I have been taking 300 to 900 mg's of Gabapentin for at least 15 yrs. for restless legs..doesn't seem to be enough now but am hesitant in taking more. Would it help if I took Cal Mag supplements as well at night? I also take a good magnesium supplement at night too. Also because of a recent trauma I'm on one mg of Clonazepam as well which doesn't much help. It puts me out for a couple of hours and then I'm awake. Between the restless legs and the lack of sleep my nights are a bloody nightmare and I'm totally fatigued the next day. Any help out there. Also I'm 75 yrs. old. ## Since my last post, I've seen my doctor and she says I can take 4 gabapentin a night so 1200mg's. It's a lot I know but it's helping the restless legs. I am trying to wean off of gabapentin, but the worst part is the itching, and the crazy restlessness at night. I’m taking one a day at 300 mg in the evening. By the time evening comes again the itching starts happening. How do I wean off this/300 mg a day, and is there anything I can take for the itching. I did start taking magnesium a couple days ago. I was on it for about 4 to 5 weeks, at 1800 mg a day. No one told me to not go cold turkey, so I did and that was a horrible week. So I went back to taking one a day and I want to get off of these now. ## This medication comes in lower dosages, so you could speak to your doctor about using 100mg capsules, or tablets to help you taper off of it. On Gabapentin for 2 months. Started at 900 mgs (3 doses 3xs/day) for anxiety after getting off Vicoden. Went down to 600/day after 1 week, then 400 3 weeks later. Having severe burning all over body, really horrific. Has anyone else experienced this? And, how much longer should I expect to ween off the 400? Went to dr about burning and he said I needed to increase dosage but I am fearful since I'm down to 400. The burning is the worse at night, unbearable. Have ordered magnesium taurate since others have indicated this will help with withdrawal? ## Hello, Bobby! How are you? Hi. Please help. Was only gabapentin 200mg at nighttime for just over a week. Side effects were awful. Really bad dizzy spaced out feeling. Heart racing. Couldn't hack it anymore so dropped down to 100mg for 2 nights then stopped. So total dose nor more than 2500mg in 12 days. Well I'm now day 19 post and everyday is like Groundhog Day. Dizzy and spaced out with a heavy feeling in the head. Can't drive, focus much or even read. Writing this is a chore! Some tachycardia and anxiety but would imagine this may be more to do with the frustration than anything else but who knows? Sleep is more or less ok. Drs have no idea, including pain specialists. They just quote me he half life and say should be been out of my body after 7 hours!! Read a lot about magnesium and been using it ...
