 1. These are very costly medicines and I am looking for some cheaper combination. Mydiabetese Type II is monitored as follows PP Blood 163.4 Fasting 96.63 Hb1AC 6.03 Pl advise. Will X-met be cheaper and equally effective. ## No, the X-Met only contains the active ingredient Metformin. Learn more Metformin details here. But in the Glavusmet there is Vidagliptin and Metformin and in the Metride there is Glimepiride and Metformin, so the X-Met is not an equivalent medication. Learn more Vidagliptin details here. Galvus Met 50/500, I am taking before breakfast as prescribed by a physician since one year but One cardiologist suggests to have it after breakfast. My questions is when it should be taken before breakfast or after breakfast ? ## Normally, these types of medications are taken just before a meal, that way they have a chance to start working by the time you are actually digesting the meal and you would experience the greatest blood sugar elevations. What instructions has the prescribing doctor given you? If they are the one treating your diabetes, then they are the one's whose instructions you should follow. ...

Diabetic since 2002. Below is the medicine I started using from Jan 2009 to date. My sugar levels are under control even though I'm not following proper diet and exercise. 1. I am a type 2 diabetic patient of 8 years. Since last 2 years I have been consuming galvus met 50 850 twice daily - before breakfast & before dinner. ## Hello, Saibal! How are you doing? In cases where someone asks a question like this, it's very important to let you know that while there is always some risks associated with the long-term use of any medication, your risks would be far, far greater if you didn't take the medication and let your blood sugar soar out of control. That burns up your organs, which can lead to blindness, kidney failure, liver failure, nerve damage and loss of appendages. Thus, you should continue with the medication as long as your doctor instructs you that it is needed. Are there any other questions or concerns? ...
